This month's fifth food adventure was at "Bistro Minamiya" for their "Rosukatsu Curry" lunch. It had been two years since my last visit. The curry comes with both roux and soup. There are 12 types of roux available (including doria) and 7 types of soup. The roux curry comes with a salad and you can choose the level of spiciness from a scale of 1 (mild) to 5 (extremely spicy) for free. I chose level 4, which was quite spicy but didn't leave a lingering burn. The sliced pork cutlet had a nice thickness that could easily be cut with a spoon. The vegetables in the roux were finely chopped carrots, bell peppers, potatoes, shimeji mushrooms, and broccoli, adding a rich flavor. The restaurant also offers free extra rice up to 400g, with additional charges for 500-700g. The portion size of 200g seemed standard. The restaurant is located in the same building as "Torisoba Kamoshi," which serves chicken broth ramen. The two eateries are separated by the kitchen, with Minamiya on the north side and Kamoshi on the south side of Kitano Street. There are two parking spaces in front of Minamiya and some additional parking along the road.

First time at Minamiya and tried the daily special lamb steak with curry roux. Rice is unlimited up to 400g at no extra charge. The lamb steak was delicious, but personally, I could do without the extra spiciness. I ended up sweating a lot from the heat afterwards, but overall, I was satisfied and will definitely come back again. ✌️

In December 2022, for 1300 yen, I tried the delicious "Ebi Cheese" curry at a stylish black and white house along Kitano Street. The restaurant shares the building with the famous chicken soba restaurant KAMOSHI and a longstanding curry shop. I arrived around 2 pm on a Saturday after the rush had passed. Although the soup and hamburger were sold out, I was determined to try the European-style curry. The "Ebi Cheese" curry was amazing, with a rich and flavorful sauce filled with plump shrimp and plenty of cheese that stretched out generously. The vegetables, including potatoes, soft carrots, fried tofu, and broccoli, added great texture and taste. The spiciness level was moderate and easy to eat. You can have up to 400g of rice for free, which is great for big eaters. Although I couldn't finish it all, the small salad provided a refreshing break. Be warned, this European-style curry is addictive and incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal!

The pork soup curry was a bit lacking in richness compared to the curry specialty from the past. The fried broccoli and eggplant were good, but they seemed a bit oily. The braised pork was flavorful and tender, but a bit too salty at first. The potatoes were tasty and fluffy. The rice was a bit soft. The mini salt ramen was surprisingly delicious, with a good amount of ingredients and firm noodles. It would have been better if the chashu didn't overlap with the pork in the curry. The restaurant provides water in a decanter and paper towels at the table, and you can ask for tissues. It would have been nice to have pepper at the table. The seating is spacious and comfortable, and the service is good. I would rate the curry 3.5 and the ramen 4.0. I would like to try the roux curry and mini ramen next time. The mini ramen is a must-try.

This bistro in the Toyohira Ward, Tsukisamu area of Sapporo City specializes in curry dishes. On this day, I had the shrimp cream croquette & lamb steak. I also opted to change the soup to a mini ramen. The lamb meat was juicy and delicious with just the right amount of fat. The cream croquette was also delicious with a perfect softness, and the meat spaghetti side dish was equally tasty. The highlight was the +¥150 mini ramen. It seemed like a bit less than half a portion, but it was topped with plenty of ingredients and was a delicious ramen despite the smaller size. Getting this quality for an additional ¥150 is amazing. While the curry dishes are also very tasty, the bistro menu with this ramen is quite appealing. You can also enjoy the curry dishes through takeout, so next time I might go for the bistro menu with the mini ramen. Thank you for the meal!

☆LP☆Visited for lunch on a Saturday. I had actually tried to visit a few times before, but unfortunately it was closed each time. Finally, after a few years, I was able to dine there. It was a snowy day, so not many people were out for lunch. The restaurant has parking space for only two cars in front. Luckily, we found a spot, but if not, you would have to park on the street. The restaurant seems to share the entrance with a ramen shop, with the bistro in the front and the ramen shop in the back. The interior has seating on the first and second floor, with more seating than expected. Despite the weather, there were quite a few customers coming in for lunch. The menu had a lot of options, but we quickly decided on the daily specials - Chicken Nanban and Curry. KG ordered the Beef Omelette Curry, and I ordered the Shrimp Cream Croquette as an extra. The food took a bit of time to arrive. The Chicken Nanban was quite a generous portion, crispy and flavorful, definitely worth trying. The tartar sauce seemed homemade and added to the dish. The curry, however, did not live up to expectations, with no distinct flavors in the sauce or vegetables. KG's Beef Omelette Curry was also unremarkable, lacking the bistro's signature touch. The Shrimp Cream Croquette was good, although I wished it came with sauce. I ended up using the tartar sauce from the Chicken Nanban, which was a tasty combination. Throughout the meal, I couldn't help but notice the noise from the stairs and the second floor. The sound of chairs moving and footsteps were quite distracting. It seemed like the floors and walls were thin, causing the noise to echo. Especially the staff going up and down the stairs was unsettling and made it hard to relax and enjoy our lunch. It may be due to the building's structure, but I would recommend finding a solution to reduce the noise disturbance.

The restaurant name is Seafood Curry Bistro, but they serve Western-style curry and the menu is mainly curry dishes. I ordered the seafood curry which came with crispy shrimp, plump shrimp, crab meat, fish balls, and scallops. It was a generous portion with a satisfying amount of seafood. I opted for medium spiciness, which was just right. Overall, it was delicious. I also added the Shrimp Cream Croquette for 300 yen, but it was just average. They only accept cash (we prefer cashless payment).

On holidays before noon, there is a parking lot available. The hamburger plate costs 1050 yen and comes with cheese curry and a sunny-side-up egg on top. You can have up to 400g of rice for free, with the normal amount being 250g. The portions are generous. The hamburger is particularly delicious and meaty. Even if you haven't tried the curry, you'll want to come back for the hamburger. It can get crowded during lunchtime, so it's best to avoid peak hours.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. It looked high-end, so I thought it was a French restaurant, but it seems they specialize in European curry. I remembered a place called "Soup Curry Minami" that used to serve soup curry and European-style curry, and when I looked it up, it was indeed the same place. There are two parking spaces in front of the restaurant, but once parked, it's barely enough space for people to pass by. Oh no. I was lucky to find a spot, but I feel sorry for those who have to walk here. Please be careful when passing by. The stylish rain cover entrance extends to the main street. Inside, there is a wooden sliding door halfway through the rain cover. Upon entering, there is a wall on the left and stairs on the right. Each leads to a single seating area on the left and a booth seating area on the right. There is also a second floor, so I went up the stairs. Upstairs, I noticed that the ceiling was very low. There are two 4-person booths and one 2-person table. The large window offers a view of the autumn leaves outside. Beautiful. The fallen leaves fluttering in the wind add to the nostalgic atmosphere. I ordered the creamy pork curry, and my husband ordered the curry with pork cutlet in a roux sauce. There is also a daily lunch special available. It's interesting how European-style curry, despite originating in Japan, has such a rich flavor. The crispy cutlet and flavorful curry were enjoyable. As for the pork curry, it was not what I expected. I thought it would be a tender pork dish, but it turned out to be more like char siu. It was quite salty and had a charcoal flavor, which didn't really complement the curry. My husband kindly exchanged his curry with mine, so we both left feeling full, but I hope they can improve this aspect. I may have made a face, but I appreciate my husband for switching with me.

It was delicious, haha. I went to eat ramen but ended up having lamb steak soup curry. It was a really satisfying bowl. The lamb meat was grilled to perfection and delicious. It had a bit of fat, so it got a little heavy as I ate, but Hokkaido people really love the taste of meat. Thank you for the meal, haha. It was a very satisfying bowl.

I had the "Rosukatsu Curry" at BISTRO MINAMIYA in Toyohira-ku, Sapporo. I chose the extra spicy level for free, got a large serving of curry, and opted for 250g of rice. The rice portion sizes are generous, some are charged extra. The pork cutlet was thick and delicious, and the curry had plenty of vegetables commonly found in soup curry. The spiciness was intense but didn't linger. Thank you for the meal.

This is a revisit to a bistro in the Tsukisamu area of Toyohira Ward, Sapporo City, where curry is the main dish. On this day, I had the Seafood Curry with a large serving of spicy level "very spicy" and 250g of rice. It was my first time trying "very spicy" and at first, I thought it was just right, but as I continued eating, the spiciness gradually kicked in and my tongue started tingling towards the end. The curry was filled with plenty of seafood ingredients such as clams, squid, scallops, shrimp, fish cakes, and a deep-fried white fish. I had never tried white fish fry in curry before, but surprisingly, it went really well together. The taste of the curry was outstanding, not losing to the one from the shop owner's previous place, Ichimonji Curry. It was a delicious curry, and I still haven't tried their soup, so I will have to challenge that next time. Thank you for the meal!

I had always wanted to go there, but every time I thought about it, I never actually went. Maybe it was because I couldn't find the entrance. But once I finally encountered it while it was open, I never missed a day when it was closed. There are two shops, one for chicken soba called "Kamoshi" and the other is the bistro "Minamiya". The interior is clean and stylish, with a steady stream of male office workers as customers. It feels like a place loved by the locals. The staff are very friendly. I had tried the ramen before, so this time I decided to try the curry. I started with the soup curry. The stylish tray with curved edges made it a bit difficult to eat comfortably (you can remove the tray), but the taste was delicious. The braised pork was amazing, and the soup was rich and flavorful, as expected from a ramen shop. The spices and level of spiciness were just right. Next, I tried the roux curry. It was a hearty curry with plenty of vegetables. It tasted great, like the highest quality homemade curry. I chose the chicken cutlet, which was delicious with a spicy kick. It had a bistro feel to it. I was surprised to find cabbage in the curry, but it tasted so good that I tried adding sautéed cabbage to my homemade curry the next night, and it was delicious. With a variety of soup and roux options, as well as a wide range of menu choices, it's hard to decide what to order. And you'll also be torn between this place and the ramen shop next door. I must go back many times.

The curry restaurant, which has been in business for many years, has transformed half of its space into a ramen shop a few years ago. I finally had the chance to visit after wanting to go for so long. The location may feel a bit far from the subway for those not familiar with walking. There are two entrances (connected inside), with the one facing the street for ramen and the one on the backstreet for curry. I confirmed with the staff that it's okay to enter either entrance for groups or individuals wanting to try both ramen and curry. They offer both roux curry and soup curry. This time, I ordered the daily special soup curry (Bacon Steak Soup Curry). You can choose the amount of rice (up to 300g for free, I think). The spiciness level is free with 5 levels (additional charge for higher levels). The dish was topped with thick bacon as promised. I chose level 4 spiciness, which had a bit of a kick at first but was just right for me, enjoyable with a bit of a nose run. Those who like spicy food might be able to handle the extra spicy level. The amount of soup was generous. The tableware and the interior of the restaurant are cute and clean, making me regret not visiting sooner. They used to serve dinner as well, but now they are busy and only open for lunch, closed on Sundays and holidays (as of October 2020). I will definitely visit again next time.

I visited after a year because Sundays are their regular holiday and I couldn't go there often. I arrived a little after 12 PM and it was crowded, probably because they don't have many seats. I love their curry here, it has a rich flavor with a hint of sourness. The soup curry is a mix of Japanese and Chinese flavors, with a subtle aroma of star anise and cloves. The lamb was cooked rare and delicious. It was a great meal, thank you!

Bistro Minamiya in Tsukisamu, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo. This was my second visit. On this day, my family of four visited for lunch. As I have been into katsu curry lately, I ordered the pork cutlet curry, while my daughter, who loves cheese, ordered the baked cheese curry doria. Additionally, my son, who loves ramen, also joined us this time, so we also ordered ramen from Torisoba KAMOSHI located in the same building. (It was mentioned that ordering something from Minamiya allows you to order ramen from Torisoba KAMOSHI as well). The katsu curry had a rich and flavorful bitter sauce with plenty of ingredients like lotus root, carrots, and broccoli, which blended well with the curry. The cutlet itself was ordinary, possibly pre-made, but the delicious sauce made up for it, making the overall katsu curry very tasty. The curry doria my daughter had was delicious as well, but the sauce seemed a bit lacking. The ramen was also tasty, and it was nice to be able to enjoy ramen at a bistro. I will definitely be coming back here again. Thank you for the delicious katsu curry!

In the same building, there is a strange setup where a ramen shop and a soup curry shop operate through a shared kitchen. When I came aiming for ramen this time, it was closed so I decided to try the curry here. There were 4 customers already eating and our group of 6 was seated upstairs. I didn't realize there was a second floor here. I ordered the daily special: fried chicken soup curry for 1000 yen with an additional 150 yen for rice. The fried chicken was crispy, or rather, quite hard. The soup was delicious, like a chicken vegetable soup with added fried chicken. I enjoyed it, but it was a shame that there were no napkins or toothpicks provided. Next time, I think I'll stick to ordering ramen as originally planned.

The newly renovated interior of the restaurant, which was famous for its curry and soup curry, has now added a ramen section. Despite the name "bistro," the restaurant offers more Western-style dishes rather than French cuisine, with a variety of curry options available. I mistakenly thought the daily special was mushroom bacon soup curry, but it turned out to be a luxurious curry instead. I tried the level 5 spiciness with 250g of rice. The Minamiya Bistro's curry has a European feel, with a deep and rich flavor, a good balance of depth, richness, and spiciness in the sauce. Although the bacon was a bit subtle, the various mushrooms added a delicious touch. The spiciness was moderate, so it seems safe to try a spicier level next time. The rice was also tasty, enhancing the overall experience. The small salad on the side was a nice touch, reminding me of the importance of getting some vegetables. With so many menu options, I'm already thinking about what to try next time, as I definitely want to try the soup curry and other curry dishes. I may not know when I'll visit again, but I'm already looking forward to it.

Visited Bistro Minamiya for the first time. I must have been here a few times when it was still called Minamiya, but it was so long ago that I can't even remember the curry I had back then. So, I decided to revisit and try the curry again. The restaurant has a stylish interior with a bright atmosphere and a cozy feel. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. I ordered the Eggplant Keema Curry. The rich curry sauce was filled with chunks of eggplant and plenty of minced meat, with a hint of finely chopped carrots. The eggplant seemed to be fried perfectly, with a good texture. The seasoning of the curry sauce was a bit strong, but it paired well with the eggplant, making it a delicious curry. As I was eating, I couldn't help but notice the unique shape of the curry dish and the flavor profile, which reminded me of the curry at Ichimonji Curry. Later, I found out that the owner of Ichimonji Curry had actually trained at Minamiya, which explained the similarity in taste. It's no wonder this curry is so delicious, given that the owner trained at the No.1 curry restaurant in Hokkaido. While I love the Eggplant Keema at Ichimonji, I appreciate that Minamiya focuses on eggplant and minced meat, allowing you to truly savor the deliciousness of the Eggplant Keema. A very delicious Eggplant Keema Curry, thank you for the meal!

I'm back as the Super Casual Guy FIT-chan! I've been busy with post-disaster recovery work, mid-year settlements, and total inventory checks, so I haven't been able to update! Sorry for not liking all the posts from my followers who have been posting a lot! On this day, I went on a date with a cute girl from the supermarket who is a good friend. We both wanted to try a soup curry, which is rare for us. We usually don't go for soup curry, so what's gotten into you, man? Haha. So, we chose a nice restaurant with a beautiful interior after the renovation. We were waiting to be seated at a table when a group of three came in, so we decided to sit at the counter instead. We didn't want to keep the staff waiting during their lunch break and have our lunch delayed. The staff and the waiting group appreciated our consideration. And then, the soup curry arrived! Honestly, I remember it being incredibly delicious! I regret not coming here sooner even though it's close by! I don't remember the details, though, as this was a month ago. I'll definitely go back again soon! Thank you for the meal!
