For my friend who loves dumplings... I bought some dumplings as a late-night snack at the hotel! The shop was very small, and a female staff member helped me. They also had daifuku and steamed buns, but I tend to overeat when I travel, so I only bought as much as I could eat today to avoid the dumplings getting hard later on. I wanted to try the bean daifuku and grass mochi too... I ended up buying red bean, mitarashi, and sesame dumplings. When I returned to the hotel, I enjoyed them as dessert after drinking in the evening. The mitarashi had a strong sauce with a nice salty flavor. The red bean was light and not too sweet, giving a refreshing taste. The sesame was not the powdery type, but a sticky one that coated nicely. After eating three dumplings, I was satisfied. I look forward to trying the daifuku next time. Thank you for the meal!

I purchased some skewered dumplings at "Daifukutei Yayoi-dori" on Yayoi Street. I bought skewered dumplings in flavors like soy sauce, sesame, seaweed, kinako, sweet bean paste, green pea paste, and black sugar steamed bread. The black sugar steamed bread is a gently sweet steamed bread. The skewered dumplings are mellow and not overly sweet, making them perfect with tea.

Daifukutei 2022.02.27 What I can do right now is to support food and beverage establishments by being extra careful. Let's all work together to help them thrive! I usually don't post about food and beverage stores that don't have dine-in options, but in times like these, even a little support can make a difference. Today, before going to a neighboring cafe for lunch, I stopped by a traditional Japanese confectionery shop called "Daifukutei Yayoi-dori Store" to buy some strawberry daifuku for my sweet tooth. The shop is located in Obihiro, along Kyoei Street, next to Cafe Clover. The exterior is a one-story building with light beige walls. Inside, it's cozy and filled with various daifuku and rice cakes. I bought red bean, sesame, and matcha daifuku for 95 yen each (tax included) and a sakura mochi for 120 yen (tax included). The mochi and rice cakes were delicious and chewy. I will definitely come back for more rice cakes in the future. Thank you for the delicious treats! Daifukutei - Business Hours: 10:00 - 19:00 - Closed on Wednesdays

I was inspired by a TV show to eat some mochi, so I decided to visit a shop that I had been to many times before but had never reviewed. This shop offers daifuku with a choice of "tsubuan" (chunky red bean paste) or "koshian" (smooth red bean paste), making it convenient for picky eaters. I ordered several skewered dango, including the limited-time "kabocha an" (pumpkin red bean paste) and the beautifully colored "uguisu." The dango was not too soft, with plenty of filling. The "uguisu" had a salty taste reminiscent of zunda mochi. The "kabocha an" was not too sweet, but unfortunately, the pumpkin flavor was not very pronounced. The grass daifuku with tsubuan was the most satisfying in terms of mochi texture, but the mugwort scent and flavor were subtle. The sweet potato daifuku was a limited-time item with a slightly firm texture on the surface. It had a moderate sweetness from the sweet potato paste, giving it a Western twist. The shop is convenient to drop by and you can buy just one item, making it suitable for everyday use. However, be careful because I always end up buying more than planned when I visit.

While driving, I suddenly had a craving for a Japanese-style sweet treat and decided to visit this popular spot for the first time based on reviews on Tabelog. [Location & Parking] It's located facing Yayoi Street, easy to find on Nishi 2nd Street, a couple of buildings east from the eye-catching yellow building of WOW. As for parking, I wasn't sure whether to park in front of the house that doubles as a parking lot or on the left side towards the shop. I apologize for not knowing. [COVID-19 Measures] There is alcohol spray for disinfection inside the store, and all products like daifuku are individually wrapped in plastic bags. [Today's Choices] I visited around 12:30 on a weekday, no other customers were present. The female staff was kind and helpful. I bought "Kusa Daifuku with red bean paste (155 yen tax included)", "Yakimochi with red bean paste (155 yen tax included)", "Skewered dumplings with soy sauce (95 yen tax included)", and "Skewered dumplings with seaweed (95 yen tax included)" (I don't like smooth red bean paste and white bean paste). [Kusa Daifuku with red bean paste (155 yen tax included)] The scent of mugwort is not strong before eating, but it spreads in the mouth after a bite. The rice cake is not very soft but has a chewy texture with good elasticity. The taste is more salty than sweet, with a subtle red bean flavor. The amount of red bean paste is just right. [Yakimochi with red bean paste (155 yen tax included)] Before eating, there is a savory aroma of soy sauce or slightly burnt miso bread. The rice cake has a chewy texture and a hint of sweetness, with a strong miso flavor. The combination of red bean paste and the rice cake's burnt aroma is delightful. [Skewered dumplings with seaweed (95 yen tax included)] The scent of seaweed is prominent upon opening the package, along with a savory soy sauce aroma. The dumplings are not too sweet, making them easy to eat. This type of dumpling is rare and very delicious. I could eat many of these. [Skewered dumplings with soy sauce (95 yen tax included)] The dumplings have a chewy texture and a noticeable stickiness. The soy sauce flavor is more salty than sweet, making it a tasty snack. This shop excels in skewered dumplings, although they may be a bit pricey. Overall, the food is delicious and worth the price. I will definitely come back for more skewered dumplings. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant Daifukutei Miyoshi-dori for the first time! I felt like eating daifuku mochi, so I thought of going there. There are two Daifukutei locations, and I went to the one on Miyoshi-dori. I tried the following: - Mame Daifuku with smooth red bean paste for 155 yen including tax - Kusa Daifuku with chunky red bean paste for 155 yen including tax The chunky red bean paste for the Mame Daifuku was sold out, so I'll try it next time. The Mame Daifuku with black beans and red bean paste was a good match. The mochi didn't stretch as much as I thought, it was more like a dumpling. The Kusa Daifuku was made with mugwort, which I've been eating since I was young. I could really taste the mugwort. The not-too-sweet red bean paste was very delicious. I ate it before dinner, but I still enjoyed it as usual. Thank you for the meal!

The taste and aroma of the rice cake are clearly noticeable! It's natural for rice cakes to have the taste and aroma of rice, but for some reason, it still surprised me. Truly the rice cakes from a rice cake shop. Also, I'm curious about the sold-out rice cake.

I'm alone in Obihiro today and I have to go home early. I was told to come back by 5 o'clock. I quickly wrote down the stores I needed to visit and made sure not to make any mistakes in the order. I asked the navigation system to take me to buy coffee beans, but I ended up finding a mochi shop on the way. I made a U-turn and went to the shop. There was one customer ahead of me, so I picked out what I wanted to buy while waiting. I bought "mame daifuku," "kusa daifuku," and because I like shiso, I also bought "shiso daifuku." At the register, the cashier asked me if I was okay with smooth red bean paste. I realized there were two types and chose the grainy red bean paste. The cashier was a relaxed person but very nice. I split the daifuku with my wife when she came back. The mame daifuku had plenty of black beans inside, and the sweetness of the red bean paste was just right. The mochi was good, as expected from a mochi shop, but nothing extraordinary. It felt a bit lacking in saltiness. The kusa daifuku didn't have a strong grassy taste as expected. Overall, the daifuku were a bit disappointing. The shiso daifuku ended up being for my wife.

This is definitely a shop at Daifukutei on Miyoshi Street. Inside the shop, there are various types of daifuku lined up. I ended up purchasing strawberry daifuku and bean daifuku with sweet bean paste. They are so soft and chewy. The bean paste is not too sweet and easy to eat. The strawberry daifuku is delicious with the combination of the strawberry's acidity and the sweetness of the bean paste. It would go well with bitter green tea or coffee. While Tokachi is known for its delicious sweets, I think the daifuku shops specializing in traditional Japanese confections are also of high quality. Thank you for the meal~

I was aware that the Yayoi-dori branch of Daifukutei opened on November 8 last year, but I didn't have a chance to go until now. After eating soba, I felt like having something sweet, so I stopped by Daifukutei Yayoi-dori branch. By the way, the main store, which has been in the Minami-machi area for 20 years, is a place I have visited a few times since I am a local resident. The location is facing Yayoi-dori, so it's easy to find. The anko for the skewered dango is poured on after ordering, and I chose the Yakimochi (with red bean paste) "Kusa" for 145 yen. I had the skewered dango as a snack at 3 o'clock. When they were freshly made, the seaweed was crispy, but over time, it became moist and blended with the dango. The seaweed flavor and the saltiness of the soy sauce were just right for the Isobe dango. The Yakimochi had a nice grilled texture and a subtle sweetness from the red bean paste. Both types of dango had soft mochi, which was a characteristic feature. When I ate the Yakimochi at home in the evening, even after some time, the mochi remained soft like an earlobe. The combination of soft mochi and the subtle sweetness of the red bean paste made it easy for me to eat about three pieces. The "Kusa" flavor was also present. I apologize for not trying many varieties and not having much to say about them. But as an introduction to the store, I think it is perfect for a light snack that you can easily buy in small quantities. Although Daifukutei is supposed to be related to Sakakiya, the texture of the mochi is different. How about trying it when you feel like having something sweet? Thank you for the meal.
