This is the fourth stop on the Sapporo Curry Tour, at a restaurant called Gurakusan's Loo Curry. I have been interested in this place since it opened, so I planned this tour specifically to eat curry here. We took a taxi from Sapporo Station and arrived around 5:50 PM. There were no other customers at the time. We were asked to disinfect our hands and had our temperature checked by the staff. I ordered the Hand-Kneaded Hamburger Curry for 1,290 yen with extra spiciness, and added the 4 kinds of melted cheese sauce for 220 yen. The curry rice arrived after a 13-minute wait, followed by the cheese sauce a minute later, which was a bit disappointing. The dish consisted of plenty of curry sauce and a small amount of yellow rice, with carrot salad, pickled purple onions, and lemon on the side. The hand-kneaded hamburger was placed on top of the rice and covered with curry sauce. After adding the cheese sauce, the curry had cooled slightly. The curry sauce had a distinctive sweetness, but the spiciness did not harmonize well with it. I recommend ordering it less spicy next time. The spices, herbs, and dashi used in the curry included coriander, cumin, turmeric, cassia, basil, chili powder, garam masala, cayenne pepper, chili, star anise, cloves, sansho pepper, cardamom, white pepper, mustard seeds, black pepper, bay leaf, konbu seaweed, hanakatsuo (dried bonito flakes), and domestic clams. The clam was noticeable, but the other dashi ingredients were hard to discern. The hamburger was a bit small and lacking in juiciness, but the cheese sauce was delicious and complemented the curry well. The pickled purple onions were good, but the carrot salad was underwhelming. Overall, I thought the curry was tasty, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. If I visit again, I would like to try the same dish with medium spiciness. Thank you for the meal.
