Last time I had Biryani, but this time I couldn't resist the Special Curry, so I came back again. And when I looked at the menu, I noticed that they have added Thai dishes! Yay! I love Thai food. There aren't many places in Otaru where you can eat Thai food, so it's a rare find. But, I still can't help but be curious about the Special Curry. I'll try the Thai dishes next time. For now, I decided to try the "Payah" from the Special Curry menu. (1200 yen) I chose Naan over rice. I went for the 4th level of spiciness out of 5. I also ordered a Mango Lassi (350 yen). The Payah is described as a traditional Pakistani dish made by simmering various meats like ox, goat, buffalo, and sheep with a variety of spices and herbs. When it arrived, the curry was more like a soup curry with a thin consistency. I tried it with the Naan. It had a rich and fruity flavor with a good kick of ginger and strong spices. It was delicious! The Naan itself was also very tasty. However, there wasn't much meat to eat and there were a lot of small bones, which made it a bit difficult to eat. But overall, I was satisfied with the delicious curry. This restaurant never disappoints with its tasty food. There is a popular curry restaurant near the border with Sapporo in Otaru, but I personally think this place is better. Despite that, there weren't many customers this time. I hope this restaurant becomes more popular and stays in business for a long time. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Otaru to buy fish. I visited various markets, but there were only a few types of fresh fish available such as hokke, octopus, flounder, and sardines. I wasn't too impressed with the selection. I decided to search for a restaurant and found a new curry place nearby. The restaurant was spacious and clean, offering a variety of Indian, Pakistani, and Thai curry dishes. My companion chose the Keema Curry lunch set, while I opted for the Vegetable Soup Curry. The dishes were delicious, with the Naan bread being particularly tasty. The soup curry was flavorful and had a good amount of vegetables. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and found it to be a great value. I hope the restaurant gains more popularity as it deserves it. I will definitely visit again to try more dishes. Thank you, Aladdin!

- No smoking
- Lunch set with rice and unlimited naan
- Only the waitresses are Japanese, the manager speaks fluent Japanese
- Parking space for three cars
- Job posting for 1100 yen per hour
I was curious about this curry restaurant that seemed authentic with both the staff and customers appearing to be from the original region. I decided to try the simplest lunch set available:
- Single Curry Set
- Mutton curry (medium spicy)
- Salad, mango lassi, naan
You can choose from 5 different drinks, and the mango lassi was a pleasant surprise. The salad was ordinary with sesame dressing. The mutton curry was not too spicy and had a nice texture, making it enjoyable. The naan was served hot and crispy on the outside but soft inside, similar to the one I had in Toyohira-kyo Onsen.
The staff recommended medium spicy curry, and even though it was still quite hot, I might try the hot version next time. The spice level was mild, and the mutton was tender and easy to eat. The naan was delicious, and I wanted more, but I also wanted to try the rice, so I asked for a small portion. The staff seemed surprised by my request, but it turned out to be a regular serving. The rice was plain, but the naan complemented the curry perfectly.
Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi curry restaurants usually have a similar taste, which is comforting and delicious. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get. In contrast, Japanese cuisine in Europe can be hit or miss and often expensive. I remember the manager from Collins mentioning that he bought spices from this place. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I would like to try the butter chicken curry next time with a higher spice level. It would be great if they also offered biryani during lunchtime.

In March 2023, I visited a newly opened restaurant called "Aladdin Spice Restaurant" in Teppumiyako, Otaru City. The restaurant is actually operated by a company that deals with the sale and export of used cars in several locations in the city. Despite not advertising much, the restaurant had about 70% of its 50 seats filled with customers just two days after opening. I wondered where all these people came from, but it seems like the town has a lot of people who like trying new things.
I ordered the A set which included mutton curry (960 yen). The set came with a choice of drink (I chose mango lassi) and a choice of naan, chapati, or rice. I chose naan and selected the regular level of spiciness. I was prepared to wait for over 30 minutes due to the 4 groups waiting ahead of me, but to my surprise, my order arrived before theirs. I was a bit nervous as the previous customers might complain, but no one seemed to mind.
To be honest, I don't have much experience with this type of curry, but the naan was delicious. The mutton curry came with 3 pieces of meat and was not too spicy, more like medium spiciness to me. It was a simple and easy-to-eat curry, without any standout features. The salad dressing was unexpectedly sesame-flavored, and the mango lassi was quite mild. I'm not sure if they are open for dinner, but considering the location which may not attract many evening customers, I am curious about their future prospects.

The spiciness was "medium" and I found it to be on the sweeter side. There were various unique curries that I haven't seen elsewhere. There was a sign saying they are open year-round. The soup curry bowls and spoons seemed difficult for elderly people to use.
