Last year, when I went, it was already closed and I missed out on eating. This year, I just made it in time and was able to eat. It was worth the 2-hour wait, and I am very satisfied.

I arrived at the restaurant 30 minutes before opening and was second in line even though it was 40 minutes before. By the time it was 10 minutes before opening, it was already crowded. I love eel, so I had the Unaju Matsushita. The eel was really big and there was a lot of rice. The eel was tender and the skin was crispy. The sauce was on the spicy side, which I liked. The service was friendly and it's a place where you eat while standing in line.

On Sunday at 13:15, when you exit the north ticket gate of JR Teradacho Station, you can see the restaurant diagonally to the right without a line. Worried that it might be sold out by the last order at 14:00, I entered the restaurant. There were no other customers waiting, so I was given a menu and told to wait as it was full. After a 5-minute wait inside the restaurant, I was seated at a table for four. Well, this restaurant is really popular for a reason, it's my first time here after all. I ordered the grilled eel for 4,190 yen (1 serving). The tea wasn't that great, but oh well. It arrived in less than 10 minutes, and it was delicious! The skin was crispy, the fat melted away leaving a thin layer of meat that was packed with flavor. For the price and taste of a whole eel, this is the best value for money. I finished it in no time! I might come back again, even though it's far. The fear of it being sold out is real. Thank you for the meal! The eat-in option was sold out by 13:30, but they were still accepting take-out reservations, so they might be open for take-out throughout the day.

I went to Funaya in front of Terada-cho Station today to have delicious unagi-don. The store opens at 11:30, but I heard it's better to line up from 11:00, so I arrived before 11:00. There were already 3 groups waiting in front of me. The unagi-don arrived around 11:45, so I waited for about an hour. While waiting inside the store, we were served tea, which was nice as it gave me time to catch up with my companion. The eel was steamed and grilled over charcoal, and the craftsmanship was evident. The charcoal aroma wasn't overpowering at all. The sauce for the unagi-don was less sweet compared to others, and the slightly sweet flavor of the liver was well balanced. It was one of the best unagi-don I've ever had. They also sell sweet boiled locusts and pickles as souvenirs. The skills of the craftsmen who have been building up their expertise are impressive. The staff working in the restaurant were also working hard. The lively exchange of words between the staff seemed enjoyable, and I thought that if they were having fun, it would be a perfect score for the restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this place based on a recommendation from my friend in Kansai. Since reservations were not available, we had to wait in line. We arrived at 10:30 am and took a stroll around the neighborhood. Finally, at 12:30 pm, we were able to enter the restaurant. Even while waiting, there was a constant stream of customers coming in, but the staff kept saying they were already full. It's definitely a popular spot. The food was indeed of high quality. The eel was exceptional.

First time visiting this restaurant. To eat quickly, it seems best to arrive before opening or right at opening time. You write your name down, receive a buzzer, and then return to the restaurant when called. This system was very convenient, especially in the heat. The eel that day was light and fluffy, truly delicious. I also purchased some grilled eel to take home after 2 PM. Despite being high-quality eel, the prices were reasonable and the owner was very kind and provided great customer service.

This is my second visit. Two years ago, I regretted coming alone to eat eel here for the first time, and I promised myself that next time I would definitely come with my family. Finally, that day has come. This restaurant always has a long line, with waits of up to 2 hours even 10 minutes before opening. You can't make a reservation (takeout is possible with a reservation), so today I arrived one hour before opening just to be safe (laughs). Even then, I was fourth in line. We ordered the unaju for two, which is overflowing from the box, a very impressive eel dish. The eel grilled over charcoal after being steamed is incredibly fragrant, with a light texture, and delicious to the point of feeling like you're in heaven. The pickles and liver soup that come with it are also wonderful, and anyone who isn't a fish hater will be 200% satisfied. As I mentioned before, there is always a line forming before opening, and you can see the eel being grilled from outside the restaurant, so the wait isn't so bad with that delicious aroma in the air. I want to come back with someone else next time.

Today is Father's Day! A bear appeared on LINE and was holding flowers. One son seemed to have planned something but it fell through due to work. Oh well, that's just how work goes. For those who are far away, they only sent a bear on LINE. I remember treating them to something on Children's Day, but this time there was nothing. Oh well, at least there was a counter on LINE. When I think deeply, I feel like saying that the money spent could have bought a condo. The sons are all fools but they chose to study science in university, making it even more necessary to earn money through blood and sweat. If that's the case, they should have just gone into the humanities! Then I could have bought a Harley or Ducati or two! Oh well, that's life. Fools are fools, it can't be helped. Of course, I'm definitely smarter but... well, they probably know that (laughs). In the end, my wife decided to treat me to eel. It's better to have a partner with whom you share a connection of the heart rather than a DNA with no cost-effectiveness. The children who sent messages on LINE also apologized for not being able to make it due to their schedules. Maybe their upbringing wasn't wrong after all (laughs). We arrived at the restaurant before 11:30. Were they already allowing entry? Did we arrive too early? There were already more than five groups inside. Normally, it's one round for five groups, so are we the second or third round? I thought the wait would be at least an hour. Eel restaurants take time, that's just how it is. Good eel restaurants are worth the wait. Even though we had to wait, they provided us with a pager-style mobile phone. If you sign in order, you can kill time nearby. I didn't intend to buy anything, but I went to the Don Quijote store near the station for trend research and to cool off. It was messy and I didn't feel like buying anything. Eventually, the pager went off. It seemed the wait was about an hour. If you don't arrive within 10 minutes, they cancel your reservation. We were seated at a two-person table as soon as we arrived. Even for two people, they seat you at a four-person table. We were offered a four-person table but declined, which was no problem. I ordered the Matsutake eel for 3,990 yen, and my wife ordered the Bamboo eel for 3,590 yen. We also ordered Umaki for two for 980 yen. Thank you so much, dear wife! It was a generous treat. Surprisingly, the food came out quickly. Maybe around 20-30 groups had entered before they stopped allowing entry. Everyone only eats eel, so maybe it's like an assembly line process? The Umaki that came out was overflowing with broth. At 980 yen, it was very reasonable. Delicious! The eel bowl looked great and delicious! The first bite was soft and fluffy. The ideal texture. Personally, I prefer a bit more sweetness and less soy sauce spiciness. There was wasabi on it, which was unusual. Perhaps they wanted us to enjoy the flavor of the eel without too much sweetness? Regardless, it was quickly devoured. Considering the price and technique, it was quite reasonable. Well done, popular eel restaurant! It was delicious! Thank you very much.

I lined up at a cheap and most delicious eel restaurant at 11 o'clock and was the 11th in line! If you line up around 10:45, you might be able to get in on the first round. I was able to eat around 12 o'clock. I want to come back regularly to eat here!

In Teramachi, Osaka, there is a popular eel restaurant called Funaya. When we went there for lunch, there was already a line of 10 groups ahead of us! It's a really popular place! Many customers were also getting their orders to go. We waited for about an hour! But it was worth it. I ordered an eel roll and a single eel in a box set. The sauce was a bit sweet, and the eel was crispy and delicious!

Soft and fluffy, slightly thin slices? The grilling was perfect! It was delicious! The portion size was great and the cost performance was excellent! The staff were quick and kept refilling our tea. Definitely planning to visit again. We decided to play in Kobe and eat eel in Osaka on the same day, and I'm so happy we found such a great restaurant.

On this day, I decided to treat myself and went to Funaya in Terada-cho ❤️ I arrived around 12:30, but as expected, there was a line just like the reviews said! But even though we had to wait, we just wrote our name down and waited nearby, so it was fine. We waited for about 30-40 minutes! The dishes we ordered were as follows: - Hamidashi Juu (Overflowing Eel Bowl) for 5,590 yen - Mini Hitsumabushi (Grilled Eel Bowl) for 2,980 yen - Grilled Eel Liver for unknown price - Umaki (Small) for 680 yen The Hamidashi Juu had an amazing volume. The thick and fluffy eel with a crispy exterior was incredibly delicious! The sauce was also delicious, and the eel over rice was so good you couldn't stop eating it. Adding wasabi made it even more irresistible! The Mini Hitsumabushi didn't feel mini at all, and it was enjoyable both as hitsumabushi and as an eel bowl. The Grilled Eel Liver was a perfect side dish for sake. Even though it was lunchtime, I felt like having some sake, haha. We also ordered the Umaki in a small size, which was perfect for sharing. It was my first time trying it with pickled ginger, and it was also delicious! There were many autographs of famous people, and the long line was worth it because the food was so delicious. It was the perfect luxurious lunch! Terada-cho is so interesting, I want to explore more! Thank you, Funaya, for the wonderful meal ❤️ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I also share my gourmet experiences on Instagram (*^^*) Please follow me there too! The taste is amazing! The eel has a crispy skin and a soft and tender flesh. The eel here is definitely worth trying. However, the prices keep going up, making it harder to visit casually. Eel has always been considered a luxury dish, but now it's becoming even more expensive. Interestingly, they include a bag of premium sansho pepper with the dish, and there is a note on the wall explaining the high cost of sansho pepper. It was a treat to enjoy the valuable sansho pepper with the delicious eel.

This is an eel restaurant located in front of JR Teradacho Station. I visited after a long time and even on a weekday afternoon, there was a wait, so I waited for about 10 minutes before entering. I ordered the Unaju (bamboo box) (3,590 yen) and Umakai small (680 yen). It took about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. The Unaju comes with pickles and soup. The eel is crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The sauce has a nice sweetness that seeps into the rice below, with a balanced flavor that is not too spicy. The eel was so delicious that I felt like I needed more rice. The Umakai is eel with a gentle Japanese dashi flavor, wrapped in soft and fluffy egg. It was a taste that even children would enjoy. They even provided children's utensils and kindly washed a dish my child accidentally dropped. Despite being busy, the staff were very accommodating. The prices are gradually increasing, but since it's not far from Tennoji, I would consider visiting again as a special treat when in the area.

I finally went to the boat house that I've been curious about for a while! Looking at the menu, the prices were quite high. Since it was my first time and I didn't know what to expect, I decided to order the eel rice bowl set to gauge their skills. After patiently waiting, the dish arrived - it looked delicious even in the bowl! I started by trying the pickles, which were amazingly tasty! If the pickles are this good, then everything else must be delicious too! At this point, my expectations were rising rapidly! Next was the miso soup (I can't wait to try the eel rice bowl haha). It was also incredibly delicious! It had a plant-based broth with shiitake mushrooms, and it was so comforting! Finally, the eel rice bowl made its grand entrance! It didn't have the sansho pepper, which is apparently hard to get, but it still looked delicious! With drool dripping, I took a bite - so delicious! The eel was so tender and the sauce was just right, focusing on the flavor and texture! The taste made my taste buds dance! I savored each bite slowly, feeling happy! The aftertaste of the sauce was minimal, which was impressive! The eel roll was also warm and delicious! The eel was just so delicious that my taste buds were in heaven! Another highlight was the tea. The tea was incredibly delicious! I must have had about 4 cups of refills! It paired perfectly with the set meal, and it had been a while since I had tea that went so well with rice! The restaurant was clean, the staff were calm yet efficient, and their attention to detail was commendable - truly a top-notch restaurant! I would definitely go back for a treat for myself or special occasions! Oh, there are no counter seats, so it might be a bit challenging for solo diners... but maybe try visiting on a weekday lunchtime! I highly recommend this place! If you're in Teramachi, be sure to stop by!

Teradacho is just one stop away from Tennoji. It's a neighborhood with a nice downtown vibe just a little off the beaten path. One minute walk from the station is Funaya, a popular local restaurant. If I had arrived a little later, I might have had to wait in the cold for thirty minutes to an hour. The "Hami-dashi-ju" overflowing from the box and the "Ikada-ju" with two more eels added are tempting, but today I opted for the lighter "Mini Unagi Don Umaki Set Meal". I waited for about 20 minutes with a bottle of beer until it arrived. The waitress said "Sorry for the wait" as she served the meal. When I opened the lid of the bowl, that fragrant aroma hit me right away. It's a small portion, but the visual of three pieces of eel covering the rice is lovely. The grated wasabi piled on top from the start is a distinctive touch. The Umaki is served piping hot with steam rising. The eel, a blend of Edo-style steaming and Kansai-style grilling, has a perfect crispy texture on the outside and melts in your mouth inside. The Umaki showcases a delicate balance of flavors with the broth seeping out. I was impressed by the high-quality liver in the liver soup. Although this time I chose a meal with less rice and didn't leave with a full stomach, next time I want to try the hearty Oju. It was a lunch that made me understand why this place is so popular.

I visited a popular eel restaurant in Teradacho, Osaka for the first time! I arrived on a Sunday afternoon at 7 o'clock and was seated immediately without waiting outside. I ordered the regular size eel bowl with plum sauce. The plump eel with unique Sansho pepper was great! It was delicious, but lacked a distinct character. I wish they would put a little more effort into it.

On a holiday, my mother had a request for lunch, so my wife and I visited the restaurant around 1:00pm. We had to wait outside for about 20 minutes because the restaurant was full. We ordered the Unaju (eel over rice bowl) for 5590 yen, and although we were able to enjoy the eel after a long time, we found that there was not enough rice. It would have been better to choose Hitsumabushi. It was disappointing to hear the owner of the restaurant scolding the staff loudly enough for customers to hear.

I visited the popular unagi restaurant "Funaya" where there is always a long line. Located just a short walk from JR Teradacho Station, I arrived around 1 pm and miraculously there was no line, so I was able to be seated right away. I ordered the "Unaju Bamboo" (including tax 3590 yen). The eel here is prepared by first cutting open the belly in the Kansai style, then steaming it in the Kanto style to make it soft before grilling. The surface is slightly crispy, but the inside is rich and tender, absolutely delicious. The sauce is not too sweet and has a slightly bold flavor, which pairs perfectly with the eel. This was really delicious. It's no wonder there's always a line here. The staff were also very friendly. It's a mystery why this place is not listed in the top 100 unagi restaurants on Tabelog. I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Once a year, I go to this restaurant to treat my family on their birthdays. Since this place doesn't take reservations for dinner, I was nervous. Even though I contacted them in advance, I still couldn't make a reservation. They told me to call ahead in case they run out of eel, so I called in the evening to confirm. I was satisfied with the eel dishes I wanted to eat. I was particularly surprised by the volume of the grilled eel liver. I want to go back again next year.

Unaju Bamboo Box: 3,590 yen Ebisu Large Bottle Beer: 830 yen I heard that eel is especially delicious this time of year because it is fatty, so I decided to go. It's no wonder this place is popular. It was almost full around 6 o'clock. The eel at this restaurant is a blend of Kansai and Kanto styles, and it was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal.
