Inside the store, there are bread and jams displayed as soon as you enter. It opened in May 2013 and started as a select shop for bread, which was a bit unusual. From the following year, they also started serving shaved ice. Previously only available in the summer, last year they were open even in winter. This time, I tried the following: - Pistachio with Raspberry Milk and Grape Topping: A refreshing shaved ice that starts with the richness of pistachio and finishes with the acidity of raspberry. It's so good you could eat it endlessly. - Peach Rare Cheesecake Cream: A dish where you can enjoy the taste of peach from start to finish. I made a same-day reservation and visited the restaurant. The quality of the ice was not the best despite the high price. The taste was delicious and the menu was well curated. The use of rare strawberries justified the high price. However, I don't think it was worth traveling a long distance for this particular shaved ice.

At Betsubara-san in Nishi-Ohashi, Osaka, there is a Hojicha Latte Mochi (1300 yen) on the menu that I immediately wanted to try when I saw it. It has a perfect balance of hojicha milk, sweet potato cream, creamy mochi, whipped cream, and hojicha powder. The combination of hojicha, sweet potato, and mochi is delicious, and the creamy texture is just right.

Peach shaved ice is delicious! The fresh peaches are sweet and have a soft taste. I didn't know peaches could be this tasty! The peach juice soaked into the ice spreads throughout my body. First shaved ice of the year, with apricot and lychee calpis, and almond tofu for 1,350 yen. Second one was peach rare cheesecake for 1,450 yen. Despite the long wait, they were delicious! The peach flavor combined with the refreshing taste of the rare cheesecake made it seem like you could eat them endlessly. The shop is quite small, with mostly tables for two people, so it felt cramped with three adults. They have a system where you need to start writing in the logbook at 11 am. Bitter Lemon Cheese Custard is slightly bitter, slightly sour, and slightly sweet. I prefer it a bit sweeter. Pistachio Raspberry Milk has a nice balance of sweetness. I visited Betsubara, a shop specializing in kakigori (shaved ice) and bread, with my friend Mairebi in Osaka. The shop operates on a reservation-only basis, with on-the-day reservations available if there are still seats left at 11 am, and phone reservations available from 12 pm. We were lucky to secure a reservation for 3 pm on a Friday, as the shop is small and quickly fills up with just 5-6 people. We ordered the following: - My order: Sakura and Lychee Calpis kakigori (1350 yen) - Mairebi's order: Dark Cherry and Almond Milk kakigori (1200 yen) Both of us enjoyed the seasonal Sakura kakigori, with seedless domestic cherries (Napoleon) on top, plum syrup in the middle, and lychee Calpis syrup on the bottom. The plum syrup version complemented the cherry's flavor well, and the Calpis taste was nostalgic. The Dark Cherry and Almond Milk kakigori had a rich dark cherry syrup, almond milk, Kirsch cream, and seasonal fruits on top. The almond syrup with a crunchy texture paired perfectly with the rich dark cherry flavor, and the Kirsch cream added a smooth touch. We enjoyed the different types of seasonal kakigori, which were both delicious. The shop mainly attracts female customers, and the kakigori has a cute and charming appearance.

~Osaka Foodie Adventure~ For our 7th stop, we went directly to the restaurant to make a reservation at the storefront, then left to kill time until our reserved time. We headed to Naniwaya for kakigori, then next door to Shizuku to pass the time before finally arriving at this place. Normally a bakery, they were also serving kakigori for a limited time. When our reserved time came, we entered the shop. We ordered the Dark Cherry and Almond Milk kakigori, and my friend got the Cherry kakigori. The kakigori arrived with cherries on top, followed by whipped cream, Dark Cherry syrup, Almond Milk syrup, and a surprise Kirsh cream inside. The ice was fluffy, the Dark Cherry syrup rich, and the Almond Milk had a gritty almond texture. It was quite delicious! My friend's Cherry kakigori was refreshing and familiar in taste. Winter is here and my craving for shaved ice is in full swing. A friend I met at a cafe recommended a great shaved ice shop called "Betsubara," known for their delicious shaved ice. I always thought of it as a bakery, but apparently their shaved ice is more famous. They sell various breads from different bakeries like Trois from Hirano and Soleil from Himematsu. The shop is small, with a 15cm gap for ventilation, so it's quite chilly inside, hence the need for warm clothing. But hey, we're here for the shaved ice, right? - Mont Blanc (¥1200): Rich chestnut flavor, creamy and fluffy shaved ice with condensed milk. So delicious that I wanted another one. - Sweet Potato Cream (¥950): Strong sweet potato cream flavor, same condensed milk base as Mont Blanc but with maple salt walnuts on top. The saltiness overpowered the sweetness, where's the maple? Both were tasty, but I wish I had chosen a different base. Even though it's winter, I enjoyed the autumn flavors of sweet potato and chestnut. They're always delicious! I used to think shaved ice wouldn't fill me up since the base is just water, but I was wrong. It made me quite full. It was so cold inside that I started to freeze. One cup is not enough, but two cups are too much. I wish they had a mini size option. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.
