Finally arrived at this taste that I've been trying to reach for the third time. This restaurant has actually rejected me twice before due to temporary closures, but thanks to that, I was able to discover BONANZA, so I can't complain. Apparently, it's a related store of my beloved Murakami Curry pulupulu, so I broke my usual rule (chicken and spiciness free limit) and went straight for the "Natto Challenge". I was pumped up to eat "Natto Curry!" even before coming to the restaurant. The exterior and interior of the restaurant is an old building, but the cute and kitschy paint and decor give it a nice touch. The menu overall... is cheap! Well, since I always come here for the natto, I didn't hesitate with the menu at all. The dish that arrived after a 10-minute wait was... Natto Keema, spiciness level 50 (free limit), and extra large rice. Hmm, visually it looks similar to Murakami Curry, but with tofu in it, chopped seaweed on top, and some kind of sprinkles on the rice, which is a bit different. 【Soup】 The abundance of bonito broth really does a great job. The soup is delicious. The flavor of ground natto and the Japanese taste of the soup complement each other perfectly. And there's a sharp spiciness. Of course, it goes extremely well with rice, and I couldn't stop eating with the spoon. It accurately inherits the taste of PuluPulu... not only that, but the flavor feels clear. The sensation of dashi and spices feels refined and elegant. 【Vegetables】 Okra: a staple in natto curry, naturally goes well. Potatoes: boiled in the style of Murakami. Carrots: boiled, sweet and tender. Tofu: goes amazingly well with the natto soup. Wood ear mushrooms: two large pieces in it. 【Rice】 The refreshing and light taste of the rice goes well with the soup. Especially, it matches perfectly with the natto. Korean spice sprinkles... something sprinkled on the rice that goes well with the soup curry! 【Proper way to enjoy natto soup curry】 Put rice in the soup plate! This way of eating natto soup curry is the best (I think). It may not be good manners, but this way of eating is seriously delicious, so I want natto lovers to try it. ◆ There are many variations of Murakami Curry pulupulu's original natto curry, as well as Destroyer Nishisen 14, Destroyer Hokusei 14, and Akatsuki Curry with ground meat and vegetables. This dish is one of them, but do I feel that it has a delicate and elegant taste more than anywhere else? The bonito powder, chopped seaweed, tofu, and the effort put into it... tofu in soup curry was a revelation for me at the former soup curry specialty shop SEASTHEDAY in Iwamizawa. Tofu in soup curry is surprisingly, or rather, really, a good match. Next time, I'll go for tofu toppings here. And I'll go for extra soup and rice, and enjoy this hearty yet delicate soup. A ritual of respect... I forgot to take a picture... Next time for sure! It was really delicious! Thank you for the meal!! ◆ My personal and biased top 10 natto soup curry rankings ◆ My super personal preference Sapporo soup curry top 10 ===========

It's just past 2:30 pm on a regular day. While other shops have their last order times, this place serves until 4 pm as long as they have soup left. It's very much appreciated, especially with the hot weather making it hard to eat anything. I decided to have my favorite soup curry here. The place was not too crowded, which was nice. The owner is always so friendly and welcoming, which makes me feel good. Today, I decided to go for the natto topping. I usually enjoy the soup first and then add the natto later. I chose level 62 spiciness today to avoid sweating too much. The order was taken by a waitress who confirmed the spiciness level again. I wonder if there are many people who go for such spiciness around here. At another shop in the same chain, they go for level 62 recently. Here, even level 70 is fine. The rice portion was small, and I added spinach and edamame as toppings. I also got some very spicy pickles. The soup arrived in less than 10 minutes. The spiciness was just right for me, with a hint of spice that I really enjoyed. I realized that the soup here has a unique punch that I couldn't quite put my finger on before. The natto goes really well with it. The tofu and wood ear mushrooms were a nice touch, and the two potatoes were a pleasant surprise. Next time, I'll add some garlic chives and cartilage as toppings. The toppings are reasonably priced here. The spinach and edamame side dish was gentle but well-made, and the very spicy pickles, while not extremely spicy, complemented the rice well. I left feeling satisfied and energized. I look forward to trying all the items on the menu here. Thanks for the great meal! I'll be back soon!

I had known about Open for a long time, but I finally got to visit for the first time. I heard it was Murakami-style, so I was excited. It's a small shop at the site of Polkiri. I waited outside in the scorching sun, feeling like I was at the seaside due to the heat. After about 30 minutes of waiting, I entered. I deliberately ordered the "Isonori Oyster Kinoko" without the "Purupuru" for 150 yen, a large size soup, a large size rice, and all the side dishes. The soup had silky tofu in it, which was smooth and delicious. The texture of the wood ear mushrooms was also good. I was satisfied with the amount of soup. The spiciness was not that strong, maybe because the soup was mellow, so 150 was totally fine. The price was reasonable at 1200 yen with seafood included, the rice was a large serving at no extra cost, and all the side dishes were delicious and affordable. The staff were also nice, and it became my favorite place. I will definitely visit again.

I had lamb vegetable dish haha. The soup had a natural tomato and curry flavor that was easy to eat and tasty haha. But you know, the vegetables were not that great. The broccoli was frozen and fried, so it was limp and lacked flavor. Other veggies like carrots, eggplant, and peas were also frozen, and to be honest, not delicious haha. Is this really okay? Haha. Thanks for the meal.

I visited the third branch of Enieto in Teine, which is currently expanding its influence. This time it's not a cafe, but a soup curry restaurant. I had been wanting to go for a while and finally made it. When I arrived, there were a few groups waiting, so I sat on a chair outside the shop and waited. I was excited because it had been a while since I had eaten soup curry. In the end, I waited for an hour. This place is really popular. I ordered the Natto Keema (950 yen) with a spice level of 50. I also ordered 250g of rice and added broccoli (+50 yen) as a topping. I also had a strawberry lassi (400 yen). I heard others ordering rice toppings, but I didn't notice. I'll try it next time. The curry had a thick, viscous Japanese-style soup. The combination of natto and minced meat with rice was really good. I could have gone for a larger portion because the rice was disappearing quickly. The ingredients were overall simple, but the soup was delicious. I'll try increasing the spice level next time, as the soup is the type that tastes better when spicier. The strawberry lassi tasted like strawberry jam. I don't visit Murakami-style restaurants often, but this one was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Soup curry restaurant "Yamayamaya" and hand-made soba restaurant "Kishinan" were next to each other, and I was debating which one to go to as I arrived. I finally decided to go to the former because my follower had posted a picture of their curry looking delicious! I ordered the "Nankotsu Keema" with a topping of potato masala, spinach, and edamame subji. The curry was cooked right in front of me at the counter, which was enjoyable to watch. The soup, with a spiciness level of 70, had a tight and spicy flavor with a base of chicken bone and dashi broth, resulting in a rich umami taste. The chicken keema melted evenly into the soup, enhancing the deliciousness. I ended up finishing the curry quickly by pouring it over the rice, which only fueled my appetite further. Although it's a bit far, I've decided to revisit in the future (for the lamb!).-------------- Not forgetting the delicious taste, I visited the soup curry restaurant "Yamayamaya" for the second time in June. Since it's quite far from my home, I arrived slightly after the opening time. Only a four-person table was available, and despite being alone, I was seated there. However, as more customers kept coming in, I felt a bit guilty for occupying the whole table. Maybe next time, I should wear a plate saying "I'm okay with sharing a table"... I ordered the "Lamb Vegetable" with a spiciness level of 80, and added leeks to the curry and pickled green chili and onion achar to the rice. The curry dish served had a generous amount of leeks added, which looked great. The lamb meat was tender and cooked well, reducing its typical "sheep" taste and making it very delicious. I also increased the spiciness by 10 levels from my last visit, finding it within my comfort zone. I have already planned my next visit as I finished my meal. When it gets colder, I will come back to try the "Seaweed Oyster Mushroom" curry!

It seemed like a popular shop, with customers coming in one after another in the small store. I ordered the Chicken Vegetable dish with a spice level of 25, and I chose the regular 250g rice to share with my son. The dish had a large piece of chicken with thick tofu, shiitake mushrooms, bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, and potatoes. The soup was light and watery. I enjoyed the meal, but next time I think I'll make it a bit spicier.

Nankotsu (chicken cartilage) keema with spiciness level of 50, extra large serving. Today's toppings included onion achar, spinach and edamame subji, pickled green nanban, garlic nametake, and umeboshi (pickled plum) tamadare. Stopped by on the way back from Otaru and ordered all side dishes for only 50 yen each - delicious as always!!

【Polkiri】 is trying to change its business model and become a Sri Lankan bento box store. The reason for this decision came from a collaboration project with the previous establishment, 【Netherlands Pancake House Taus】. However, on Friday nights, they will continue to operate as a dine-in restaurant as before, but due to sharing the space, they were concerned about what would become the main store. They then discovered that 【Yamayamaya】, a new restaurant, would be opening through Polkiri's social media. The reviewer first heard of Yamayamaya when it temporarily opened at the former location of 【Okushibashoten Shimotsugawa】 after it closed. After its closure, the reviewer hoped it would reopen elsewhere, but could not find any information about it. However, they later found out that it would operate as a pop-up at the steak and hamburger restaurant 【Teniku】 in Takikawa on Sundays only, and visited it two and a half years ago. The owner mentioned looking for a location around Ebetsu at the time, but was surprised to find out they opened in Teine. Through Polkiri's social media, they learned that Yamayamaya is related to the Murakami family, which led to their visit. Upon arrival at noon, there were only two other groups of customers. The small establishment is run by three staff members, including a male owner and male and female staff members. The reviewer questioned the need for three staff members in such a small shop, but assumed it was a temporary measure as they had only been open for 10 days. They ordered the Chicken Vegetable curry with a spice level of 50. Upon tasting the curry soup, they immediately recognized the unique Murakami style, which focuses on direct spice flavors and a refreshing taste with a sharp finish. The reviewer noted that while the emphasis on spices was evident when they previously dined at Teniku, it was clearer now and reminiscent of what they learned from the owner of 【Murakami Curry Shop Purupuru】. The direct and refreshing spice flavors are unique to the Murakami style. The two main players in the spice-focused curry soup scene are Murakami Curry Shop Purupuru and Gop's Anagra, which both trace their origins back to Sri Lankan Crazy Country. The reviewer observed a congratulatory message on the wall from the earlier opening of a Murakami-style establishment. The owner of Yamayamaya was wearing a Purupuru T-shirt, indicating that they had been taught curry-making by Murakami. This happened around three years ago when they started their pop-up business. The reviewer also mentioned that the owner of Vurst Yoshida, a sausage shop in Shinotsugawa, visited shortly after opening. They wished Yamayamaya continued success in the future.

One week after opening. It was just before 1 pm on a weekday. There were 3 table seats and 2 counter seats. Luckily, I was able to get a seat, but there was a constant flow of customers and it was always full. There were also customers ordering takeout. I wanted to order my favorite Nankotsu Keema, but they were sold out of Nankotsu. I was disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Kinoko Vegetable for 1100 yen, with a little bit of rice (80g) for -50 yen, and green nanban pickles topping for 50 yen. I chose spice level 68, which is similar to Destroyer's. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was nice. I chatted with some familiar faces while waiting for about 20 minutes for my order to arrive. The soup was very similar to Destroyer's, with almost the same level of spiciness. The plate also seemed to be the same. The green nanban pickles had a strong flavor and went well with the rice. The achar is something to look forward to. The chicken was tender, but not too soft, with a good meaty texture. The vegetables were delicious too. Although the restaurant had just opened, the menu had already changed slightly. I was happy to see that it came with wood ear mushrooms by default. They were large and chewy. Another restaurant, Polkiri, which operates in the same location, is now only open on Friday nights, so I was glad to have found a soup curry place that I like in Teine. It would be even better if they offered more toppings or the option to change the vegetables like Destroyer, but it seems difficult with their current capacity. I hope they will offer Pocari Sweat and fish sauce in the future. If this place becomes really popular and moves to a larger location, I would be sad, but the owner seems nice and I want to support the restaurant from the shadows. I will definitely go back, this time to try the Nankotsu. Thank you for the meal!

I came across a picture on Instagram that looked like my favorite soup curry from "Soup Curry 34", with simple ingredients, soup, and a bowl that reminded me of "Murakami Purupuru". I couldn't resist and decided to visit the restaurant on the second day of its opening. The parking lot had space for about 2 cars in front of the store, and additional parking was available at the shopping plaza behind the store. The interior had a counter for 2 people and tables for 10, with reggae music playing in the background, adding to the Murakami curry vibe. The restaurant was run by a young couple, with the help of what seemed to be the father and grandmother during opening hours, along with a male and female helper, giving it a very homey atmosphere. I ordered the Lamb Vegetable soup curry for 1,350 yen, along with an Onion Achaar for 50 yen and 250g of rice with a spice level of 49. The soup base was clear and had a sharp taste, with a hint of Japanese-style umami from chicken bones, vegetables, and a bit of kelp. Compared to Murakami curry, it had a slightly thicker consistency, with a pleasant onion flavor and a moderate amount of salt. The spices were multi-dimensional and not too overpowering, more on the robust and straightforward side, with a good balance of flavors. The lamb was tender and flavorful, although I felt the portion was a bit small. The bell peppers were fresh and crunchy, while the other vegetables like potatoes and broccoli were boiled, which complemented the clear soup well. I felt that the paprika could have been cut into larger pieces to enhance the visual appeal. The rice was cooked slightly firm, a classic choice for soup curry. The spice level of 49 may be borderline for those not used to spiciness, so a level between 30-49 might be more suitable for most people. The Onion Achaar was a familiar type found in Murakami-style curry, with a refreshing and spicy flavor that I enjoyed. Overall, I found this soup curry to be refreshing and flavorful, with a promising future. I still believe it resembles Murakami Purupuru curry, and I hope to see someone try the Natto Keema curry to confirm this. [Update] The day after posting this review, I received confirmation from a soup curry enthusiast that the husband at the restaurant had training experience at Samurai, Okushiba Shoten, and Murakami Purupuru. Thank you for the information.

I received new restaurant information from MyRebi-san and decided to visit. I am usually busy going out to eat and reviewing, so I don't have time to gather information on new places. That's why getting information from MyRebi-san like "There's this new place, could you go check it out?" is really helpful. The restaurant is called "Soup curry Yamayamaya" and it opened on May 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM. It is located at 3-7-3, Teine Inaho, Handa, along Route 5, on the 1st floor of the Kogane Shopping Plaza. There are parking spaces for 3 cars in front of the store, and additional parking is available a little further away at the shopping plaza. When I arrived 5 minutes before opening, there were already 13 people waiting in line. The interior of the restaurant has 8 seats in total, with 4 seats at 2 tables for 4 people and 1 table for 2 people. The operation of the restaurant seemed a bit disorganized. The menu includes 7 types of soup curry, a kids' curry, 20 toppings, and drinks including "Sapporo Classic 500ml bottle @500 yen." The spiciness level can be chosen from 1 to 100, with increments of 50 yen for levels above 50. I ordered the "Chicken Vegetable @1,050" with a spiciness level of 100 and a small portion of rice (150g). I waited for 40 minutes to be seated, and then it took another 30 minutes for the food to be served. It's a good thing I had time to spare that day. Takeout orders are also accepted, but it may be a bit challenging until you get used to the menu. The ingredients in the soup curry included potatoes, carrots, chicken legs, thick tofu, bell peppers, wood ear mushrooms, and broccoli. The chicken was cooked just right, not too soft or too tough. The spiciness level of 100 was decent, and adding 50 yen for extra spiciness was a good deal. The soup had a light thickness with a natural dashi flavor, a slight acidity, and a balanced sweetness. It was not too salty, which I personally liked. The rice was cooked slightly firm, which may vary depending on personal preference. The price of the soup curry was reasonable compared to other places that have been increasing their prices. I hope they continue to do well. Next time, I plan to try adding natto and minced meat topping. Unfortunately, the croissant specialty store next door, "Fukai Shoten," was already closed by the time I finished my meal. Thank you for the delicious meal.

On a regular weekday afternoon around 3:30pm. The restaurant should be open until 4pm as long as they have soup left. I decided to call ahead since I was short on time. Luckily, they said it would only take about 10 minutes to prepare my order. I ordered the Nan Kotsu Keema for 1100 yen, with a spice level of 70 plus 50 yen, no rice, and no extra charge for the container. Total of 1150 yen. When I went to pick up my order, there were only two customers leaving, and I saw a sign saying they were closing due to running out of soup. Just made it in time. As always, the owner and staff were very friendly and gave off a good impression. They even provided rice for me to eat at home. The dish was surprisingly thick and went well with the rice. The lotus root was chopped up and added a nice texture. The other ingredients were quite generous, with two pieces of each. Overall, it was delicious. Just like the Destroyer, the slight variations in taste from the ingredients made it enjoyable. I will definitely go back again, maybe try the natto next time. Thank you for the meal.
