North Wind
Continuation of the last Sunday of August ....... The place is still at Salmon Park Chitose Road Station, at the Shunsaikan (Seasonal Vegetables Hall) after shopping, we moved to a unique store area called Factory Market Kanto. The name "Kanto" in this store's name means "sky" or "space" in Ainu language. Today at Salmon Park Chitose Road Station, the weather is nice, so it's quite crowded. As I navigate through the crowd, I try to find something interesting to buy. But since I've already done a lot of shopping today, I think to myself, "I wonder if there's anything else to buy." Suddenly, I see some delicious-looking ham and sausages being sold. They seem to be from Chitose Ham, giving off a local vibe. I'm just observing, while my wife seems to have won the purchasing desire this time. She grabs the sausage bag and heads straight to the checkout counter to make a purchase. Huh? I have no idea what's going on. Later, when we get back to the car, I ask her about it, and she says she thought they looked delicious and wanted to have them for breakfast or as a side dish for lunch. Well, okay then. I'm looking forward to tasting them later. As for the actual tasting, it was at breakfast the next day. We had toast for breakfast that day, with a Western-style menu. As I sit at the table, my wife is in the middle of plating the boiled sausages she bought. Along with toast, we had boiled "White Wiener Sausages" (380 yen tax included) she bought, served with a fried egg, tomato, and other sides. The sausage has a unique crispy texture and is juicy, with the meaty flavor spreading in my mouth. It tastes surprisingly good. The packaging says, "Made with Hokkaido pork, a soft texture with a juicy, non-smoky flavor." It's natural and doesn't have an artificial spice taste. I only planned to have one sausage for breakfast, but it was so good I wanted another one. I had never heard of Chitose Ham before, but they might be a noteworthy manufacturer. As for this store Kanto, it gives off a bakery vibe, but it's actually a factory market that sells local products. Salmon Park Chitose Road Station has been significantly upgraded, making it more powerful than other road stations. I look forward to revisiting this store next time.
