Gift shop zone at the Salmon Park roadside station. They have giant Jagapokkuru, and a wide variety of Hokkaido souvenirs. This time, I tried Calbee Smoked Potato Chips. I love smoked food! These chips come in a small bag, but they are thicker than regular potato chips. They have a strong smoky aroma and taste more like baked potatoes. Perfect for snacking! Goes well with beer! They also have a bread corner, but I didn't notice it. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Factory Market Kanto for the first time! It is a shop inside Salmon Park Chitose, a roadside station. I was looking for something good to eat... and I found it! "Chitose Carpaccio" from Chitose Ham, priced at a reasonable 550 yen including tax. I enjoyed it with beer and wine. It has a strong texture with a satisfying chewiness, and the flavor gets better with each bite. The pork used is locally sourced from Hokkaido. It turns out that Chitose Ham's carpaccio is delicious too. Thank you for the meal!

Continuation of the last Sunday of August ....... The place is still at Salmon Park Chitose Road Station, at the Shunsaikan (Seasonal Vegetables Hall) after shopping, we moved to a unique store area called Factory Market Kanto. The name "Kanto" in this store's name means "sky" or "space" in Ainu language. Today at Salmon Park Chitose Road Station, the weather is nice, so it's quite crowded. As I navigate through the crowd, I try to find something interesting to buy. But since I've already done a lot of shopping today, I think to myself, "I wonder if there's anything else to buy." Suddenly, I see some delicious-looking ham and sausages being sold. They seem to be from Chitose Ham, giving off a local vibe. I'm just observing, while my wife seems to have won the purchasing desire this time. She grabs the sausage bag and heads straight to the checkout counter to make a purchase. Huh? I have no idea what's going on. Later, when we get back to the car, I ask her about it, and she says she thought they looked delicious and wanted to have them for breakfast or as a side dish for lunch. Well, okay then. I'm looking forward to tasting them later. As for the actual tasting, it was at breakfast the next day. We had toast for breakfast that day, with a Western-style menu. As I sit at the table, my wife is in the middle of plating the boiled sausages she bought. Along with toast, we had boiled "White Wiener Sausages" (380 yen tax included) she bought, served with a fried egg, tomato, and other sides. The sausage has a unique crispy texture and is juicy, with the meaty flavor spreading in my mouth. It tastes surprisingly good. The packaging says, "Made with Hokkaido pork, a soft texture with a juicy, non-smoky flavor." It's natural and doesn't have an artificial spice taste. I only planned to have one sausage for breakfast, but it was so good I wanted another one. I had never heard of Chitose Ham before, but they might be a noteworthy manufacturer. As for this store Kanto, it gives off a bakery vibe, but it's actually a factory market that sells local products. Salmon Park Chitose Road Station has been significantly upgraded, making it more powerful than other road stations. I look forward to revisiting this store next time.

Visited Salmon Park Chitose in November 2015 and tried the "Walnut Potato Anpan" and "Petit Caramel" for a total of 410 yen. This shop sells souvenirs from Hokkaido and offers bread from Boulangerie Lyon d'Or. It's a convenient place to buy bread since it's not easily accessible. The Petit Caramel was moist and delicious with a caramel flavor. The Walnut Potato Anpan had a good balance of sweetness with moist potato filling, although it could have had more walnuts.

This is a shop inside a roadside station that sells various items, but I bought everyday bread. - Moist chocolate cake: 380 yen + tax Not very moist, but just right in sweetness. Convenient as it is pre-sliced and ready to eat. - Walnut coconut mountain: 160 yen + tax Contains walnuts but the dough is very light. - Cinnamon roll: 300 yen + tax Large and full of volume, with plenty of melted sugar and moist dough. - Camembert cheese: 170 yen + tax Firm dough with cheese inside, a very light bread. - Hokkaido condensed milk sandwich: 180 yen + tax Despite the condensed milk, the cream is not very sweet and has a hint of acidity. In addition to bread, they also sell famous Hokkaido confectioneries like Jagapokkuru. The bread is from Boulangerie Lyon d'Or. Thank you for the meal.

On September 13, 2015, I visited Salmon Park after coming all the way to Chitose in the rain. Although there are plenty of parking spaces available, it was quite difficult to find one as it was full. This shop sells popular snacks like Jagapokkuru, bread, ANA goods, etc., but I fell in love with the Shikotsu Water Jelly, which is exclusive to Salmon Park. This product is made by Morimoto and has a lovely package. I also bought some bread. I was really looking forward to trying the water jelly, which comes in a pack of 3 with black honey sauce and soybean flour. When I tried the water jelly on its own, it just slid down my throat. But when I tried it with the black honey and soybean flour, it became even more delicious. Shikotsu Lake has the best water quality in Japan, and having water jelly made from that water is truly luxurious. ✿ฺ(๑´ڡ`๑)✿ฺ.

The "Salmon Park Chitose Michi no Eki" in Chitose City, Hokkaido was extremely crowded, making it difficult to walk around. It seems like it had just reopened after renovations, which I didn't know about. I went into a shop called "Kanto" which was relatively empty and had a variety of delicious Hokkaido products. I chose a bread called "Yomogi Kinshi", which had a nice balance of yomogi flavor without being too overpowering, and the bread itself was soft with a good chewy texture. It wasn't too sweet, which was great. Overall, it was a tasty and healthy bread option.

I happened to visit Salmon Park Chitose Roadside Station on its opening day, and it was extremely crowded. There was a long line at Kanto, where they sell bread and other items. I bought a melon bread and soft Camembert from there. The melon bread had the typical taste with a sweet and sticky texture on top, like a snack that kids would enjoy. The soft Camembert, as the name suggests, had a creamy texture with Camembert cheese and cream mixed inside soft bread dough. The taste was standard for a pastry, without any special wheat flavor. There was a good variety of bread available, so there might be other delicious options that I didn't try this time. The staff seemed to be working hard despite the busy atmosphere. ☆☆☆ Next Episode Preview ☆☆☆ I might buy more when I visit Salmon Park Chitose Roadside Station again.

Another delicious gift! This is definitely a perfect snack to go with beer. As soon as I opened the bag, the strong smoky aroma hit me. I used to think I liked smoked foods, but now I'm not so sure... Smoked cheese is something I enjoy, but for some reason, I think I might be developing a dislike for smoky flavors. The taste of these snacks wasn't as smoky as the smell. They were a bit tough, so people with sensitive teeth might struggle to eat them. They made a good beer snack though. Thank you for the meal!

On the third day of the Sapporo and Noboribetsu GOTO trip, I arrived at "Ajino Daioh Sohonten" in Tomakomai and had "Curry Ramen". Then, I traveled 15km north for 20 minutes to arrive at Salmon Park Chitose at exactly 12 o'clock. This roadside station is known for the Chitose River where salmon return, and you can see the scene of salmon catching using an Indian water wheel from the bridge. Next to it is the Chitose Aquarium, which has a huge freshwater tank and serves as a base for salmon. The large roadside station has a convenience store, a direct sales store for agricultural products, a market, and a food court, where I got the following items from the "Factory Market Kanto": ◆North Sablé Salmon 630 yen ◆Flavored Lamb Jingisukan 800g 1760 yen. I bought the salmon-flavored Western confectionery "North Sablé Salmon" as a souvenir for my friend, and for myself, I bought the frozen "Flavored Lamb Jingisukan" and brought it back to Osaka in a cool bag. I plan to treat my hungry friends with a "Jingisukan hot pot" for dinner in the future (^o^)/. On the first day, I enjoyed the completely mild raw mutton at Daruma Honpo in Susukino, Sapporo, but this "Chitose Lamb Workshop" flavored lamb Jingisukan is made by marinating thick slices of high-quality lamb in a special sauce made with haskap wine, among other ingredients. By heating the Jingisukan hot pot and lining the edges with onions and green onions, and then grilling the flavored lamb loin in the center, the meat's fat and sauce will flow down, and the vegetables will also be deliciously grilled. I made a dipping sauce by mixing honey, apple juice, and white sesame seeds with a commercially available Jingisukan sauce to make it sweeter, which complemented the rich flavor of the meat's special sauce perfectly! Thanks to the haskap wine, it was fruity and tender, and juicy - it's all about the meat. Additionally, I grilled cabbage, bean sprouts, and garlic chives for extra vegetables, making it a satisfying and affordable Jingisukan party. Now, let's return the rental car and head to New Chitose Airport. But first, we need to fill up the gas tank! Bon appétit (●^o^●)

In November 2020, a friend who went to Noboribetsu Onsen gave me a gift. On the way from Noboribetsu to New Chitose Airport, they stopped by the roadside station "Salmon Park Chitose" and bought it for me (thank you). "Salmon Park Chitose" is a roadside station with many shops, and this time they bought it at the market "Kanto," where good and delicious things from Hokkaido are gathered. ☆ Hokkaido Salmon Sablé 630 yen (tax included) This is a limited product at Salmon Park Chitose, with salmon flakes in a dough made with Hokkaido butter. (I'm happy to have limited edition products like this.) I tried it right away. The sablé had a crispy texture, and the surface seemed to have granulated sugar. The buttery flavor and sweetness were delicious, although I couldn't really taste the salmon flakes. It was a perfect match for black tea. Thank you for the meal!
