Today's lunch was at Gin Kuma, a restaurant where rice is served cooked in a pot, which gives it a special feeling. The menu has a lot of fish options. I ordered the seasonal menu, Hokke Fry Gozen for 1,130 yen (including tax). I also ordered the chicken Karaage as an extra. The Hokke Fry was served with tartar sauce and was delicious. The freshly fried Hokke was very tasty. The rice cooked in the pot was fluffy and delicious. Although the portion of rice was large, I found myself finishing it without realizing. It was a very delicious lunch!

On the way to visit the grave, I thought it would be crowded, so I decided to go right after the store opened. My family recommended the Salmon Harasu set meal, so I ordered it. The restaurant started to get busy, and the staff explained that it would take some time. While waiting, I started to get hungry. The rice was cooked in a pot and fluffy, and the salmon harasu had just the right amount of fat, making it easy to eat with chopsticks. I had lost my appetite due to being hospitalized, so eating this amount was a bit tough, but it was delicious.

During our trip to Asahikawa, my husband ordered the Oyster Set Meal, I had the Crab Kamameshi, and our child had a small portion of rice and vegetable salad. The Crab Kamameshi was so delicious that I finished it quickly, even though it was served with a small amount of rice equivalent to about three bowls. The pot on the right was for making ochazuke, but I preferred eating the crab without the broth as I found the broth overpowering the flavor of the crab. The total cost for our order was 3564 yen, which was reasonable. The meal was delicious, and the semi-private room was convenient for us as a family with children.

In early spring, when I passed by, I found myself at this restaurant without realizing it. I finally got to visit the set meal restaurant "Kamadaki Gohan Gin Kuma". It is located at 1-4-4 Suhara, Asahikawa City, you can find the map here https://goo.gl/maps/mVjgxKf5KEwHAKXU9. Open from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 21:30, closed on Thursdays. They have parking and takeout available. [Please contact the store for the current opening/closing/takeout situation]. Official Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ginkuma2022/ Official website https://ginsharitei-kumada.com. It opened on May 30, 2022, located between "Katsuya Shokudo" and "Vista Revista". It seems like this is the former location of the motorcycle shop "Red Baron"? The parking lot is quite spacious and nice. It is operated by "Kumada Co., Ltd." in Asahikawa, but the food business is the second store in Asahikawa, with the first being "Gin Shari Tei Kumada" in Obihiro. The reception uses a digital ticketing machine, but if there are empty seats, the staff will guide you immediately. The interior of the restaurant is spacious, with children's chairs available. Each table has partitions, creating a calm atmosphere. The tables have sauce, soy sauce, a description of Kamadaki Gohan, and an explanation of the "dashi pot". Now, let's take a look at the menu. In addition to chicken tempura and rice balls, the lineup of fish dishes is extensive, reflecting the company's expertise in seafood. It's rare to find a set meal restaurant in the city with such a variety of fish dishes, which is great. They all look delicious. While I was tempted by the winter limited menu, I ended up choosing the Oyster Fry Set Meal for 1430 yen. It comes with various side dishes. First, I mix the white rice in the pot and let it steam for a while. The accompanying dishes include my favorite dried radish and tartar sauce for the oyster fry. There's also rolled omelette, pickles, miso soup, and the main dish, oyster fry. The taste of the ocean is so rich and unique, with the seasonal flavor of oysters. It's a delight. The side dishes are each delicious on their own. In particular, the dried radish has the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness that I love. The Kamadaki rice is also worth mentioning, as it brings out the full flavor of the rice. It's fluffy and full of rice flavor. There were two servings in a regular bowl. Even for someone like me who appreciates freshly cooked rice, the taste was exceptional. I could tell right away. Next time, I'll try the fish set meal. [Tabelog]

Finally, I visited this restaurant after thinking about it for a long time because it specializes in kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot) and I needed to have some free time to do so. I had been considering the menu options even before the restaurant opened, and I was torn between the fish dishes. In the end, I chose the marinated silver cod with salt koji and sake lees, while my companion went for the spicy herring. The rice, cooked in an iron pot with rice from Higashikagura, was aromatic and glossy, probably made with new rice. The silver cod had the exact flavor I had imagined, thanks to the marination in salt koji and sake lees. The restaurant has cleverly incorporated their own processed fish into the kama-meshi, ensuring a consistent and familiar taste. The lack of burnt rice (okoge) may be due to the Teflon pot used, but a slightly longer cooking time might improve the dish. It would also be nice to see a greater variety of fish options on the menu, to encourage repeat visits. I look forward to trying the oyster fry set, which will be available later.

I finally visited Gin Kuma, which had been recommended to me by others. I was torn between meat and fish, but ended up choosing the Autumn Salmon Set Meal. It came with a small side dish and miso soup, and the portion size was quite generous. I arrived shortly after the restaurant opened, but there were already several customers inside. The rice cooked in a pot was particularly delicious. Next time, I think I'll try the meat dishes.

For dinner, I visited "Kamadaki Gohan Gin Kuma" in Suehiro, Asahikawa City for the first time. I ordered the "Jidashi Tokisake Gohan" for 1,353 yen, while my companion ordered the "Torikaraage Gohan" for 1,100 yen. The dishes were served in about 15 minutes. The "Jidashi Tokisake Gohan" came with kamadaki rice, miso soup, 2 small side dishes, tamagoyaki, and pickles, offering a well-balanced meal. The kamadaki rice was shiny and the grains stood out, truly delicious with a perfect texture. I really like "Nanatsuboshi" rice. The Tokisake (time-seasoned salmon) had a delightful sweetness from salt koji and a rich aroma from sake lees, incredibly tasty. It was also nice to have small side dishes and tamagoyaki included. The "Torikaraage Gohan" came with kamadaki rice, miso soup, 1 small side dish, tamagoyaki, and pickles, offering a generous portion. The karaage was well-seasoned, and the chicken breast was tender with a light coating, making it easy to eat. Payment was made at the self-checkout machine. I will definitely revisit when I crave delicious Japanese set meals.

I have always been curious about this restaurant, which is a direct store of a long-established food processing and wholesale company in historic Asahikawa! I visited with my family of three on a Sunday around 7:30 pm. There was plenty of parking space, making it very easy to park. As soon as we entered the store, there was a handwashing area, which made us feel at ease. The interior of the store has semi-private rooms, and they have excellent infection control measures in place. On this day, we ordered the Striped Hokke Gozen, Salmon Harasu Gozen, and a side of Roast Marinated Pork and Tororo. I was surprised by the size of the Striped Hokke, which exceeded my imagination! The flesh was packed tightly and delicious. The Salmon Harasu ordered by my parents had just the right amount of fat and paired perfectly with plenty of grated daikon radish. The Roast pork, cooked to a glossy finish, was very appetizing. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the luxury of being able to enjoy it piping hot until the end was a treat. Rice cooked in a pot is really nice. The small dishes of rolled omelette, spinach with sesame dressing, and high-quality tofu were plentiful, almost too much for a woman to finish. If you can't finish your meal, you can even take the rice home. I forgot to take a picture, but the Tororo was also delicious. They hand-grate local nagaimo (long yam) every day for serving! The store was clean, probably because it had just opened. I heard they have limited-time seasonal menus, so I definitely want to visit again.

A while ago, a restaurant serving clay pot rice opened in Suehiro. It seems to have been quite popular in Obihiro, and now a new branch has opened in Asahikawa. It seems that the company in Asahikawa is the one running it. You can get in right away. In Asahikawa, no matter what kind of restaurant it is, a huge crowd always flocks to it when it first opens. Waiting for 1-2 hours is normal. But that's not the case here, haha. Because after a while, you can get in right away. It seems you can also make reservations online, but on this day, it was just before 8 pm on a weekday... I got in without waiting at all, haha. The main menu is the clay pot silver rice, which comes with side dishes in a set meal style. There also seems to be various seasonal side dishes. I've included a few photos of some selections. If you want to see them all, click here. Saba... Grilled mackerel with miso and salt. Both are good side dishes to go with rice. Hmm, it's a tough choice... maybe I'll go with the mackerel with miso... it's quite restrained. The autumn salmon marinated in Otokoyama sake. This also looks good. Just the silver rice alone... marinated in sake lees from Otokoyama, autumn salmon. This looks good too. But how much rice do you get if you just order the silver rice...? This is something to consider. Eating freshly cooked rice with raw egg. That sounds good too. Kama meshi. I really struggled with this one. Chicken karaage and seasonal limited edition eel kama meshi. But 1628 yen... that's a bit of a dilemma. Well, it seems cheap for eel, but... I want to try the silver rice first. I'll save the eel for next time. But... the eel is only available in summer. I looked into it and it seems the onigiri is quite large. A child couldn't finish one, apparently. You can eat it as a set with side dishes, or on its own. Side dishes. You can also order side dishes individually. So, you can have two or three side dishes with the silver rice. But... it didn't say anything about extra servings. I wonder how much rice you get. It takes about 20 minutes to cook. So, please be patient. It was mentioned. Well, it's worth waiting for something delicious. Waiting for cooking is no trouble at all. Chicken karaage - 605 yen I ordered the chicken karaage as a single item. They used chicken breast. So, it was a bit dry, but still, for breast meat, it was tender and juicy. I wish you could order as many pieces as you like instead of just in a set. Grilled salmon belly - 693 yen I ordered this as a single item. But is it bigger than this? This is the grilled salmon belly that came with the salmon belly grilled rice set (1188 yen). Well, even as a single item, this is quite fatty. It's seasoned with salt without soy sauce, so you can eat five bowls of silver rice with just this. Marinated pork loin - 1210 yen After much deliberation, I chose this. I actually wanted to eat a variety of small side dishes. But well, with karaage, salmon, and meat, this should be enough. I'm just worried if there's enough rice. Three small side dishes - small rolled omelette, simmered hijiki seaweed, pickled daikon radish. The side dishes came like this. By the way, the salmon belly rice set came with spinach with sesame dressing. The side dishes vary depending on the set. Silver rice. A 10-second video of freshly cooked rice. I want to eat rice like this every day. Freshly cooked rice makes you want to eat as much as you can. But, I'd probably gain a lot of weight, haha. Still, even without side dishes, this alone is enough. Hmm, freshly cooked rice is so delicious. I could eat as many bowls as I want. If 1 pot is 260g and 1 bowl is 180g, it's a bit on the smaller side. Well, for a normal person, a slightly larger portion would suffice. For men, they might want to eat a bit more. However, it seems they don't offer extra servings. If you wanted to eat more, you'd have to go to another place, haha. There's quite a lot of volume in the marinated pork loin. They arranged it nicely, with cabbage standing on top.

It seems like the amount of food in the onigiri set is suitable for children. The onigiri is quite big, so my daughter in first grade couldn't finish one by herself haha. The only juice options were orange juice and cola, but I didn't want to give her cola yet, so it was orange juice only. The fried chicken was made with chicken breast, so it was tasty for adults. However, my child found it hard to chew and was upset because it wasn't the usual juicy fried chicken made with thigh meat. They don't have a kids' menu, which can be tough for parents. I wish they had a kids' menu, maybe with options like hamburgers. But the rice was really delicious!! The fish was also tasty!! This place is more geared towards adults. The appetizer was... I think we could do without it... My child enjoyed it, but personally, I would like to go back again. Maybe I'll sneak in for lunch while my child is at school.

"I can use the Hokkaido certification shop support coupon from my first visit, and I have completely fallen in love with it. The main reason is... yes! The rice is delicious. I wish I had a body that can eat a lot... When I come to Gin Kuma, I always think... haha. The grilled mackerel set meal is a must-try. It's not a lot of menu items, but I always have a hard time deciding because everything is delicious. The secret "a la carte" dishes for enjoying rice are also not to be underestimated. The ochazuke set is also a must-have. The kamameshi... is also exquisite. The grilled mackerel is cooked just right, with crispy skin and moist flesh. The saltiness is also perfect. The shrimp fry is plump and the batter is crispy, with good oil drainage and a good taste of oil. The tea pickles on this day were supposed to be "plum tea pickles." I thought I had ordered just the plum as a single item, but when it arrived, there was an "onigiri" next to the mackerel... When I explained that I had intended to order the single plum, they took away the onigiri and brought me the single plum. They put the onigiri in a pack for takeout and said, "Please take it home if you like." The customer service was also excellent. A restaurant where you can be satisfied both physically and mentally. When you want to eat delicious rice, Gin Kuma is the place to go. Thank you for the meal."

The restaurant that had been a hot topic even before it opened. I decided to visit after observing for a while due to the long waiting time. When I visited on a weekday night, there were many cars in the parking lot! Moreover, many groups were waiting inside their cars... Upon entering, it all made sense. Customers who did not make a web reservation registered their phone numbers at the system reception after arriving and waited in their cars. They received a notification without an automatic voice message when their table was ready. I was seated sooner than I expected, but it took about 40 minutes for the food to be served after ordering. The Mackerel Miso Stew Set for 1188 yen. The rice cooked in a pot was glossy and had a good texture, with a slight firmness and no stickiness. It had a mild sweetness. The mackerel was a bit firm, and the miso sauce was a bit too strong for my taste. The miso soup was delicious. The side dishes included tasty koya tofu with a light dashi flavor, spinach with sesame dressing, lightly pickled cabbage, and a small piece of savory egg omelet. I noticed what seemed to be the owner occasionally checking on the restaurant's situation while I was dining. It's important to have that kind of on-site supervision, isn't it?

On a weekday evening, I had the "Tokisake Gozen" for dinner, priced at 1353 yen. It was a Friday evening without my daughter, so my wife and I decided to visit this place that we had been curious about since it was under construction. We arrived at 18:51 and, as expected, the place was full. We registered our phone number and waited in the car. After 15 minutes, we were able to enter the restaurant. Their specialty is freshly cooked rice using a feather pot. They start cooking the rice after you order, so the waiting time is a bit long. I chose marinated salmon, while my wife chose mackerel miso stew. The company that operates this place is a seafood processing and wholesaler, so our expectations for the side dishes were high. Our food arrived after 30 minutes. I couldn't wait and dug into the rice first. It was delicious! The slightly firm rice was perfectly cooked. And the marinated salmon was amazing, marinated in salt koji and sake lees. It was the ultimate marinated fish. The side dishes were also excellent. It was a meal that kept us busy with our chopsticks. My wife enjoyed the mackerel miso stew as well. We savored every bite and finished our meal with satisfaction. It was a great dining experience, and we left at 20:08. Because of the long wait time, this place is more suitable for weekend dinners. We will definitely come back again!

A restaurant serving delicious kettle-cooked rice opened on May 30th along the ring road in Suehiro, Asahikawa City. It was the first weekend since opening, and when I arrived 7-8 minutes before opening, there were already people lining up. By 11:30, it seemed like the restaurant was already full. The partitioned interior allows customers to enjoy their meal without worrying about others around them. They offer set meals with kettle-cooked rice served with fish or meat dishes, as well as kettle-cooked rice, onigiri, and more. I ordered the "Salmon Harasu Grilled Set" (1,188 yen) and the "Dashi Tea-Soaked Rice Set" (165 yen) for my second serving of kettle-cooked rice as ochazuke. It took about 20 minutes for the kettle-cooked rice to be ready since they cook it upon ordering. The freshly cooked fluffy rice was amazing! The salmon harasu was served with just the right amount of fat and grilled to perfection. The set meal also included spinach with sesame dressing, dried daikon radish, rolled omelette, and pickles that complemented the rice well. For the ochazuke set, the dashi pot contained dashi made from bonito flakes and Rausu kelp. I topped the remaining harasu with green onions, seaweed, and ginger, poured the dashi over it, and enjoyed a different kind of deliciousness compared to eating just plain rice. They also offer a variety of side dishes, so if you feel like you need more than what's included in the set meal, you can order additional items to enhance your dining experience!

Freshly cooked rice with delicious side dishes... the white rice goes so fast that you'll be craving more! If you're looking for dishes to go with your white rice, this place is a must-visit. You won't regret it. The "Iwashi Menta Gohan" is 980 yen, the "Negi-iri Atsuyaki Tamago" is 270 yen, the "Tori Karaage" (juicy chicken thigh) is 550 yen, and the "Nameko Oroshi" is 150 yen (all prices before tax).

It was past 8:00 pm, but it was quite crowded, probably because it was only the second day since the opening. However, you can check in with a tablet and they also call you, so I was able to wait in the car. I was called in about 20 minutes and ordered the fried chicken set. They said it would take about 20 minutes, but it didn't feel like it took that long. The rice was freshly cooked, which was good, but the taste was so-so. There was a huge amount of fried chicken compared to the menu, which felt like a bit of a rip-off (lol). Considering it's only 1000 yen, I think it's actually pretty good. I don't think it's feasible for a quick lunch break, but if you have the time, it's worth considering as an option.
