Today, I had lunch at this restaurant. I was originally planning to visit a curry shop that turned out to be closed, so I decided to try this Nepali cuisine place that was headed in the same direction. It’s a regular on the list of top restaurants and is quite popular. I arrived around 12:00 PM on a weekday, and there was a shared table available in the center. Within 10 minutes, the place was fully booked. There are 10 table seats, but all were shared, making the atmosphere a bit cramped... For my order, I chose this menu:
- F set Deluxe Set 1,300 yen (including tax, spice level: 4 Very Hot, drink: Iced Chai)
First, the salad and iced chai arrived. The salad was a fresh vegetable mix with a typical dressing and some pineapple. It was quite tasty. About 10 minutes later, the main plate and naan arrived. The deluxe set included spinach chicken curry, vegetable curry, a large freshly baked naan, mini rice, reshmi kabab, tandoori chicken, and mango pudding.
The spinach chicken curry, also known as saag chicken curry, had a thick spinach base with tender pieces of chicken, and a refreshing touch of ginger. The “very hot” spice level was pretty spicy! The vegetable curry had pumpkin, carrot, and potato blended into a rich, sweet sauce, and it was healthy without being greasy. This one was also spicy. The reshmi kabab was an Indian-style sausage with cheese and ginger, but it felt a bit dry, and I couldn’t really taste the cheese. The spices had a nice aroma. The tandoori chicken was reliably delicious—tender and packed with flavor.
Oh, how I wanted a beer… The naan was quite large, chewy, and thick, making it feel a bit heavy. I prefer it a little crispier, but it might be perfect for those who want to eat their fill. With the mini rice included, I left about a third of my meal uneaten… The mango pudding was quite thick as well, and I couldn’t finish it after being so full, so I left half of it untouched… My apologies.
Thank you for the meal! It was tasty, but I didn’t feel it was significantly different from other Nepali curry places. I actually wish I could have enjoyed my time in a more spacious setting. Since the variety of curries is set from the start, it might be a bit hard to come back for another visit... However, the price was reasonable. All in all, I was glad to have visited a popular spot.
