In Uchino, Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, there is a ramen shop facing the industrial street. There is another famous ramen shop called "Tsumugu" nearby. This shop is famous for its tonkotsu ramen and has even won awards in ramen books. It has been around for about 10 years now. I have visited a few times, but this time was after a long time. The shop has a decent number of seats, but due to COVID-19, they have reduced the counter seats, which has slowed down the turnover a bit. However, the manager and staff provide good customer service. The menu has several options, all based on tonkotsu broth. Among them, the regular ramen is supposed to be just tonkotsu broth. I added seaweed and a soft-boiled egg. It's called tonkotsu ramen, but it's not the Kyushu style, it's more of a thick and rich type. It's more towards the intense side. Although it's mentioned that the training was not at an intense place but at Kubota... It's rich, with the noodles clinging well and delicious. It's been a while, but occasionally eating this kind of rich ramen gives a really satisfying feeling. I couldn't help but order an extra serving of noodles. The extra serving comes with a slightly thick and well-cut slice of chashu. It feels like a good deal. It's a delicious ramen shop with a decent number of customers, even though it doesn't stand out too much. I'm glad I came.

"I visited 'Ramen Domannaka' in Ibaraki City and tried their 'Tonkotsu Ramen with Black Ma-Yu (880 yen)'. The broth is made from pork bones and has a slightly thick soy sauce base with the aroma of black ma-yu spreading throughout. It has a rich and balanced flavor with a mellow mouthfeel from the well-infused pork bone umami. The noodles are straight and thin from 'Menya Teo' with a good firmness and chewiness. The chashu is tender with a delicious flavor. You can also customize the taste with yuzu pepper, self-serve pickled ginger, and pickled vegetables on the table."

【Ramen Shop with Rich Tonkotsu Broth】Sunday 12:40, 3 people waiting outside. 12:47, managed to get a seat inside where there were also people waiting. The menu was easy to see while waiting. Finally got a seat at 13:00. The food was served at 13:15! By the time we left at 13:30, there were about 10 people waiting outside! Just for your reference! This place is known for its super rich tonkotsu broth! It has been about 4 years since my last visit. I didn't have a very good memory of it... haha
- Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen "Maroton" ¥880
- Tonkotsu Ramen with Black Ma-Yu Oil ¥880
- Flame-Grilled Pork Rice ¥400 (Set discount of -¥50)
The interior has a cafe-like vibe with bright wallpaper. There are various Fist of the North Star items all around, and even some menu names are inspired by Fist of the North Star, so it seems like a place where I, who can drink sake with the Hundred Crack Fist of the North Star, would fit right in! The BGM is kind of heavy metal, creating a lively atmosphere. There are GUNS posters on the walls, and the shop owner's hat has METALLICA written on it. haha
First, the "Maroton"! This is a house-inspired tonkotsu broth, suitable even for Kansai people with its moderate saltiness. Just as the name suggests, it's very smooth and delicious! I can feel a hint of sweetness in it... so tasty! The thick noodles are on the shorter side. I assume this is intentional because if they were the same length as other noodles but thick, it would fill up the mouth too much, so they are kept short! They were also deliciously chewy! The one with black ma-yu oil is like Hakata tonkotsu with ma-yu oil! Thin noodles with a punch of authentic tonkotsu broth and ma-yu oil, also very tasty! When I added garlic halfway through, it became even more irresistible! The flame-grilled pork rice felt a bit lacking in creativity as it was just topped with the same chashu as the ramen, with no change in thickness. The rice seemed a bit dry, so when I poured ramen soup over it, it was the right choice! The staff's vocal calls and service were fantastic, and I thought it was a really great restaurant! My previous impression of it has completely changed!

Maroton Soupless Version (Pork Bone + Soy Sauce) - 880 yen ★★★★
The soup is a soy sauce flavored pork bone base. The noodles are thick straight noodles with a wavy texture. The toppings include pork belly chashu, spinach, and seaweed. The original sauce, made with a little pork broth, soy sauce, and flavored oil, is mixed well with the noodles, creating a rich and flavorful taste with a mellow finish. The noodles used are from "Menya Teiitsu," offering a chewy and bouncy texture. The large piece of grilled chashu is tender and well-seasoned, making it very delicious. Adding the separately provided garlic mayonnaise halfway through enhances the flavor with a punch of acidity and garlic. You can also enjoy different flavors by using the pickled vegetables, red pickled ginger, and yuzu pepper provided on the side. (Noodles are recommended)

Dandan Tonkotsu Ramen (Tonkotsu + White Sesame 950 yen) ★★★★
The soup is a white sesame flavored broth based on tonkotsu. The noodles are straight, medium thickness noodles. The toppings include sliced pork chashu, ground meat, green onions, and bean sprouts. The soup is made from tonkotsu broth with a bit of extra chili oil, giving it a spicy kick from the sansho pepper and chili oil, while also having a rich flavor from the creamy sesame and tonkotsu. The noodles are from "Menya Teiaku," with a firm texture that pairs well with the soup. The large piece of seared chashu and generous amount of ground meat are both well-seasoned and delicious. You can also enjoy different flavors by adding pickled mustard greens, red pickled ginger, and yuzu pepper provided on the side. (Highly recommend the soup)

Soy Sauce Tonkotsu Ramen ~Maroton~ (Tonkotsu + Soy Sauce 880 yen) ★★★★
The soup is a soy sauce-flavored broth based on tonkotsu (pork bone). The noodles are thick straight noodles with a wavy texture. The toppings include sliced pork belly chashu, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), and seaweed. The rich soup is made by adding plenty of chicken oil to the tonkotsu broth, giving it a savory and sweet flavor from the soy sauce seasoning. The noodles are from "Menya Teiō" and have a chewy texture with a good firmness. The large piece of seared chashu is tender and well-seasoned, adding a delicious touch to the dish. You can also enjoy different flavors by adding pickled mustard greens, pickled ginger, and yuzu pepper provided on the side. (Highly recommend the soup)

Cost performance: ★★★★★ (Excellent)
Budget: ¥1000
Atmosphere: A nostalgic and classic ramen shop
- Tonkotsu Ramen (¥850): Extremely rich and flavorful. The soup is packed with umami without any pork bone smell. The noodles are very thin and firm. Personally, I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the impactful tonkotsu ramen I had in Hakata.
- Yumso Tensei Rare Chashu Don (¥450): I'm sorry, I don't know what Yumso Tensei is... Regardless, this dish comes with two huge rare chashu slices on top. The chashu is thick and has a satisfying chewy texture. It was incredibly delicious and the taste was different from the seared pork topping.

I usually order the Fish-flavored Tonkotsu Ramen with an extra half portion of noodles (100 yen), but this time I challenged myself with a full extra portion (150 yen). My stomach is so full now. I'm glad I didn't order any rice. The flavor is really good with the fish powder mixed in, giving it a strong seafood taste. However, it couldn't surpass the deliciousness of the Maroton that I tried for the first time. For me, the best way to order here is either Ramen with rice or Ramen with a half portion of noodles. Next time, I'll try the soupless Maroton! I will definitely come back again!

Maroton + Han-tama for 980 yen. Visited at 11:40 am. Was able to enter without waiting. Donburi served at 11:47 am. Ordered the special Oni ton? that they rarely offer, but I personally found the Maroton to be more delicious so I went with that this time. I wanted to order extra rice, but adding a Han-tama would make me too full so I gave up on that. The taste was consistently delicious as always. Thank you.

"I visited 'Ramen Domannaka' in Ibaraki City and tried their 'Curry Tan Tan Tonkotsu Ramen' (2 bowls) for 1000 yen. This summer limited edition ramen has a thick curry soup with tonkotsu broth base, giving it a rich and spicy flavor. The sesame and chili oil add a nice kick to the creamy broth. The noodles are straight and thin, with a good chewy texture. The tender and flavorful chashu complements the broth well. You can also customize the taste with yuzu pepper, pickled ginger, and pickled vegetables on the table."

I slurped the Umenobe High-Concentration Coarse-Filtered Tonkotsu Ramen ~Oni Ton~ for ¥1000. I felt the rough texture while enjoying the mellow pork bone soup. The medium-thick straight noodles had a good chewiness and paired well with the soup, making it easy to finish in no time. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I had plans to play golf with my former classmates, but it was canceled due to rain. What a shame! So instead, I decided to add a ramen shop in Ibaraki City for lunch. It was located near Uchinoe Station, away from Ibaraki Station, and there were no suitable coin parking nearby, only a pre-paid daily parking fee which was a bit expensive. I parked my car and arrived at the shop around 11:30 with an umbrella in the rain. The shop was small with only a few counter seats. There was one customer ahead of me, and a couple was running the shop. I ordered "Tonkotsu Ramen" and "Shredded Shiso Rice," and waited with small dishes of "Pickled Chinese Cabbage" and "Pickled Ginger" on a separate table. The food came out quickly. The thickly grilled chashu looked delicious. First, I tried the soup. It was a slightly thick and rich tonkotsu broth with a hint of soy sauce. It didn't have any unpleasant smell and wasn't too heavy, but it was a bit different from my personal preference. The straight thin noodles were tasty, but I thought even thinner noodles would suit this soup better. The thick grilled chashu had a good balance of fat and was tender and delicious. The seasoned egg had a perfect gooey yolk. The shredded shiso rice was tasty, but I thought getting an extra noodle refill instead of rice would have been better with this soup. I left some soup behind and finished my meal.

This is a tonkotsu ramen restaurant located in Ibaraki Unobe. You can choose from 3 types of noodles: thin, medium-thick, and medium-thick curly. I chose the thin noodles for my tonkotsu ramen because I wanted to have a second helping. I enjoyed the rich Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen with a strong pork bone flavor. Please note that you cannot have a second helping with the medium-thick curly noodles!

Maroton special large serving for ¥1000 (2 servings) with thick noodles was very filling and satisfying. For me, the regular serving for ¥850 or 1.5 servings for ¥950 would be just right. The taste is consistently delicious. If you tell the staff, they can provide grated garlic, which goes really well with the ramen. There is also yuzu pepper on the table, and self-service pickled mustard greens and pickled ginger at the entrance. I didn't order any side dishes or toppings this time, but the menu options were very tempting. I will definitely try some rice dishes next time. (There was a mention of a discount if you order together during lunch time.) There is no dedicated parking lot, so I parked at a nearby parking lot.

Visited at 12 o'clock. There were 2 counter seats and 1 table seat available. Last time I went before noon on a weekday, but there was a long line and it took too long, so I gave up halfway. Finally visited this time. Ordered the soy sauce pork bone ramen "Maroton" for 850 yen, with an extra large portion for 100 yen. The ramen was served at 12:10. First, I took a sip of the soup. I didn't have any prior knowledge, but it looked like a house-style ramen, yet the taste was a mellow pork bone soup. It was truly delicious. The noodles were thick and had a good texture. It was a new flavor for me and I was impressed. Most of the other customers ordered rice dishes. The owner's customer service was good, although there were some things I couldn't quite catch, I had a good impression. I later realized that you could get a half portion for 100 yen, a 1.5 portion for 150 yen, and a double portion (mega portion?) for 200 yen.

"Soy sauce pork bone ramen ~Maroton~" 850 yen "Extra noodles + half portion" +100 yen [Soup] The soup is creamy and rich, with a strong pork bone flavor but not too heavy. It lacks a strong soy sauce taste, but is delicious without being overwhelming. [Noodles] The straight, thick noodles have a good chewy texture and are very tasty. [Toppings] Charred pork belly, seaweed, spinach *I added garlic. I had this ramen before going to Nagoya two and a half years ago when it was only available on certain days of the week. Now it's a regular menu item! The creamy soup is delicious and the 1.5 servings of noodles provide a satisfyingly large portion. Adding garlic enhances the flavor even more. I finished every last drop of the soup. Thank you for the meal."

On Saturday, I walked from my workplace to Kura Sushi for lunch exploration. Next to it was a Chinese restaurant that seemed quite famous according to the reviews on Tabelog. I found a seat at the counter without having to wait. The water seemed to be self-service, but there was a simple water server at the back. The service was a bit slow, taking about 15 minutes to get my order. It was my first time there, so I was unsure whether to go for the teppan menu, but I decided on the "Fish-flavored Tonkotsu Ramen" for 850 yen. The description mentioned a strong aroma of fish, which caught my attention. The soup was incredibly delicious, rich yet light enough to enjoy. It might be the best fish-based ramen I've had. I also ordered the "Wind-blown Soft-boiled Egg and Minced Meat Rice" (small) for 300 yen to go with my ramen. Mixing it well before eating is recommended. Personally, I think the bean sprouts may not be necessary.

Today is Friday, so I had the limited-time Tan Tan Tonkotsu Ramen with white rice. I topped it with 2 slices of seared chashu, half a boiled egg, and 3 sheets of seaweed. The Tan Tan soup with sesame paste was very rich and flavorful. The noodles had a good texture. It was so delicious that I ordered an extra serving of noodles. It's nice that the extra noodles come with an extra chashu as a bonus. They also offer grated garlic, but I'll pass on it since I have work in the afternoon. It's great that you can add as much pickled mustard greens and red pickled ginger as you like. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I went to "Ramen Domannaka," located about an 11-minute walk from Osaka Monorail Unobe Station. I ordered the "Tonkotsu Ramen for 800 yen." The noodles were thin straight noodles with a nice firmness and were delicious. The chashu was a large piece that had been seared, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a delicious meaty flavor. The soup was very rich, allowing you to fully savor the flavor of the tonkotsu.
