Stayed at OMO5 South Building, which was renovated from the old Otaru Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of the 3-story building, and it has a nice retro atmosphere that matches well with the Spanish cuisine. They offer all-you-can-eat and drink options for pinchos, desserts, and wine, with pork and paella as the main dishes. The quality is decent overall.

It was a room-only stay, but the top floor turns into a bar at night. It's a casual dining bar where you can bring your own drinks and enjoy without feeling pressured. We only brought Blueberry with us, and even after ordering a lot at the bar, I don't think we spent more than 6000 yen! Thank you for the meal!

Beautiful hotel. Cute, small entrance. Inside a historic building, there are lovely restaurants and rooms. Dinner was Spanish cuisine. The service was excellent, enjoyable, and the food was delicious. Otaru Canal is also nearby, making it convenient to visit at night.

The hotel bar is only accessible to guests, which means it's spacious and relaxing. The interior has a Western-style charm typical of Otaru. The menu during bar hours is a bit limited, both for food and drinks. However, if it's limited to hotel guests only, it's understandable. I recommend trying the glamorous gin and tonic.

I saw on a TV show in November about "Kotatsu Cruising" where you can enjoy a 40-minute cruise on a small houseboat with a kotatsu set up, while enjoying herring bouillabaisse and wine on the Otaru Canal. This activity is limited to hotel guests, so first make a hotel reservation. However, due to a change in schedule, I had to cancel it 21 days in advance, which incurred a 10% cancellation fee. But I was really interested, so I made a new reservation. On the day of check-in, when I inquired about the cruise at the front desk, they seemed unaware of my reservation, even though it was a hotel guest exclusive activity. Eventually, I found out that the cruise for that day was canceled due to high tide. The hotel room did not have slippers, and I had to pay extra for room wear. The bathtub was missing, and only a shower booth was available. The public bath was also not usable in December, which was not informed on the website or verbally. I ended up going out for a drink in the city in the evening. The next morning, breakfast was served in a separate building, with Spanish cuisine being the main option. The taste was lacking, and the salmon on the parfait was very fishy. The baguette on the ham sandwich was hard to cut, and the food selection seemed to be missing something. The only thing that tasted good was the flavored water with pear and jasmine. I took a paper cup of coffee back to the room. The buffet was until 9:30, but the drink and baked goods corner was available until 10:00.

Every year, we go skiing in Kiroro, Hokkaido. Last season, the Sheraton in Kiroro, which we frequented heavily, closed down. It has been rebranded as Club Med. Club Med Kiroro Peak is expensive, and children under 12 are not allowed to stay. Oh no, my youngest child is only 8 years old. We are now hotel refugees. So, we decided to try staying at various places. We visited OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts. It's brand new and very beautiful. They even have a waxing station, which is great. The only downside is that there is no bathtub in the bathroom. The breakfast was delicious and fantastic. The restaurant is lovely. The breakfast menu has a Spanish touch. There is sushi, which is very cute. The Spanish omelet and ham & bread were amazing. The salad was also cute, especially the radish salad that looked like a flower. The dressing was delicious too. The bread selection was great, with lots of cute small bread rolls. My daughter ate a lot of them. The cheese, nuts, and carrots were delicious too. The fried squid from Otaru market is a must-try. The simmered mackerel and bamboo shoots were also delicious. The deep-fried tofu was tasty too. The sausage with egg and apple with banana were in two colors and very good. And the highly praised churros with freshly fried and served with chocolate sauce were delicious. My husband liked them so much that he ate about 4 of them. There was also miso soup and corn potage. Even just the water was presented beautifully. The fresh juices like apple and orange were not available, but the drinks were tastier than juice. We ate a lot and were very satisfied. I was happy to see so many sweet bread rolls. There was plenty of salmon roe on the sushi, which was delicious. Dip the churros in lots of chocolate. A truly wonderful breakfast. This hotel has great value for money and amazing breakfast. Highly recommended.

Hoshino Resorts OMO5 Otaru is a small hotel with the only restaurant on site. They serve a Spanish-style breakfast which includes a Spanish omelette, churros, and a glass of Hokkaido-style chirashi sushi. The omelette has chunks of potatoes and the churros are served with a bitter chocolate syrup which complements them well. The bread section is lively, with freshly baked slices of bread topped with rubbed tomatoes and prosciutto. The cheese selection is also delightful. The fruit is mainly canned, but when paired with yogurt, it makes for a good probiotic breakfast. The mint orange water was not the best, but the milk was top-notch, as expected from Hokkaido's dairy products. The service is elegant, even with the minimal staff present. The buffet style allows for easy access to the food despite the limited number of guests.

When it comes to dining in Otaru, is it sushi? Seafood bowl? The dinner at Hoshino Resort OMO5 Otaru, which opened in 2022, is Spanish! How interesting! It is a half-buffet style, meaning that the main dishes are fixed, while tapas and desserts are buffet-style. Moreover, wine and soft drinks are free-flowing, making it a paradise for drinkers. The wine includes Txakoli, white, and red varieties. While they are not particularly high-end, they are still decent choices. Txakoli is poured into the glass from a height to aerate it. The croquette appetizer is delicious, made with potatoes mixed with white sauce. I also love the sautéed spinach and pine nuts! While going for a refill of white wine, the pork dish arrived. It was crispy, juicy, and flavorful pork. The grilled vegetables served alongside were sweet. The other main dish, the paella, was absolutely delicious. It was rich in flavor. It is said to use herring, reflecting Otaru's history of herring fishing. The crispy rice at the bottom was also delicious, making it a challenge to scrape it all up. I went all out at the dessert corner (I have a separate stomach!). The chocolate mousse was the best, smooth and rich. Self-service is available for post-meal drinks. The only downside was the lack of options for caffeine-free beverages.

This hotel restaurant, which opened in January this year, offers cafe time and bar time for both guests and day visitors. The cafe serves only sweets and drinks, with options like parfaits, cheesecake, ice cream, and gateau chocolat. The reviewer ordered the omo parfait, which was beautifully presented with plenty of melon and white chocolate. Although the cafe was empty during the visit, the reviewer felt that more customers could be attracted with some signage outside. The payment can be made in cash or credit card at the front desk. Overall, the reviewer was satisfied with the experience.

Hoshino Resort's OMO5 Otaru restaurant, which opened in early 2022, offers Spanish cuisine for dinner exclusively to guests. They offer a half-buffet style with free-flowing drinks. The Spanish wine, Chacoli, was not as impressive compared to what you might have in Spain, London, or Tokyo. It would be nice to have a higher quality wine available. The red wine served that day was from Hokkaido, not Spain, but if they don't have a better Japanese wine, a good and affordable red wine from the Garcia region would be appreciated. The 6 appetizers were not outstanding, so the overall evaluation is pending. The paella was decent, the pork main dish was passable, and the dessert was okay. Looking forward to improvements that are unique to Hoshino Resort in the future.

I visited Otaru City on a weekend in May. I stayed at "OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts," a city hotel that opened on January 7, 2022. This hotel is located along "Isshin-dori" and consists of a renovated former Chamber of Commerce building (South Building) and a newly built North Building. The guest rooms in the North Building have a stylish interior and are spacious and comfortable. While not large, the first floor also has a communal bath with a sauna. Breakfast is served on the 3rd floor of the South Building in a buffet style. The floor exudes a retro atmosphere with glass chandeliers. The dishes, inspired by Spanish travel culture, are all colorful. The Spanish omelette "Tortilla" with plenty of ingredients and the "Pan con Tomate" topped with freshly sliced ham from the log are both delicious, reminiscent of authentic flavors. The beautiful "Parfait Chirashi" in a glass is overflowing with ikura and salmon. The desserts and bread are also plentiful, and the "Churros" served with hot chocolate have an authentic taste. I also enjoyed one-bite-sized "An Butter Bread" and "Curry Bread," as well as "Chocolate Croissant" and "Strawberry Danish." The "Otaru Canal," as well as the "Morning Market" and "Sakaimachi Street," are within walking distance, making this urban sightseeing hotel a recommended place to stay in the area.

For dinner, we had Spanish cuisine at the hotel restaurant. The main specialty was a mixed paella with herring, a symbol of Otaru, and grilled pork. It was a course dinner with a buffet style. The dinner included free-flowing red and white wine, non-alcoholic cocktails, and soft drinks.
~Dinner Menu~
- Tapas Bar (Buffet Style)
- Double Main: Grilled Pork & Mixed Herring Paella
- Dessert Buffet
- Free Drink Bar (Red and White Wine, Chacoli, Soft Drink Cocktails)
For breakfast, there was a Spanish breakfast buffet. The recommended dishes were the Spanish omelette with plenty of ingredients, Spanish cured ham, and the classic Spanish dessert, churros. However, the menu was the same as last time and lacked freshness. Also, the bread for sweets was not replenished as it was close to closing time, possibly to avoid food waste.

Honestly, I was disappointed with this hotel. It may look new and trendy, but the rooms are not very comfortable. There is a kettle, but no drinks provided. No water in the public bath or in the room. No chair at the sink. The bed is not very spacious. You have to rent roomwear for 200 yen. The drawers are empty, no laundry bag provided. However, the breakfast was amazing! Everything looked delicious and tasted great. The miso soup, simmered mackerel, simmered vegetables, and salted fish were all fantastic. The bread and cake were also delicious. The churros were a surprising treat. The hot chocolate was not cheap-tasting. Everything was perfect. The food is top-notch, and it made me feel happy. I would consider staying at this OMO hotel in Shin-Imamiya, as the food was so delicious that it rivaled my number one breakfast spot at the Ritz-Carlton.

I stayed at Hoshino Resorts OMO5 Otaru. It is a hotel renovated from the Otaru Chamber of Commerce. The breakfast venue is elegant with stylish glass chandeliers. The breakfast buffet included unique dishes such as churros, Spanish omelette, tortilla, parfait, and chirashi sushi, all of which were delicious. Each dish was carefully prepared and tasty. The desserts were also excellent. The staff were very friendly and provided attentive service, making the experience pleasant.
