Today, the ramen shop I planned to visit first was supposed to open at 11:00, but it got delayed to 11:30. Since the shop doesn't have a website, the only way to confirm is by phone, and I relied solely on information from a certain map app, which was my bad! I'm not in the mood for another ramen shop, so I'll kill time at "Hien" before heading to the original one I intended to visit! The set meals have a lot of dishes, but ramen is served in one bowl, which feels easier to handle... but let's be real, having two meals in a row is not really easy, what am I even saying! The parking lot seems a bit tricky, with narrow spaces marked with diagonal lines, especially scary when leaving! The set meal I ordered was "Osen Chicken Pieces [Spicy Stir-Fried Chicken Karaage]" (¥950). I was planning to order the Chinese Shrimp Chili Omelette, but my mood changed. The local pronunciation is "Tāchénchīkai," but it's a bit complicated, so let's remember the Japanese translation, haha. The plate arrived in about 10 minutes, with rice, the main chicken karaage, salad, and soup. The karaage was in easy-to-eat sizes, juicy and tender! It's surprisingly mild in spiciness, but the soy sauce flavor is well infused, which is also delicious. The thin batter is nice, but the crispy texture is a bit lacking due to the generous sauce. Preferences vary, and the tenderness of the karaage is also a good thing. It's rich in flavor, perfect for pairing with alcohol, I'd want a drink if I wasn't driving! The sautéed bell peppers, caramelized onions, and crunchy wood ear mushrooms are also great, love that chewy texture! There's a lot of rice though, the main dish has a strong flavor, so it helps to balance it out, but it's hard to decide on the eating ratio, haha. I could use a bit more salad, the addition is appreciated, but a little more would be nice! Finished with a hot coffee after the meal. With coffee included at this price, the cost-performance ratio is good. Next time, I'll go for noodles, and I'm curious about the Katsu Curry Ramen, haha. Thank you for the meal.
