At the northern end of Yotsubashi Line Yotsubashi Station, exit the 1A ticket gate and walk north on Yotsubashi-suji for about three minutes. Turn right at the intersection of Shinmachi 1 Minami, then turn left at the first intersection (facing the Hanshin Expressway) and walk a few houses down. It will be on your left hand side, with a solid brown wooden door and a semi-circular window as a landmark. Upon entering the restaurant, you will find six waiting seats at the entrance. Beyond that, there are seating areas on the right side of the aisle and the kitchen on the left side. I arrived right at the opening time, but the place was already full. There was only one person waiting ahead of me. Since it was right after opening, I had to wait for about 40 minutes until the person ahead of me finished their meal. The regular customers seemed to know the drill, as they saw people waiting and decided to leave immediately. Finally, I was seated, following COVID-19 guidelines with one table per group. As I was dining alone, I got to use a four-person table by myself. The menu featured various types of soba noodles such as Juwari soba, Nihachi soba, Walnut dipping sauce, Bokkake, Karashi daikon, Duck soup, Gobo tempura, Kake, Kamaage, and Duck Nanban, among others. During lunchtime, you can choose one small dish from three options including Nozawana sushi. Since the restaurant is known for its Shinshu soba, I ordered the Juwari soba and Nozawana sushi set. The menu included detailed instructions on how to eat the soba, so I followed the steps of eating the soba straight first, then with salt, and finally with the broth. The finely sliced soba had a rich flavor, a good texture, and was enjoyable to eat with different seasonings. The delicious broth made both the soba and the thick dipping sauce taste even better. The menu also included items for dinner, so I asked the staff if I could order from the dinner menu during lunchtime. They confirmed that it was possible, although it might take longer. As the restaurant quickly fills up in the evening as well, I revisited the following week for lunch, where I indulged in dishes such as grilled iwana fish with salt, soba sashimi, and grilled miso. I edited a video of the dishes I had, which cost about the same as five lunch sets. If you're interested, please check it out here: https://youtu.be/eveNs0IGFqU
