I wanted to eat fresh shrimp, so I decided to come here without hesitation. It was relatively empty as it was early Saturday morning. I chose the regular size bowl with shrimp, sea urchin, and scallops. The shrimp was incredibly large and full of flavor! The sea urchin and scallops were also delicious when eaten raw. I also ordered grilled oysters as an extra, and they were perfectly cooked and juicy! It was the best spring oysters. The rice was also delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Choose your own toppings seafood bowl! This is a seafood bowl restaurant located in the Sankaku Market in Otaru. Here, you can choose the toppings to put on your bowl by yourself. The octopus, shako-gai, and other options are tempting. However, you can't miss the ikura (salmon roe) and uni (sea urchin). The popping texture of each ikura and the richness of uni are irresistible. It's also nice to combine them with salmon to make a parent and child bowl. The staff will tell you about the recommended toppings and freshness of the day, so it's a good idea to ask.

The donburi was smaller than I imagined, but I still felt satisfied. The ikura didn't have as much of a popping sensation as I expected, but the soy sauce flavor was strong. The uni didn't have any fishy smell and tasted excellent. It paired perfectly with Sapporo Classic beer!

I wanted to eat seafood bowl in Otaru, so I visited the seafood bowl shop at Sankaku Market once again. This time, I visited Mr. Takeda's shop. I have been to Otaru many times, but it was the first time I saw it so crowded! They were even handing out numbered tickets, and it seemed very busy. It was nice to see the lively atmosphere coming back. I ordered the three-color bowl with shrimp, scallops, and crab, and it was as luxurious as it looked, fresh and chewy. I had the most delicious meal from the morning. The scallop chowder with scallops is also really delicious when eaten with rice...!! Being able to eat such luxurious food makes Hokkaido the best.

I stopped by Otaru on my way back from a late-night drive and had a seafood bowl at the Sankaku Market for breakfast! It was a seafood bowl with scallops and crab. The scallops were plump and the crab was flavorful, it was delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice and welcoming, making for a great morning ^^

I went to the famous Sanjogai Market as a tourist. Still feeling the effects of last night's drinks, I decided to order a small bowl of miso soup. The seafood bowl, which needed no explanation, came out quickly, but my companion's grilled hokke took a bit longer. Despite the wait, it was worth it as the fish was cooked perfectly with a rich flavor. The market didn't seem particularly cheap, but it was a fun place to visit while sightseeing.

When I arrived at Otaru Port in Hokkaido by ferry for work, I finally had the chance to visit the Sankaku Market that I had always wanted to go to. There were a huge variety of fresh fish lined up, with market-like shops in the back. It was a tourist-friendly setup, different from Tsukiji Market. After a long journey, I was exhausted and starving, so I entered a shop and ordered a luxurious platter of salmon, turban shell, crab, and sea urchin. It was a dream come true, with miso soup and rice included. I wished I could have this kind of breakfast every day. The salmon had a strong flavor, almost like it was shouting "SALMON!!" with a dense texture rather than being fatty. The turban shell, one of my favorites, had a crunchy texture without any seaweed smell, and was incredibly delicious. The crab, although usually a one-bite dish, I savored it carefully. It was rich in flavor and very satisfying, but I couldn't help but think I wanted to eat it in a more extravagant, whole way rather than already prepared. Once again, I must emphasize that it was delicious. Lastly, the sea urchin. It was amazing!!! That's all I can say. It paired perfectly with rice ❤️ By the way, I also ordered scallops and hexagon. I used to not like scallops, but when I tried the fresh part that needs to be fresh to be eaten, I was surprised by how delicious it was. I have learned a new taste of luxury. As for the hexagon, I couldn't finish it because its eyes were staring at me too much. Maybe it was still a bit too much of an adult ingredient for me. The person I was with finished it easily. I would love to visit again when I go back to Otaru. Thank you for the meal!!!

Near Otaru Station is the Sankaku Market. A small market with narrow aisles lined with tiny shops. You can eat grilled king crab and grilled oysters at the back of the fishmonger's shop. The king crab had little meat, so they gave me some extra. It was a bit lukewarm as they grilled it right after taking it out of the water, but it was delicious.

This is the Triangle Market located just to the left as you exit Otaru Station. It is a small market with many shops lined up. The seafood donburi is popular, with many famous shops to choose from. I tried the sea urchin donburi at Nishikiya Saito, where you can choose from three sizes - large, medium, or small. I chose the small size for 1500 yen, along with a seafood soup for 300 yen, and a homemade pudding. The sea urchin was rich and delicious. The seafood soup had chunks of salmon with fatty parts. They even gave me ikura (salmon roe) as a free sample. The pudding was also rich and highly recommended. The middle-aged female staff member was very friendly and welcoming.

I ordered a parent and child bowl with fresh sea urchin at a store with many photos of celebrities inside. I was not very hungry as I had been enjoying Hokkaido gourmet food, so I requested no miso soup and less rice. However, the owner insisted that the miso soup with scallops had a nice flavor and it was okay to leave some. We were served simmered fish (I forgot what kind) as an appetizer, which had a gentle and delicious taste. The miso soup also had a gentle flavor and was comforting. The seafood bowl had salmon that was not very oily, which may be preferred by some. The ikura (salmon roe) was not too salty or fishy, and the sea urchin was very sweet and to my liking. There was no strong seaweed smell. The only downside was that the seafood was piled on top of steaming hot rice, which I personally didn't like. The restaurant had friendly and lively staff, making it a recommended spot for enjoying gourmet food while sightseeing.

During my stay in Otaru, the hotel did not include breakfast so I came here to try the famous seafood bowl. However, I ended up having the grilled fish set meal instead (it was so cold!). It was delicious as expected! I wish Hokkaido was more affordable though. If the prices were a bit lower, I would have tried the seafood bowl. But it's a tourist spot, so it's understandable. My first time in Hokkaido was enjoyable, despite the cold weather!

During the pandemic, it was empty so I was careless. I recommend making a reservation when you have a specific restaurant in mind.
