Started with a "Welcome Sparkling Wine," the experience at Houshuutei was a bit disappointing as the reservation for the kaiseki plan was unavailable. Instead, we had a seasonal main dish with a buffet-style plan for our stay.
For dinner, we had dishes like shrimp and sea bream with Américaine sauce, sea urchin pasta, and items from the buffet such as salmon, prosciutto, tempura, and eel. Unfortunately, the shrimp was overcooked and the sea urchin had a slightly fishy taste.
For breakfast, we enjoyed a traditional Japanese meal with dishes like okra sesame salad, salted cod roe, rolled omelet, pickled squid, and various other side dishes. The meal also included grilled fish, egg dishes, simmered vegetables, and a salad with seasonal vegetables and olive oil dressing. We also had rice, miso soup, and fruits for dessert. The breakfast was delicious, and I ended up having two servings of rice.

I had a wonderful dinner the night before, and the breakfast was also luxurious. I stayed for two nights, so the previous day's breakfast was a buffet, but since I love buffets, I didn't mind having it two days in a row. However, I decided to go for something a little more extravagant this time. I had a seafood bowl for breakfast. Honestly, the contents were probably worth at least 3000 yen if I had it at a seafood restaurant in a port town. My wife doesn't like salmon sashimi, so she opted for a set meal, which came with so many side dishes that she struggled to finish them all. It was a luxurious time spent struggling to eat everything. It made me think that I need to work hard at my job so I can come back here for breakfast again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

My wife and I love Tokachi River Onsen the most in Hokkaido, and among them, we especially love the Daiichi Hotel Toyosutei. On this day, we had a Japanese kaiseki dinner at the "Kurabu Dining Tokachi" in the hotel. We received a surprise dish for my wife's birthday, and the food at this thoughtful and caring inn was wonderful. I'm already thinking about staying here again next year. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I love hot springs. A trip without a hot spring is not complete for me. I have visited hot springs all over the country, but I think Tokachigawa Moor Hot Spring has the best water in Japan. The slimy hot spring, almost like a dashi broth made from kelp, is a unique feature that cannot be found elsewhere. I remember reading somewhere that Moor Hot Spring is only found in Tokachi and Germany. As soon as I arrived, I went to the outdoor bath on the balcony. Soaking in the slimy hot spring while overlooking the Tokachigawa Central Bridge is the best. I feel like I might turn into a catfish at this rate. I have visited Tokachigawa Hot Spring many times, but the view from hotels like Kanzuki-an, overlooking the Tokachigawa Central Bridge, is refreshing. Other hotels are also good, but this view is a must-see. The large communal bath at Tokachigawa Hot Spring Hotel is unofficially called "Thermae of Heaven." The moment you enter, it feels like heaven, and you might be sucked into somewhere like Abe Hiroshi if you dive in. The dinner at night was also excellent. The grilled uni sushi was delicious. The meat was also 100 times more delicious than what I had at a famous restaurant in Biei.

I love Toyosutei. I realized I hadn't posted about it yet. It's time to look back and organize my albums regularly. I had a relaxing dinner in a private room. The portion is smaller compared to Sanoyan, but just right to enjoy until the end.

I stayed at the large ryokan "Daiichi Hotel" in Tokachigawa Onsen, Hokkaido for 2 nights. This review is for the dinner on the second day. Dinner was a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal served in a private room at the Toyoshutei on the first floor. There was also an option for teppanyaki, but I chose the kaiseki as I wanted to avoid crowded spaces and thought it would be more enjoyable. The quality of the dinner on the second day was higher than the first day. The second day's menu featured more seafood dishes with expensive ingredients like abalone. The appetizers for the second night included dishes like yuzu tofu, crab with daikon, sashimi of shrimp and mackerel, and more. The sashimi was particularly outstanding. The main courses included a seafood hot pot, steamed crab and camembert cheese, and a crab and camembert chawanmushi. The meal ended with a dessert of small custard pudding and matcha ice cream. The Daiichi Hotel in Tokachigawa Onsen is a standalone establishment, separate from the Daiichi Hinteiru in Jozankei and Lake Shikotsu. The hotel has two sections, Toyoshutei and Tōyōtei, each catering to different price ranges and clientele. Toyoshutei guests have access to a private lounge on the third floor, as well as a moor hot spring outdoor bath exclusive to the section. The rooms are clean but on the smaller side, with limited outlets and no bedside sockets. Complimentary drinks like sparkling wine and beer are provided in the room fridge. However, there is no alcohol for sanitization in the rooms.

This is a large ryokan located in Tokachi River Onsen. Although it is called "Daiichi Hotel," it is an independent ryokan and not affiliated with "Daiichi Hinteiryu" in Jozankei or Lake Shikotsu. The ryokan is divided into two sections: Hoshutei and Toyotei, each catering to different price ranges and clientele. Hoshutei requires a special card for access and offers a lounge on the third floor with complimentary drinks and snacks. The rooms at Hoshutei feature a private outdoor hot spring bath, while the rooms are clean but somewhat small. Dinner is served in private rooms, which is great for COVID-19 prevention measures. The menu includes various dishes like appetizers, sashimi, hot pot, grilled meat, sushi, and dessert. Overall, the meal was decent but felt a bit outdated in terms of presentation and variety. More local Hokkaido sake options would have been appreciated.

This is a review of the breakfast at "Daiichi Hotel Hokuryutei" in Tokachi River Onsen. The hotel has two sections, Hokuryutei and Tofuya, with different prices and clientele. If you stay at Tofuya, you will have a private dining experience for breakfast. You can choose from three options: Japanese set meal, seafood bowl breakfast, or pork bowl breakfast. The seafood bowl breakfast includes salmon roe, sea urchin, scallops, and button shrimp, all fresh and delicious. It is a breakfast worth trying, especially for visitors from outside Hokkaido. The meal also comes with vegetable juice, salad, miso soup, seasonal fruits, and coffee. The private dining experience is great for COVID-19 prevention measures, providing a safe and enjoyable dining experience. If you stay at Hokuryutei, you can also choose the breakfast buffet option, but it is recommended to choose the private dining for a better experience.
