Located in a building in the middle of Kitashinchi, on Funamachi Street, this hidden gem of a restaurant has a rating of 3.61 on Tabelog. We chose this place for a business dinner with customers from Nagoya, wanting to try something Osaka-style. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior has a bright and sushi restaurant-like Japanese atmosphere. With only around 10 seats at the counter, the master chef shared that he has the most experience in French cuisine, followed by Japanese cuisine, with no experience in tempura. This might explain the lack of preconceived notions in their dishes. We started with a smooth beer served in delicate Arita porcelain glasses, which was surprisingly delicious. The first course was a carrot mousse with consommé jelly and sea urchin, an unexpected French-style amuse-bouche. This was followed by a matsutake mushroom and conger eel soup, and a vegetable bagna cauda sauce. The highlight was the 9 kinds of tempura, with a fine, crispy breadcrumb coating and each ingredient perfectly cooked. The shrimp and abalone were tender and flavorful, the red snapper was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, and the asparagus had a delicious marinade. The meal ended with freshly cooked rice served in a clay pot, accompanied by dried fish, pickled plum, and spicy cod roe. Everything was delicious, and considering the price, we left fully satisfied. This restaurant offers a unique blend of Japanese and Western cuisine in a cozy, hidden setting, perfect for business dinners or dates. We would definitely love to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

On this day, a friend who said they would give me a souvenir from France and I wanted to have a decent meal in Kitashinchi, so we decided on lunch at "Kushiage TAKENAKA" for delicious kushiage! We didn't have a reservation, and I was a bit late for our meeting time, so I was worried about the wait time, but luckily we were able to get in just in time. The menu consisted of only one option, the kushiage lunch set for 1200 yen. It came with rice topped with side dishes and chirimenjako, salad, and akadashi soup. The side dishes included zucchini, fried tofu, tamagoyaki, simmered vegetables, and pumpkin salad. They were all cold dishes, but they were all quite luxurious! The pumpkin salad was especially delicious. The salad was daikon salad with a Japanese-style dressing, which was refreshing! There were 5 types of kushiage: shrimp, shiitake mushroom, chicken breast, sea bream, and pork kimchi. The shrimp was firm and had a nice bounce to it. The sweetness of the shiitake mushroom paired with the Worcestershire sauce seasoning was amazing. The chicken breast was tender and the homemade tartar sauce was delicious. The sea bream was thick and satisfying. It was interesting to have a pork kimchi kushiage, but it was tasty. We ended the meal with an ice chai, which was a perfect way to relax and end the meal. Overall, it was a very satisfying lunch.

This time, I had dinner with people from a company that came from Hong Kong. We decided to try this restaurant, which specializes in skewers. The meal started with an amuse-bouche and ended with dessert and coffee in a full-course style. The restaurant had 10 tables, served wine, and was quite high-end.

I always rely on this place. The appetizers and salads for day trips are the best. The flavors are consistent and always fresh. Also, the types of skewers change with the seasons, so even though it's the same restaurant, the taste is not the same every time, which is a benefit. The chef is also kind and always takes good care of us. I look forward to continuing to enjoy your food.

I visited for sightseeing from Tokyo. The amount and pace of the course were just right, and I had a very enjoyable time. I would like to try a different course next time. Thank you for accommodating my allergies♪ When I visit Kita-Shinchi again, I will definitely use your service.

Last time I visited around noon, but there was a wait so I gave up. I tried again with an early opening attack. The appetizers included cold oden skewers, grilled wheat gluten, mozuku seaweed, and 5 other dishes, all of which were delicious. The salad, miso soup, and rice topped with shredded dried fish and sansho pepper were also tasty. Each skewer was fried individually and served fresh. I thought I might not be satisfied, but surprisingly my stomach was full. The elegant skewers were served without sauce, and I thought I could use them to entertain my family next time. Lastly, I was surprised that chai tea worked well because the cinnamon aroma helped cleanse the palate after the skewers. I think I will visit this restaurant for lunch and dinner in Kita-Shinchi, as it is reasonably priced. I am satisfied and will come back for dinner.

I arrived a little past 11:30 am. There were already 5 customers, and by 11:37 am, all 10 seats were filled. The skewers come out in order, but for these 10 seats, they come out almost simultaneously. The meal ends in about 45 minutes, so seats are likely to open up around 12:15 pm. There is only one menu item, so just order a draft beer for 780 yen. First, appetizers like rolled omelet are served, which are well seasoned. Next, a salad and skewers of shrimp, mushrooms, chicken breast, young ayu fish, and pork kimchi are served in that order. Everything is already seasoned, so there is no need for sauce. The flavors are intricate and delicious. This kind of content at this price is fantastic.

I visited the restaurant for lunch without a reservation and was able to be seated right away. I ordered a set of 5 skewers which included shrimp, lotus root, chicken tenderloin, eel, and pork kimchi. Each skewer was delicious and had a unique flavor. Although the portion size seemed a bit small for men, I was satisfied with the addition of side dishes, salad, soup, and rice. The set also came with chai tea, which I thought was a great deal for 1200 yen.

I visited the restaurant at 11:25 on a weekday and there were 6 people waiting in 3 groups. The restaurant opened on time and there were only 10 seats at the counter, so we were seated from the back. It quickly became full, and those who arrived around 11:40 were told they would be seated around 12:10. The menu consisted of a set lunch for 1,200 yen, which included a green salad, assorted appetizers, 5 pieces of tempura skewers (shrimp, eggplant, chicken tenderloin, Hokkaido wild cherry salmon, pork kimchi), rice and miso soup, and chai tea (hot/iced). Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the pork kimchi. Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation for the full course meal of both Japanese and Western dishes with deep-fried skewers at a restaurant located in a building on Senba-dai Kogido Street in Kitashinchi. The taste, portion size, and service were all excellent! The price was quite reasonable for a place in Kitashinchi, and the restaurant definitely lived up to its 3.60 rating on Tabelog. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I used this restaurant for dinner with friends during an overnight trip to Osaka. We made a reservation because the kushikatsu had high ratings. The restaurant was tucked away quietly. Each dish, including the kushikatsu and other dishes, was delicious. The manager was very friendly and talked to us. I will definitely stop by again when I have the chance to visit Osaka!

This time, I finally made a long-awaited visit to a place where you can enjoy a unique combination of Japanese and Western-style deep-fried skewers with a special seasoning that includes the sauce. Even though it was already past 12:30, the place was packed, showing its popularity! There was only one option on the menu, the "Deep-fried Skewer Set," which I ordered. First, a refreshing daikon green salad was served, with crisp vegetables and a spicy dressing that was delicious. Next, the assorted appetizers were meticulously prepared and each one was tasty! The sweet dashimaki tamago, the perfectly tangy chicken nanban, and the crispy outside, chewy inside Italian-style fried bread on the left side were surprising. The zepolli was amazing! The deep-fried skewers were served one by one, each freshly fried. The shrimp had a fluffy coating, the chicken was incredibly tender with irresistible tartar sauce, the lotus root had a delightful texture, the Hokkaido smelt was juicy and delicious down to the bones, and the pork loin with the amazing sauce was incredibly tasty. The slightly soft, glossy rice in a clay pot topped with shredded sansho pepper was delicious on its own. The miso soup had a gentle flavor that was soothing. I chose the cold chai for dessert, and it was perfect. This place is a definite "Bravo!" and a must-visit again. I was a bit worried if the main dish of 5 skewers would be enough, but with the other items included, I left feeling completely satisfied and happy.

It was my friend's birthday, so I looked on Tabelog for a highly rated restaurant with a good atmosphere to celebrate. Initially, I had made a reservation for the 7,980 yen course, but I felt it might be too much food so I changed it to the 4,950 yen course. I couldn't change the course online, so I called and the staff were very kind and accommodating. I can't eat cucumbers and carrots, so they removed those from the Bagna Cauda dish and replaced the cucumber in the last dish with daikon radish, which I really appreciated. The restaurant had a small counter seating area and was fully booked. The dishes were served quickly to all customers. We didn't have to wait even though it was full. The tempura had a crispy batter that wasn't greasy and was delicious. My favorite was the shirako (milt) skewer, with the creamy shirako being incredibly tasty. We each had a drink and shared a bottle of wine (5,800 yen), so the total bill came to around 18,000 yen for both of us. It was just the right amount of food and drink, including dessert. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I wrote it myself and it doesn't feel very trendy, but it's like a hidden gem of a deep-fried skewer restaurant located in a basement of a building. The food is stylish, but the interior of the restaurant is not overly fancy. It's still suitable for a date though. The tables are quite close to each other, so if you're concerned about COVID, you might want to avoid it. The skewers are all delicious and already seasoned, so you don't need to dip them in anything. They also serve creative dishes like a unique version of nikujaga (meat and potato stew), which is enjoyable to watch and eat. The only downside was that the dessert's sponge was a bit dry, but overall, I would give this restaurant a 4-star rating.

It was delicious! I was invited to celebrate something and came without any prior information, so I was surprised! I thought it was just a regular deep-fried skewer restaurant, but it turned out to be a course meal and every dish was delicious. The skewers were also carefully made. I really recommend this place.

☆彡Unlike kushikatsu that is eaten with sauce, this creative kushiage offers a variety of unique fried skewers. Located in the basement of a building on Funamonocho Street in Kitashinchi, here you can enjoy delicious kushiage even at a reasonable price for lunch. The lunch menu consists of only one option, starting with a salad, followed by an appetizer and then the skewers. You may think, "Kushiage for lunch with white rice?" but the yuzu and dried fish rice is so tasty that everyone will be satisfied with this lunch set. ○Kushiage Lunch (1,100 yen) - Assorted appetizers - Green salad - 5 skewers - White rice and miso soup - After-meal chai Despite being called creative kushiage, the set of 5 skewers includes both classic and creative options, allowing you to enjoy traditional kushiage as well as innovative ones. On this day, the 5 skewers were shrimp, shiitake mushroom, eel, chicken, and pork kimchi. Enjoying the freshly fried skewers along with white rice and side dishes, the timing of when the next skewer arrives is perfect, thanks to the counter seating. Each skewer offers a different flavor profile, from the citrusy aroma of the shrimp to the subtle sauce on the shiitake, the spiciness of the eel with sansho pepper, the chicken with tartar sauce, and the pork kimchi with its acidity and spiciness. Being able to enjoy such a diverse course at a specialized restaurant for only 1,100 yen makes this kushiage lunch a great value, so I highly recommend it! (^ω^*) I'm on Instagram @ginjirou.star

Hello everyone❗I made a reservation through ikkyu.com, so maybe that's why you didn't recognize me? Six years ago, this tempura restaurant had a rating of 3.26 with 4 reviews. Now, it's a popular restaurant with a rating of 3.62 on Tabelog❗ The master recognized me and said, "It's been 5-6 years, right?" I replied, "No, I don't know you," in a naive way. I had completely forgotten about this until I wrote this review. Sorry, Master❗ It's amazing that you remembered me❗ (I wonder who I came with?) (Probably...⚪⚪?) (Well, it's all good now❗) Haha❗ In Kitashinchi, where many Michelin-starred restaurants are located, there is a popular hidden gem tempura restaurant called Takenaka. The interior is a traditional Japanese counter-style restaurant. The tempura here is seasoned without using any sauce; all the flavor is in each skewer. It's a fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine, incorporating Western cooking techniques. The first dish was a luxurious sea urchin jelly, a dish that has been unchanged since the founding of the restaurant. It's delicious❤️ The joy of eating tempura lies in the surprise and flavor hidden in each skewer's batter. Each skewer here is delicious❤️ The finishing meal included fatty tuna sushi rolls, karasumi soba, and tamagoyaki. The presentation was amazing❗ And of course, the dessert was top-notch❗ Tiramisu with hot chocolate poured over cold tiramisu ice cream was a performance that got everyone excited❗ This restaurant continues to offer fantastic fusion tempura and dishes that combine Japanese, French, and Italian cuisine, along with delicious sake, at a reasonable price. It's a wonderful tempura restaurant in Kitashinchi that has been providing consistent quality. The food was so light that you wouldn't think it was fried food; it felt like I was eating either Japanese or French-Italian cuisine! It was delicious❗ Thank you for the feast❤️ ===========

On December 5th (Monday) at 11:30 am, my wife and I visited ❤️ Kushikatsu TAKENAKA for the first time. It was their opening time, so out of the 10 seats available, it was just the two of us. By the time we left, all 10 seats were full, showing that it is indeed a very popular restaurant. The lunch menu consists of one option: ☆ Appetizers included sesame dressing, simmered dish, and sea lettuce polenta, among others (so delicious!); ☆ Simple vegetable salad (good!); ☆ Delicious red miso soup with fried tofu; ☆ The main dish was kimchi-wrapped pork, marinated oysters, crispy lotus root, juicy shrimp, and tender chicken tenders with their unique tartar sauce (so tasty!); ☆ Finished with hot chai (good!); ☆ All this delicious food for only 1,100 yen including tax! Amazing! Hats off to the owner! We left feeling very satisfied.

The shop only has a counter. Located in Kita-Shinchi, it's always lively with accompanying customers and fully packed. The kushikatsu is seasoned inside, so you eat it as is. The taste is solid and decent. The last dish, rice cooked in a kettle, was delicious and fluffy. If you make a reservation and go to the restaurant, after 8 PM you might be able to eat quietly and leisurely.

The course is reasonably priced in the 7,000 yen range, where you can enjoy kushikatsu and dishes. The kushikatsu has a slightly thick batter. I personally prefer it fried at a higher temperature. The dishes are good for this type of restaurant. The course starts with an amuse-bouche of carrot mousse topped with sea urchin and consommé jelly. Then, a delicious matsutake mushroom and conger eel soup followed by kushikatsu. The kushikatsu is served without any sauce, as the flavors are already in the kushikatsu. The accompanying vegetables are served with bagna cauda. First, there are prawn, beef loin, and red snapper kushikatsu. Then, a creamy soup of yam, followed by asparagus, cloud ear fungus, and pork kushikatsu. For palate cleansing, there is soba noodles with karasumi, rolled seaweed with Indian tuna and cucumber, and omelette. Lastly, there are chicken, scallop, and prawn breaded and fried on skewers. The meal ends with a clay pot rice with mentaiko and dried young sardines with sansho pepper, and for dessert, tiramisu.

I had lunch. There was no menu. It cost 1100 yen. It was a very high cost-performance. The appetizer was 5 skewers (shrimp, vegetables, yellowtail, chicken, pork kimchi). Rice cooked in a clay pot with sprinkled ground sansho pepper. Miso soup. Chai tea. You could have seconds of rice. You can choose between iced or hot chai.
