"I visited 'Star ☆ Ramen' in Higashi-Mikuni and tried the 'Akira Star' (6 cups) for 800 yen. The broth is made from pork and has a low viscosity, with added back fat in a soy sauce base. The soy sauce flavor is rich and the broth has a good balance of pork umami, with a slight acidity and peppery accent. The homemade medium-thin straight noodles have a good texture and firmness. The chashu is tender and well seasoned, allowing the meat's flavor to shine through."

This time, I went to a place about a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Mikuni! I had high hopes because they were serving oyster ramen until last week. The limited edition was a spicy curry... oh well! So, I ordered a ramen similar to Akira ramen! It was a traditional tonkotsu soy sauce ramen like the one from Daiichi Asahi. Simple yet delicious! It was a satisfying bowl from morning. Thank you for the meal! ✨

During a regular lunchtime at Higashi-Mikuni Station, it's about a 4-minute walk straight north from exit 2. Inside the clean restaurant, you purchase your meal ticket from the machine on the left side upon entering, then grab some water and utensils before seating yourself. The spacious interior only has a large L-shaped counter with seating for 7 people. You won't be able to see the big TV as it's located behind the counter. After handing your meal ticket to the lone staff member, you'll have to wait a bit before your bowl of ramen is served. The soup is a blend of pork broth and soy sauce with a layer of back fat on top, giving it that classic Akira-style flavor. The richness of the animal-based umami and the sharpness of the soy sauce, combined with the sweet back fat, create a delicious taste. The strong pepper is balanced out by the back fat and crispy bean sprouts and green onions. The large, thin slices of pork are a mix of leg and shoulder meat, with a slightly dry texture but a light umami flavor that complements the soup well. The medium-thin noodles have a soft texture. Thank you for the meal.

Akira Star 6th bowl (Pork + Soy Sauce 800 yen) ★★★★
The soup is a soy sauce flavored pork-based broth. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles. The toppings include pork shoulder and pork loin chashu, Kujo negi (leeks), and bean sprouts. The soup is made from pork with a slightly higher amount of oil and lard, with a peppery accent, a clear soy sauce flavor, and a sweet umami taste, enhancing the richness of the pork. The homemade noodles have a firm texture and a rich wheat flavor. The medium-thick slices of pork made from Miyazaki Kinako pork include 2 slices of pork shoulder and 3 slices of pork loin, providing a chewy and meaty taste. The crunchy bean sprouts also add a nice touch. The restaurant opens at 7 am, making it possible to have ramen for breakfast. (Recommended items: noodles and chashu) 2023.08.27 Star Ramen

"Akira Star SP Chashu Ramen" (1000 yen). A very orthodox ramen. The green onions and bean sprouts are crunchy and delicious. The chashu is not rare or like prosciutto, just a very typical chashu. Easy to eat Chinese soba. It may lack impact, but it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

A few days ago, I passed by and remembered this place, so I decided to have lunch here after a long time! It was my second visit since June last year. It opened on May 8, 2022. I ordered the "Akira Star SP Chashu Ramen," which had a strong soy sauce flavor in a rich animal-based broth with floating back fat. The dry chashu was also delicious. The slurp-worthy noodles were great too. This Neo-classic bowl is addictive with its rich flavors. It would definitely go well with rice.

While on the move, I decided to stop by the trendy and popular "Star Ramen" to have a lunch and dinner combo. I ordered the limited menu item "Drooling Chicken Style Cold Noodles with Spicy Sesame Oil" by pressing the "limited button" on the ticket machine. They informed me in advance that it would take some time, but my dish arrived in about 10 minutes. The dish featured a rare chicken tataki using premium Omi black chicken, which paired perfectly with the spicy fried garlic and sesame oil sauce. The noodles, made by Noodle Tetsu, were flat and medium-thick, providing a good chewiness and pleasant texture. The sesame-based sauce with a decent amount of spicy chili oil started off light and refreshing like a salad, but gradually became addictively spicy towards the end. I was completely satisfied and finished every last bite. I would love to visit again while they are still serving this dish. This was my 240th bowl of ramen this year.

"Spicy Chilled Noodles with Dripping Chicken Flavor - Spicy Sesame Oil Sauce - ¥1,300
The vibrant red counter, transparent glass bowl, yellow-orange spicy oil, white sauce, red tomatoes, scattered green lettuce, and a garnish of shredded red chili peppers. The color scheme and visual presentation show a sense of style that is unmatched by most men.
The dish comes with about 8 slices of marinated rare Chashu made from Omi black chicken. You can also add extra meat for an additional fee, but the default amount is already quite generous in terms of chewiness, flavor, and juiciness. The combination of the meat and noodles alone is worth the price.
The medium-thin straight flat noodles from Toyonaka Men-Tetsu are perfect for the cold dish, offering a good balance of firmness and glossiness. The crispy fried garlic provides a crunchy texture and a fragrant flavor that enhances the overall experience.
As you continue eating, you start to feel the spiciness gradually intensifying, adding a stimulating kick to the dish. Although the default menu is delicious, the high rate of limited-time offerings always tempts me to try them out."

I met up with a senior colleague whom I have always been grateful to, and we decided to have a work lunch at a place that had been on my list for a while. My colleague exclaimed, "Oh, it's open. I've been wanting to go here!" and we ended up at a restaurant known for its noodles, similar to Men-Tetsu. The place is run by a woman, which might explain its cleanliness and charm. The design of the mugs for self-serve water was also cute. I ordered the classic Akira Star ramen. The noodles were straight and not curly, but packed with the flavor of the noodle flour, making it enjoyable to eat while sipping the soup. The soup was rich in fat, but surprisingly light with delicate toppings like green onions. It was easy to eat. It seems that my colleague enjoys this type of ramen. I now understand why this place is recommended for a morning ramen. It was enjoyable to watch my colleague eat with such genuine delight. Wait, you're treating me too? I haven't experienced this recently, so I'm happy. Thank you for the meal.

The combination of vinegar ponzu and Asahi is super delicious! Star Ramen (Higashi-Sanko) with Sudachi Star + Akira Star DX is a rare item. Cold vinegar ponzu ramen is a rare item, popular in Kanto but not as much in Kansai. Akira menu has evolved into a deep, rich flavor like Daiki (Matsuo Shrine).

On Sunday morning, I woke up early and wanted to have morning udon, but unfortunately the place was closed. So, I thought of another option and remembered a popular ramen shop a bit far away. Since I had a car, it was no problem. The shop opens at 7:00 in the morning and serves a simple soy sauce ramen called "Akira Star." The ramen consists of chashu, green onions, and bean sprouts. The chashu was surprisingly large and had a good balance of meat and fat. The crunchy bean sprouts made the soy sauce ramen easy to eat in the morning. The soup was light and easy to drink. The female owner seemed very diligent. The shop was clean and had a large TV, which was a nice touch for a ramen shop. It was a good impression of ramen, different from the popular style in Takaida. Thank you for the meal.

When we think of stars, we think of "Nishiki no Akira." I thought it would be a fancy ramen, but it turned out to be a solid traditional soy sauce ramen. It's refreshing yet flavorful and delicious! As you eat, you can see "stars" appearing. Ah, I see, it's Star Ramen.

Pork trotter soy sauce baka-tsuke ramen star (Pork + soy sauce 1400 yen) ★★★★ The soup is a pork-based soy sauce flavor. The noodles are medium-thick straight noodles. The toppings include pork shoulder and pork leg chashu, pork trotter, garlic chives, garlic chips, and red chili pepper. This time, I tried the limited edition "Pork Trotter Soy Sauce Baka-tsuke Ramen Star". The soup is made from pork and has a slightly oily texture, with a spicy kick from the red chili pepper and a rich flavor from the soy sauce. It has a strong umami taste from the pork and a stamina-inducing garlic flavor. The homemade noodles are firm with a good bounce and a glossy surface, with a rich wheat flavor. You can choose between 200g to 300g of noodles. The large slices of pork shoulder and pork leg made from Miyazaki's Kinako pork provide a satisfying meaty texture, while the pork trotter has a bouncy texture and is very delicious. You can enjoy a change in flavor with the provided black pepper. The restaurant opens at 7 am and offers morning ramen. Delicious! Star Ramen (Higashi-Mikuni) is a special dish with pork feet in soy sauce broth, topped with idiotic noodles. I added extra meat, egg, green onions, and a bowl of extra sauce. I also added a raw egg (off-menu). You can choose between 200g and 400g of noodles for the same price, so I went with 400g! The soy sauce idiotic noodles are a popular limited menu item at Men-Tetsugroup stores. This dish was named after the "Soy Sauce Idiot" nickname given to those who love thick soy sauce ramen. The last image is from Osaka Men-Tetsu. Star Ramen is a Men-Tetsu exclusive product.

I visited a restaurant that had been open for a year at the neighboring station. They have a unique business model with regular closures on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, and opening from 7:00 in the morning on the latter half of the week. When I entered before lunchtime, I found a female owner managing the place alone. The most striking feature was the large TV with a soundbar and even a recorder right in the middle of the store. I ordered the Akira Star, a signature dish priced at 800 yen, using the ticket machine. As an older gentleman, I couldn't help but wonder if the owner was a fan of Akira Nishino, but that might be a generation gap. While pondering this, my order arrived. I took a sip of the soup and thought, "Hmm, it's a light soy-based broth with crunchy bean sprouts and green onions providing a satisfying crunch." The balance of noodles and chashu was also good. It seemed like a perfect dish for a post-drinking meal. As I finished the soup, the spicy pepper gave a nice kick. Thank you for the meal.

This day, I went to the restaurant "Star Ramen" to have morning ramen. It seems to be produced by the Men-Tech group. I arrived at the shop around 8:45 after a 5-minute walk from Exit 2 of Osaka Metro Higashi-Mikuni Station. First, I purchased a ticket at the entrance ticket machine! I chose the classic "Akira Star"♪ I sat at the L-shaped counter with 7 seats and waited for my ramen to be served! In about 5 minutes, the ramen was served! The soup was a clear pork soy sauce soup! It was rich but refreshing, giving a Kyoto ramen vibe! The noodles were slightly low-hydrated thin straight noodles! I wonder if they use the noodles from Menya Takeru. The toppings included sliced pork, bean sprouts, and green onions. The sliced pork was thin, and the bean sprouts and green onions were generously served. It was truly a restaurant produced by the Men-Tech group‼︎ Finally, I finished every last drop of the soup. Thank you for the meal!

Star Ramen! This is a place where you can enjoy morning ramen starting from 7 am. It's now past 9:30 am and the restaurant was empty at first, but then more and more customers started coming in. Today, I tried the limited edition Pork Feet Soy Sauce Tsukemen, a specialty at Men Tetsu. The noodles were thinner since it was a morning ramen, with 200g of them. The soup was a rich blend of animal-based clear broth and strong soy sauce. The toppings included unique ingredients like leeks, garlic chips, bird's eye chili, and a lot of pork feet. The soup was flavorful with a mix of rich soy sauce and pork feet fat, while the noodles were well coated in the rich soup. The sweetness of the leeks, spiciness of the bird's eye chili, and the garlic chips added great flavors. The pork chashu was tender and flavorful, and the pork feet were deliciously plump and not too oily. I finished the bowl without diluting the soup, savoring every last drop. It was a delicious bowl with a unique twist, a specialty at Men Tetsu.

At Akira's favorite restaurant, I had the mouth-watering Tori Star Ramen at Higashi-Mikuni. It was like Tori No Karaage-style cold noodles with extra chicken, star egg, Kyujo negi, and a char siu rice bowl. I also added a raw egg on the side. The dish came with spicy sesame sauce and Omi black chicken. The noodles were from Menya La Grande, and unfortunately, they don't offer a large portion. This dish has been a favorite of mine since the Ririn era in Honmachi. It's a limited menu item available from May 25th, while their regular menu features Akira's signature Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen as the main attraction. They also have a monthly curry special.

"Akira Star" for 800 yen
[Soup] A light and gentle pork broth with floating lard, with a hint of pepper
[Noodles] Thin straight noodles similar to the style of Asahi, but with less water content, giving a firmer texture
[Toppings] Tender pork chashu, crunchy bean sprouts, and green onions
I initially planned to order the "Naked" for 600 yen without any toppings due to visiting the shop multiple times, but accidentally ended up ordering the default option on the ticket machine. I expected this ramen to be similar to the Akira-style ramen from Kyoto's Asahi, but it turned out to be a different type - gentle and easy to eat. It seems they also offer morning ramen. Thank you for the meal!
