In January 2020, I visited a hidden gem in Honmachi, Osaka after a long time! I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before opening to secure a seat at the counter, which cannot be reserved. The staff were busy preparing for the opening, and at exactly 6:00 PM, I entered the restaurant. Despite being cold in the winter, I ordered a beer and tried to warm up quickly with dishes like fresh saury sashimi, skipjack tuna sashimi, steamed oysters in sake, grilled conger eel, and young corn. Sitting at the counter allowed me to choose my dishes directly from the ingredients and watch the chefs in action, making the food taste even better than if I were sitting at a table. I switched to a highball made with a hand-squeezed mixer and added dishes like beef harami, clams, shunpin, chicken and bacon rolls, tuna with green onions, and seared sushi rolls. Everything was truly delicious, especially the chicken breast, which I tried for the first time among their classic menu items.
In November 2022, I visited the restaurant again after a long time. This time, I had a private room. Due to COVID-19, the opening hours seemed to have changed, as the restaurant was already open when I arrived before 6:00 PM. I enjoyed dishes like assorted sashimi, beef harami, shunpin, and bacon rolls.
In July 2023, I visited the restaurant as my second stop, and miraculously secured the best seat. Here is what I ordered: fresh saury, red snapper, squid lips, shunpin, maitake mushrooms, spare ribs, meat pie, duck meatballs, salmon belly, and grilled rice balls with plum and salmon roe. It was amazing! Even the staff were happy with our choices. Currently, the restaurant has a rating of 3.59 on Tabelog.
