It's hot every day, isn't it? Today, to avoid heatstroke, I went to a yakiniku restaurant called Shibusan for lunch, which I had been looking forward to since July. The place is a bit hidden on a small street near the intersection north of the Seven Eleven on Route 498. The exterior is a navy blue single-story building, and the interior is a bit small. I ordered the Shibusan set meal for 1,100 yen (with a 100 yen discount for lunch) and added Genghis Khan for 800 yen. The set meal came with soba. The Genghis Khan, made with hand-cut lamb shoulder, was delicious and tender, with a generous amount of green onions. The soba was stretchy and the soup was tasty. Overall, the meal was very delicious, although I sweated a lot due to the lack of air conditioning in the restaurant. I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal!

As always, I lacked the energy to cook dinner, but I was also getting tired of my usual drinking options. Remembering a place I had been curious about and a friend's recommendation, I decided to visit Yakiniku Shibusan. I arrived just before 7 pm without a reservation and was lucky to find a free table in a small raised seating area. I started with a Kirin Ichiban beer for 550 yen and some kimchi for 250 yen each. For food, I tried the pork heart for 550 yen, deer meat for 600 yen, and skirt steak for 850 yen. I also ordered a 200g steak for 1100 yen, which was the highlight of the meal with plenty of garlic on top. The atmosphere was cozy, like eating at a relative's house where everything is prepared for you. Overall, the meat was decent, but the marinade made it more flavorful. It was a convenient spot for when you want to take it easy. The meal ended with a homemade blueberry jelly dessert to cleanse the palate. It was a satisfying dining experience.

I ordered the yakiniku set meal. It was cheap, the meat was delicious, and it was good. I don't drink alcohol, so I usually have yakiniku without rice and with beer, but this time I had meat and rice, and I was satisfied because the meat was delicious. In the evening, I was also satisfied with the same price as lunch. The owner is easy to talk to, which is normal for a yakiniku restaurant, but it would be better if the ventilation was a little better. It might be a place you can casually visit. The homemade dessert was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

"I visited Yakiniku Shibusan. Originally, this restaurant was operating in Memuro, but it had quietly relocated to neighboring town of Onojocho in Obihiro! It seems like they renovated a regular house for the restaurant, as I found a sliding door and what looked like a bath near the entrance. The name 'Shibusan' comes from an area called Memuro Shibayama. They used to operate in Memuro Shibayama before moving to Onojocho, but they kept the name. Their specialty seems to be Genghis Khan (grilled lamb). The sauce is delicious and goes well with the meat. The meat, which is tender and free of any odor, is carefully prepared by the owner over two days to remove any blood. The grill is a small gas stove perfect for two people. They also provide a small dessert as a service. The restaurant is smoke-free and the ventilation is quiet, but the smell does stick to your clothes and hair. The owner is very friendly, so I would like to visit again."

On October 6, 2013 - revisited - went to have lunch with my partner and an elderly lady I get along with. I ordered the Shibu-san set meal, and as always, the meat was delicious. The soba noodles had a sweet broth and were tasty. The dessert was a coffee-flavored panna cotta. On September 8, 2013, we visited for dinner with my partner. This was our second visit, the first being in February with some friends. We ordered the Jingisukan set meal for two, a sashimi plate, a Hormone plate, and a cola. The appetizer was tofu with Kinoko mushrooms. The Jingisukan had a nice thickness and was tender. The meat was not seasoned, so you could eat it with sauce or the salt seasoning on the table. The master kindly served us venison as a service. The dessert was a grape-flavored panna cotta. The dessert changes monthly, and it's always a treat to see what the master comes up with. The restaurant may have a limited selection of meat, but it serves delicious yakiniku. The changing dessert makes it exciting to visit every month.
