Located in Chuo-ku, Osaka, "Imose" is a renowned soba restaurant nestled quietly in a residential area, just a 10-minute walk northwest from Tamatsukuri Station on the JR Loop Line and Osaka Metro Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line. I visited the restaurant at 11:30 on a weekday and ordered the "Cold Meiyama (Tororo Soba)" (1100 yen tax included) and "Kakinoha Sushi (2 pieces)" (300 yen tax included). While waiting to be served with "sobagaki" and soba tea, I enjoyed the "Kakinoha Sushi," which had a perfect balance of vinegared rice and saltiness from the mackerel, highly recommended by many. The "Cold Meiyama" tororo soba was a delightful combination of egg white meringue and nagaimo, creating a light and slightly sweet texture. The rich soba broth complemented the thin, chewy soba noodles, and the addition of egg yolk and two types of seaweed added depth to the dish. Mixing the ingredients slightly rather than fully blending them allowed for a more nuanced flavor experience. Lastly, the rich soba-yu with added soba flour was a delicious finish to the meal. The service was excellent, and overall, it was a lunch experience that truly showcased why "Imose" is a renowned establishment. I look forward to visiting again and recommend making reservations in advance due to the restaurant's popularity.

I walked about 5 minutes from the station and found a lovely restaurant. I arrived before 2 pm and had to wait for about 10 minutes. I ordered duck soba. The soba was very delicious! It had a lot of duck in it, and at the end, I also had soba-yu to finish off the meal. Maybe it was soba tea? The tea was also delicious. The staff at the restaurant were bright and very nice. The atmosphere and the taste were both very good.

The interior of the restaurant with a traditional Japanese atmosphere is very calming, making you feel like you have returned to the countryside. The sunken hearth seats right at the entrance have a nice charm, but the height of the tables and chairs is unbalanced, causing discomfort in the back while eating. This time, I was seated at a table at the back of the counter, which was a relief. I ordered a "seiro (28 white)" for 900 yen and "persimmon leaf sushi" for 3 pieces at 450 yen. Although the menu only states 2 pieces for 300 yen, additional orders are possible. First, fried soba was served with buckwheat tea, followed by sushi. Then, the soba was brought out, which had a smooth and refreshing texture. The must-try dish here is the "persimmon leaf sushi," each piece wrapped in a persimmon leaf. It is highly recommended, as it may sell out depending on the order. The couple next to me missed out on it, so I ended up ordering 3 pieces...sorry! Lastly, I enjoyed a rich soba broth to warm my heart. Reservations are recommended as they prioritize reservations, and same-day reservations are accepted from 7:30 in the morning.

This is a soba restaurant where you can make reservations by phone from the morning. I visited without a reservation on a weekday this time, but there was still a line of people. Reservations are definitely necessary on weekends. They have a specialty dish called "Imouto-yama Soba" which is topped with grated yam and egg yolk meringue, but I wanted to taste the simplicity of the soba, so I ordered the Jyuwari and the countryside soba which is only available on certain days. First, I tried them as they were, slurping them up. Both had a strong soba aroma, a good texture, and were delicious. The dipping sauce was a bit spicy. It might be good to just enjoy it with salt and wasabi.

Located in Tamatsukuri, which may not have the best location, is a hidden gem of a soba restaurant that always seems to be bustling. The interior of the restaurant, designed in a traditional Japanese style, exudes a calming atmosphere. The "Soba Set" is priced at 900 yen, while the "Kakinoha-zushi" (3 pieces) costs 450 yen. To start, you are served crispy fried soba along with soba tea. This is followed by sushi and then the main dish of smooth and refreshing 80% buckwheat soba. The flavors linger in your mouth, leaving a satisfying aftertaste. A must-try here is the "Kakinoha-zushi," saba sushi wrapped in individual persimmon leaves. It pairs perfectly with the soba. This dish tends to sell out quickly, so make sure to try it if you have the chance. Lastly, the meal concludes with a rich soba broth that warms the soul. While there may be a line, reservations are recommended as they prioritize those with reservations. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

This soba is amazing. Let's try it with salt! Mmm, delicious! Dip it in the broth... Mmm, tasty! Ah, so good! I also tried the persimmon leaf sushi. Haha, so tasty! Oh, delicious! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented! The texture and flavor were perfect. Really delicious. I will definitely come back for more.

"Bib Gourmand-winning soba restaurant 'Sobakiri Imose' is located in a residential area a little distance from the station. It is a hidden gem of a popular soba restaurant, always bustling with reserved customers. I was in the mood for warm soba, so I hesitated between the 'Suzushiro' with daikon, shiso, and myoga, and the 'Imoyama' with grated nagaimo, meringue, and egg yolk on top. I ended up choosing the 'Imoyama' and soon after ordering, I was served soba tea and tempura soba. The restaurant was full of reserved customers, so coming early was a good decision. I also enjoyed some persimmon leaf sushi. That day, I tried the warm 'Imoyama' soba. While I usually prefer cold soba, the warm broth made the nagaimo soft and fluffy, enveloping the egg yolk. The handmade soba was delicious, even when served warm. It was a unique and delightful experience to savor the specialty soba at this popular restaurant with a creative and dedicated menu."

I visited "Imose," a soba restaurant that has been featured in the Michelin Guide for five consecutive years. As the weather is getting colder, I decided to have the Imoyama soba (soba with grated long yam) for something warm. The bonito broth was delicious! The restaurant had a nostalgic atmosphere with a hearth and a farmhouse style, which added to the overall experience.

Today, I visited "Imose" in Tamatsukuri, Osaka. The entrance has a nice atmosphere, with a rustic feel like a farmhouse, fitting for a soba restaurant. I had the cold soba with grated yam, and it was delicious with a rich broth.

Waiting time: None
Menu: Country soba 900 yen + Large serving 400 yen
I had been curious about this place for a while, but since it's a reservation priority restaurant, I hadn't had the chance to visit until now. There were many Michelin stickers at the entrance, which raised my expectations as they have been awarded the Bib Gourmand for many years. I ordered the large serving of country soba. While waiting, I was served fried soba snacks with a salty flavor. It's a bit high in salt content but delicious. After a short wait, the soba was brought to me, and it was a generous portion. It's rare to find a soba restaurant that serves such a large portion. The thin soba noodles were delicious even when eaten with just salt. The wasabi had a sharp spiciness and a wonderful aroma. Despite the generous portion, I finished it in no time. The satisfaction level was so high for just 1,300 yen, the cost-performance ratio is too good. I will definitely make a reservation for my next visit. Thank you for the meal.

Lunch at Imose, a soba restaurant in Tamatsukuri. The interior of the restaurant is charming with features like a hearth. We ordered a large serving of seiro soba, a large serving of juwari soba, and 2 pieces of persimmon leaf sushi. We were served fried soba and cold soba tea first, both of which were delicious. The persimmon leaf sushi was made with mackerel, but it was lightly wrapped in persimmon leaves, giving it a fresh taste rather than a strong persimmon flavor. The seiro soba portion was quite generous, which was a pleasant surprise. The soba had a nice texture, not too firm, and the flavor of the soba was decent. It was tasty even when eaten with salt. The juwari soba had a stronger soba flavor compared to the seiro soba, and personally, I preferred it more. The soba broth provided was not too strong, and there was plenty of it. The wasabi served seemed a bit watery. We were also provided with plenty of soba broth to enjoy. Overall, we left the restaurant feeling satisfied and full. One thing to note is that the restaurant prioritizes reservations, so if you line up before opening without a reservation, you may not be able to get in. It is recommended to make a reservation between 7:30 am and the opening time of 11:30 am. The restaurant has strict rules like no perfume and avoid asking questions during busy times. The male staff members may come off as a bit brusque, while the female staff members are very friendly and welcoming. The soba is cooked individually, so it may take some time for each serving. Despite these considerations, we really enjoyed our experience at this soba restaurant and look forward to trying their seasonal specials like country-style soba and duck soup soba next time.

Date of shooting: June 12, 2022
Location: Tamatsukuri, Chuo-ku, Osaka City
After leaving the south side of Osaka Castle, I wanted to go for lunch, but surprisingly there were not many eateries around. I searched on Google Maps and found this restaurant. When I lined up and entered, I noticed a red sign and upon reading it, I found out that it was listed in the Michelin Guide! This is a rare occurrence, so I decided to splurge and ordered the most expensive dish, the "Duck Soba". It was incredibly delicious and I left fully satisfied!

As it is a popular restaurant, reservations are recommended as they may stop accepting walk-ins. I may have had high expectations, but the food was neither outstanding nor disappointing. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice and pleasant.

This is my second visit. The aroma is very nice and the soba is extremely delicious. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very calm and not noisy, making it highly recommended for an adult lunch. However, since it is a popular restaurant, it is advisable to make a reservation before going. I definitely want to go again next time.

I highly recommend ordering sushi before your soba arrives. There are many other eye-catching dishes, and you may end up eating too much before the soba even arrives. The soba is delicious, and the soba crackers and tea that come out first are amazing. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is also great, making it a place you'll want to visit again.

Located within walking distance from home, the Michelin Guide-listed restaurant "Soba-kiri Imose" serves a delightful meal starting with persimmon leaf sushi accompanied by hot buckwheat tea. Following that, the exquisite Himeyama soba with meringue, yam, seaweed, and egg yolk is served, a visually appealing dish that tastes as good as it looks! The meringue combined with the soba is a delightful experience, and the seaweed adds a delicious crunch. Despite being asked to leave half of it, I couldn't resist finishing most of it, as it was too delicious to leave behind. The broth was also gentle and flavorful. My daughter ordered the Jūwari soba, enjoying the aroma and the moment it passes through the throat, dipping the soba only slightly in the sauce. To finish, a thick buckwheat soup that felt nourishing and healing. I felt like eating such a healthy meal would help my foot heal faster. Despite being a weekday, there was a considerable line, so making a reservation is recommended. Also, note that this restaurant strictly prohibits the use of perfume. It is appreciated that they inform customers about it, as strong scents can be off-putting during a meal. #OsakaGourmet #TamatsukuriGourmet #TamatsukuriLunch #MichelinGuideListedRestaurant #MichelinGuideListedRestaurantOsaka #MichelinBibGourmand #JūwariSoba #Soba #OsakaCuisine #OsakaJapan #OsakaFoodie #JapaneseFood.

I was recommended by a friend to make a reservation by phone on the morning of the day I visited just to be safe. It is recommended to make a reservation as they end when they run out. The restaurant is located very close to Inari Shrine, about a 5-minute walk from Tamamizu Station. It is located in a residential area and has a very quaint exterior. The interior is also very calm with a traditional Japanese house style. They have a notice saying they prefer customers not wearing strong perfume, which I personally appreciated. I had a hard time choosing from the menu but ended up ordering the bukkake soba. Most of the other customers ordered persimmon leaf sushi while waiting for their soba. Since I'm not a fan of persimmon leaf sushi, I had fried soba and soba tea as a starter. The bukkake soba had a delicate flavor and was delicious. I want to try all the other menu items, so I will definitely visit again.

I walked from JR Tamatsukuri Station. It was my second visit on a holiday afternoon. Currently, it seems that they are closed for night business. The restaurant is a traditional Japanese house with a charming atmosphere. Okaki: Fried soba noodles or short strips of fried soba. There are brown and gray varieties. They are lightly salted and deliciously crispy. Persimmon leaf sushi (2 pieces) for 300 yen: Shiny mackerel sushi wrapped in a large persimmon leaf. Grilled miso for 550 yen: Served on a houba leaf with the miso on top. Always kept warm. The miso is thick and fragrant, with soba grains for a crunchy texture. Kakesoba for 900 yen: Served in a large bowl with a clear brown broth. It has a subtle and elegant flavor with hints of yuzu peel and mitsuba. The soba noodles are medium thickness and chewy. Jyuwari soba for 1100 yen: Cold zaru soba. When eaten as is, you can taste the distinct aroma of the soba plant. The wasabi condiment is a pale greenish white color and packs a punch. The dipping sauce is not overly fishy, with a refreshing finish of soba water. The total for two people was 2850 yen. The dishes were incredibly delicious, especially the always warm grilled miso and the flavorful kake dashi. I would love to visit again. The menu includes: Cold soba (sesame) for 900 yen, Country-style soba (black) for 900 yen, Jyuwari stone-ground homemade soba for 1100 yen, Spicy daikon for 1100 yen, Suzushiro for 1100 yen, Bukkake for 1300 yen, Duck soba for 1800 yen, Warm soba (kake soba) for 900 yen, Meiyama for 1100 yen, Nishin soba for 1300 yen, Yuba and egg soba for 1300 yen, Duck Nanban for 1800 yen. Appetizers include: Persimmon leaf sushi for one portion (3 pieces) for 450 yen or (2 pieces) for 300 yen, Grilled miso for 550 yen, Fresh yuba for 400 yen, Sweet simmered herring for 500 yen, Duck teppanyaki for 600 yen, Duck soup for 1000 yen, Plate of pickles for 400 yen.

The Bib Gourmand restaurant located a little away from Tamatsukuri in October 2021. Even after 1 pm, the place was full, but we were able to enter in about 3 minutes as one group was just leaving. The service was friendly, but the staff seemed busy and couldn't return to the seating area quickly. It was a holiday lunch, so we weren't in a hurry. Bukkake soba for 1300 yen - it had grilled miso, green onions, bonito flakes, soba seeds, and shredded radish. The portion was large. The soba seeds were a lot. The grilled miso was decent. Some green onions, seaweed, bonito flakes, soba, and broth were also decent. I didn't feel like I was eating soba, so I'll try something else next time. Thank you for the meal.

When I went to Tamatsukuri for some errands, I was looking for something light to eat and found a small restaurant without any prominent sign, standing quietly near Tamatsukuri Inari Shrine. It was just before 2 o'clock, and I asked the staff if they were still open and ordered the seasonal limited edition mekabu soba. Inside the restaurant, there was a large counter and a separate kitchen. It seemed like it used to be a hearth or an izakaya, with a very quaint atmosphere. While waiting, I was served something like fried soba chips, not too sweet with a delicious salty flavor. It was like soba chips. Eventually, the mekabu soba that I ordered arrived. The bowl was large and full of volume. On top of the soba were mekabu, nameko mushrooms, and grated yamaimo, a slimy trio. The soba was cold, but it wasn't like zaru soba with a thick broth poured over it, but rather a cold, chilled broth poured over the soba. The taste was refreshing for a slightly tired body in the summer, with a harmonious blend of a refreshing broth and the slimy trio. It was truly a delicious broth. Furthermore, the soba itself had a slightly rough texture, which was a nice accent. This was the best soba I had eaten recently. On my second visit, I had the mekabu soba again, and the consistent deliciousness amazed me. Last time I visited, they had run out of mekabu soba, so I tried the regular bukkake soba, which was also delicious with a slightly sweet broth. The soba-yu (soba water) was also very tasty.

I revisited the restaurant after it had finished renovations. It is located a short walk from Tamatsukuri subway station. In front of the restaurant, there are large jars and a makeshift well, creating a traditional atmosphere. Inside, there is a raised seating area with a sunken hearth on the left, a kitchen in the middle, and a counter on the right. Towards the back, there is a room for making soba noodles, making the space quite large. They offer different types of soba noodles, including 80%, inaka, and 100%, which I ordered. The soba noodles had a slightly different thickness and texture, lacking firmness and good draining. However, the taste and aroma of the soba noodles were excellent and delicious. The condiments provided were green onions and wasabi. The dipping sauce was on the sweeter side. The soba broth was served in a small cup, with a decent flavor but not exceptional. This restaurant is a rare find in Osaka, focusing on traditional soba noodles rather than the more common soba izakaya style. They also make their own soba flour, showing a commitment to quality.
