Delicate and highly satisfying sweets! Unconventional ideas like turning mille-feuille vertically are impressive!! Sweets with a subtle sweetness that still satisfy - there are some skills involved in these sweets!! I confess. Every time I travel, I look forward to trying out different sweets. I research cake shops in each place I visit, pick out promising ones, and indulge in delicious cakes. It's become a habit for me. For this trip to Wakkanai, Rishiri, and Rebun, I did some research but couldn't find any standout sweets shops or highly rated places. Oh well, it seems like a dessert wasteland here... So, I bought some backup sweets at Haneda Airport and headed there. As luck would have it, our flight got canceled in Rishiri, so we had to stay another night. Our backup sweets ran out, so I had to search for a nearby sweets shop again. That's when I found this place. With just one review and a rating of 3.02, I thought, well, as long as the cakes are good, that's all that matters. So, I went in with that mindset. The atmosphere felt like a typical local cake shop. And the result... I apologize to everyone in Wakkanai and to the folks at Yumekashikoubou Kudou. I underestimated you. The sweets were amazing. I'm sorry. - Mille-feuille (350 yen + tax) - Amazing. A mille-feuille with layers stacked vertically. The idea of making it easier to eat by stacking it vertically is brilliant!! This kind of creativity is amazing!! I remembered a time when I bought a mille-feuille at a top patisserie in Barcelona, and my grandma who was with me only ate the middle layer and left the rest. I was more amused than upset at that incident. If it's stacked vertically, there's no need to fight over it. Three layers of pastry, four layers of coffee sponge, sandwiched with chocolate-flavored butter mousse. The cocoa aroma of the chocolate is intense. The bitterness of the coffee and caramel elevates the overall taste to an adult level. It's delicious and amazing! - Cake shop Daifuku (350 yen + tax) - A masterpiece. Matcha sponge, sesame cream, red bean paste, soy milk mousse, and whipped cream wrapped in mochi. This is also amazing. The skill in keeping the sweetness low even with mochi is impressive. The red bean paste is not too sweet, with a solid texture and fantastic flavor. The red bean paste is so good that I want to eat it on its own. The soy milk mousse adds a smoothness to the overall taste. The matcha bitterness adds an adult touch, making it another high-quality sweet. Amazing. - Fruit tart (390 yen + tax) - An almond cream tart with custard cream, whipped cream, and plenty of fruits. The fruits include kiwi, strawberry, blueberry, etc., all cut into uniform sizes. The fruits are sweet, not sour at all. Amazing. The custard cream is rich yet not too sweet, another high-quality item. The tart has a strong buttery flavor, adding to the satisfaction, and the almond scent contributes to an adult atmosphere. It has a good thickness, giving it a substantial bite. This is also amazing. - Smooth pudding (260 yen + tax) - A smooth and delicious pudding. Noteworthy is the strong milk flavor rather than just the smoothness. You can feel the refreshing taste of milk. Is this also a skill unique to Hokkaido... Sweets fans!! If you're in Wakkanai, you can't miss this shop!!
