I visited this farm because I was nearby and wanted to eat some melon. I only wanted to buy one as a souvenir, but since I was staying for a few more days, I asked for a cut piece. While looking at the displayed products, they offered me a sample of watermelon, but my child was too nervous to eat it. So the shopkeeper prepared a boiled corn (250 yen) for us. My child ate it cautiously, but was satisfied with the taste and smiled. The cut melon (350 yen) was also sweet and delicious.

I decided to challenge the all-you-can-eat melon at a famous place called Nakata Farm in Hokkaido. Despite the website saying to make a reservation at least a week in advance, I called the day before and easily got a spot. It's about a 20-30 minute drive from Furano city. Even though it was raining, the drive was nice as the rural roads in Hokkaido are quiet and have few traffic lights. It cost around 1,500-2,000 yen per person for 20 minutes of all-you-can-eat premium melons. They were huge and much sweeter than melons in Osaka. We couldn't eat too much, but managed to go for seconds. We also tried the delicious sweet corn called "morokoshi" here. I decided to send some Hokkaido souvenirs from here.

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to those affected by the recent Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake. I got off at the Hokkaido Expressway Shikotsu-Tōya National Park IC and headed north on National Route 237 towards Furano and Biei. As I entered Furano City, I noticed several tourist farms along the national highway, with signs advertising melons and watermelons catching my eye. I decided to stop at the Nakata Farm and tried a sample of their melon, which was incredibly sweet and delicious. I ended up purchasing a box of 4 melons for ¥5,500 and had it delivered by Kuroneko Yamato. The melons sold as "Furano melons" are simply melons produced in Furano, and they come in various varieties. The melons I bought this time were King Ruby (other varieties include Luvia Red, R113, Tiara, and Blue-Fleshed King Melty). King Ruby is a rare and valuable melon with beautiful orange flesh that is slightly firm, fine-grained, juicy, and has an average sugar content of over 16 degrees, offering a high level of sweetness. After returning home, I waited for the melons to ripen before eating them. As you can see in the photos, they were very ripe and incredibly sweet, with a personal taste of around 18 degrees of sugar content, making them delicious King Rubies. And at less than ¥2,000 per melon including shipping, they were quite affordable! I gave some as souvenirs to friends, and they were very pleased. While Yubari melons (specifically the Yubari King melon variety) are famous for being high-end, Furano melons have higher sugar content and are more affordable, making them highly recommended melons. "Thank you for the meal."

I came to buy my favorite watermelon! Even though Mrs. Nakata from Nakata Farm was busy with customers, she quickly came over when she saw me. She seems to have a soft spot for me for some reason. She helped me pick out a delicious watermelon after carefully examining them. Of course, there were samples to taste as well. You never know how good a watermelon is until you cut it open, but with Mrs. Nakata's choice, there's no way it could be bad. She's truly amazing. Every year, there are ponies in the neighboring field. They are so cute! Usually, they come over to say hi, but this time they were too busy eating. They are adorable creatures! I cut the watermelon at home. It wasn't mushy, had a nice crunch, was juicy, and had the perfect sweetness. This year, with the intense heat, I plan on eating lots of watermelon. Delicious watermelon, bon appétit!

Every month, I have business in the Furano area, and at this time of year, each farm sells their delicious watermelons, melons, and corn in abundance on their premises! I have tried various farms' produce, but in recent years, I have been eating only from Nakata Farm. They sell both raw and boiled corn, and this time I decided to buy boiled corn. On this day, the weather was terrible with rain and wind, so I couldn't take as many pictures as I wanted... There were also watermelon and melon tastings, and I heard that the melons this year are of good quality. Nakata Farm has a cute grandma, and it's always fun to see her face! This year, she remembered us again! I tried the melon tasting, and it was really sweet and delicious! I love watermelon, and I can't wait to eat it, but it has become a rule in our house that my partner always buys watermelon from Nakata Farm, so I will wait for him to come back from the hospital to buy it... Now, let's go back to the car and eat the warm corn. The kernels are firm and juicy, with a good crunch. The corn is also filled perfectly. Take a big bite! The juicy kernels burst in your mouth, spreading sweet juice. It's delicious again this year! I can't wait to eat watermelon. Delicious corn, bon appétit!
