I'm thinking about where to have lunch, so I'm visiting Sweet Basil for the first time. Sweet Basil is located at 1-11-9 Oyodonan, Kita-ku, Osaka City, a 5-minute walk from JR Osaka Loop Line "Fukushima" Station. It has been selected as one of the top 100 Asian and Ethnic restaurants in the West by Tabelog in 2022. I arrived at the restaurant a little after 12 o'clock. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and holidays (dinner only) and the business hours are from Monday to Saturday 11:30-13:00 (L.O.) and 17:30-21:00 (L.O.), and on Sundays 17:30-21:00 (L.O). The exterior has a Thai atmosphere, with a Thai-style roofed motorcycle fixed under the signboard. I went up the indoor stairs, disinfected my hands with alcohol at the entrance, got permission to take photos, and sat at a table. The restaurant was almost full, with Thai ornaments, maps, and an authentic atmosphere. The lunch menu has five options: stir-fried dish (daily), curry (daily), shrimp fried rice set, Thai-style soy sauce-flavored stir-fried noodles set, and Thai-style chicken rice set (limited quantity). All sets come with salad, soup, and a drink. I asked if they could still serve the limited Thai-style chicken rice set, and they said yes. My husband ordered the Thai-style chicken rice set with extra portion. The total came to 1,200 yen. First, we had soup and salad. The soup had a gentle taste of chicken broth and a hint of ginger. The salad was Yum Woon Sen (glass noodle salad) with plenty of minced meat, balanced with herbs, spices, spiciness, and acidity. The Thai-style chicken rice (Khao Man Gai) was served with steamed chicken thigh on a bed of jasmine rice. The chicken was tender and delicious. The jasmine rice cooked in chicken broth was fragrant with ginger. The Tao Jio sauce was unique and perfect for both the chicken and rice. We enjoyed the meal while feeling the Thai atmosphere. After the meal, we had mango juice to refresh. We paid the bill, thanked the staff at Sweet Basil, and left the restaurant. Husband: Thank you for the meal! It was delicious! We'll come again! Thank you for reading till the end. I hope this information can be helpful for your gourmet experience.
