Today, I visited a newly opened restaurant called "Goma Soba Yakumo" which opened on November 1st. I had tried sesame soba two months ago in Toyohira, but it has been about a year and a half since I last had it at this place. I remember when I ordered the mori soba at the Aurora Town store, it came out in just 2 minutes (laughs). As I took the escalator up to the 6th floor of Stella Place CENTER, I couldn't help but notice how surprisingly spacious Stella Place is. With 21 shops on one floor, it's quite large. I entered from the east entrance of CENTER, located near Daimaru on the 6th floor. I arrived at 4:30 pm, which was the first day of opening, so the staff were actively trying to attract customers. The exterior of the restaurant had a bright atmosphere, perhaps due to its location. Inside, there were only table seats, no counter seats. The staff greeted me and said, "Please choose any seat you like." I decided to sit at a 4-person table. When the staff brought water, I placed my order for natto soba. The staff seemed a bit surprised by my order, but they confirmed that they had it. The interior of the restaurant was predominantly white, with wooden tables and chairs, and bright lighting. It didn't feel like I was in Yakumo, which I associate with black and folk music. The lack of background music also contributed to this feeling. I noticed that the prices were a bit high, possibly due to the current situation. A small bottle of beer was 690 yen and a glass of beer was 620 yen. I didn't see any set menus that seemed like a good deal. The natto soba I ordered arrived in about 5 minutes. While I was eating, more customers started to trickle in. Most of them ordered the tempura set. The natto soba had grated natto in the center, yellow pickled radish on the side, chopped seaweed, raw egg yolk, green onions, and unexpectedly, watercress instead of cucumber. I also noticed a small dish and spoon on the side, which I wasn't sure how to use. Overall, the soba had a nice texture, but towards the bottom, it tasted a bit salty. I also found the wasabi placed directly on the soba to be a bit unexpected. I couldn't avoid getting a mouthful of wasabi at times. Next time, I'll try the mori soba to compare. Thank you for the meal.
