On Sunday at lunchtime, the restaurant was crowded, but we were seated promptly. Before being seated, we purchased our meal tickets in advance. There was seating at the counter and one table in the back. I ordered the special dipping noodles in large size (300g), with a rich seafood soup that had a strong fish powder aroma at the end. The noodles were thick and chewy, and they mixed well with the soup. The special toppings included chashu, bamboo shoots, green onions, and seasoned egg, making it very filling. The soup had a slightly sweet taste. On the table, there were condiments like spicy seasoning and yuzu citrus powder for flavor variations. My favorite was the yuzu powder. I was very satisfied with the meal. Next time, I would like to try the spicy dipping noodles.

Osaka Station Building is a lunchtime sanctuary for me, as I only go there during lunchtime. This time, I'm wondering what to eat. I feel like having ramen, but it's hot so I'll end up sweating. In that case, I'll go for tsukemen. Looking at the floor map of the building, I spot a famous tsukemen shop called "Monjiro" on the second floor. I decide to check it out. It's a counter-only shop, and I purchase a regular tsukemen from the ticket machine. After a while, the tsukemen arrives. The broth is slightly warm. I wish it was hotter. Well, at least I won't sweat too much. The noodles are the standard thick noodles for tsukemen, and the flavor is also quite standard. I was hoping for more uniqueness or boldness in flavor. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it turned out to be a very standard tsukemen. On the flip side, if you're looking for a tsukemen that's plain and straightforward, then this is the place for you.

I visited the ramen restaurant "Monjiro Umeda Building No. 2 Store" on a weekday in August 2023 around 11 am. The restaurant is located on the 2nd basement floor of the Umeda Building No. 2, just a 2-minute walk from Kitashinchi Station. The small restaurant was about 40% full when I arrived. I purchased a ticket for "tsukemen" for ¥930 with extra noodles from the ticket machine. I sat at the counter seat alone and presented my ticket. After waiting for about 7-8 minutes, the dish was served. The tsukemen consisted of noodles dipped in a simple broth sprinkled with fish powder. The extra noodles amounted to 300 grams, but they didn't seem very voluminous. I dipped the noodles into the broth and found it to be not too thick, with a light and refreshing taste. The broth contained chashu, menma, green onions, nori, and fish powder. It had a good balance of flavors, making it easy to eat. Although it was good, I felt that adding sliced onions as a topping would enhance the taste and texture. Enjoying the noodles with the sliced chashu and flavorful broth brought happiness to my taste buds. Sprinkling vinegar on the noodles intensified the acidity and umami, making the simple tsukemen even more delicious. Adding a touch of shichimi pepper also enhanced the flavor. Despite feeling that the toppings were lacking, I savored the delicious tsukemen at Monjiro. Towards the end, adding yuzu seasoning to the broth provided a refreshing and clean finish. I finished the simple tsukemen at "Monjiro" while gradually changing the flavor. Although I wished for a bit more noodles, I still felt satisfied. By the time I left, the restaurant was packed with customers. At the popular tsukemen restaurant "Monjiro" in Building No. 2, I would recommend trying additional toppings for a more enjoyable experience.

I visited the izakaya on a lively Thursday evening during Happy Hour. I ordered the flavored egg tsukemen and chashu rice bowl. The tsukemen had a rich seafood soup, while the chashu in the rice bowl was a bit dry. You can order extra hot stones for free, reheat the soup, and even order egg over rice to finish off with a porridge-like dish. I wanted to try the egg porridge next time...

I visited a highly rated tsukemen restaurant with a Tabelog rating of 3.59 located in B2 of Osaka Station Building No. 2 for dinner. The restaurant only has counter seating, and you purchase your meal ticket at the entrance. Feeling hungry, I ordered the "A set" for 1,300 yen. You can get a free upgrade from 200g to 300g of noodles. The thick noodles took a bit longer to prepare, about 10 minutes. The set included tsukemen, 3 water dumplings, and rice. I recommend adding the chopped green onions, as it's free. The noodles were thick like Inaniwa udon, but not as chewy as they look. The soup had a slightly sweet flavor with a base of seafood and pork bone, similar to "Misawa" in Fukushima. I easily finished the 300g portion and thought I should have gotten the extra-large. The small water dumplings were served with chili oil and vinegar sauce, complementing the soup well. After finishing the noodles, I ordered the hot stone (actually made of iron, very heavy) to pour some soup and rice in for a delicious hot porridge. Adding yuzu seasoning to the mix created a refreshing Japanese flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying dining experience.

I came to a tsukemen restaurant in Osaka Building 2. I came at night, but there was no crowd and I could enter. It was counter seating only, and about half of the customers were women. I tried the Special Tsukemen (300g for 1150 yen). I felt that they had put a lot of effort into the noodles. The noodles were smooth and easy to eat, with a good chewy texture. The noodles were so easy to eat that even with 300g, they went down smoothly. The dipping sauce was light with a seafood base, and I thought the taste didn't change even when it cooled down. The toppings included bamboo shoots, chashu, and a half-boiled egg. I think the half-boiled egg was good. It wasn't a heavy seafood flavor, so personally, I liked it. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived before 9:00 PM and was able to get a table right away during the transition of customers. The food also came out quickly! The broth had a delicious bonito flavor. The location was convenient, close to the station. Thank you for the meal!

Umeda Monjiro Umeda 2nd Building Store Special Tsukemen 1150 There are probably many delicious and affordable restaurants in the 1st to 4th buildings, but I have no idea where they are and I'm not confident that I can find them without getting lost. I ended up just going to the one with no line. The tsukemen had the typical thick noodles and thick dipping sauce with fish powder. I wasn't sure what to order so I went with the 200g option, which turned out to be very little and felt more like a tasting portion (later discovered that there was a free noodle upsize option on the ticket machine). It wasn't particularly good or bad, just your average tsukemen. #Umeda lunch #tsukemen #typical dish

This is a standard dried fish-based dipping noodle shop. The dipping sauce has a nice balance of sweetness and umami, with no flaws. As you drink it as soup, a hint of spiciness comes at the end, adding an accent. The noodles are not too thick or thin, just right for dipping noodles. The chashu in the dipping sauce is tender and falls apart easily. They also provide chopped onions as a service, which changes the texture and makes it even more enjoyable. Highly recommended. If you're looking for a standard dipping noodle experience, this place is perfect.

Spicy tsukemen with seasoned egg. I visited Menjirou for the first time in 10 years. It's a popular tsukemen shop, but they also serve ramen. I hadn't been able to go since returning to Kansai, but finally made it. I visited around 12:30 on a weekday and had to wait for 2 people. I bought a meal ticket and joined the line. - Spicy tsukemen 1130 yen - Large serving (300g) free. The interior has only counter seats and the turnover is fast. They also offer hot servings, and many customers order it. They also provide hot stones to prevent the soup from getting cold. The spicy tsukemen is not as spicy as it looks. The smooth noodles are delicious when mixed with the soup. I also got free chopped green onions, which made my blood flow smoother. The chashu is tasty but a bit small in portion. I finished the 300g serving easily and thought a larger portion would be better. 23 years, 92nd bowl.

I went to Monjiro located on B2F of Osaka Dai 2 Building. There are various shops, but I decided to try the tsukemen, which was my original purpose. I ordered the Special Tsukemen for 1150 yen. The noodles were delicious! The soup had a good flavor with the fish powder. The portion size was also quite satisfying.

- Overall: Personally, it wasn't my favorite tsukemen, but it was a decently tasty tsukemen shop.
- Taste: I ordered the special tsukemen. The soup with fish powder was the highlight, but for me, it was more of a sweet and spicy soup rather than a rich seafood tsukemen. It was still delicious though.
- Service: In a good way, it was just average.
- Atmosphere: The tsukemen shop is located inside a building near the station, and the interior was relatively clean.
- Value for money: The special tsukemen costs 1150 yen for 300g. Normal serving is 200g, and the large serving of 300g is free, which is nice. However, personally, I found 300g of tsukemen to be a bit lacking.
- Drink: I didn't order any, so I'm not sure.

It had been a while since my last visit. I went on a weekday at 12 pm and there was no wait. I managed to get the last seat at the counter. I ordered the tsukemen using the food ticket machine. It was a hot day, so I decided to order the spicy option because I was craving something spicy. I was able to customize the flavor, so I added extra spicy sauce. Spicy food always tastes better on a hot day.

Located in the basement of Osaka Station Building No.2! Sometimes you just crave tsukemen, right? Ordered the "Special Tsukemen" for ¥1150 and "Steamed Rice" for ¥200! Toppings like onions and a hot stone for when the soup cools down are lined up, making it a true tsukemen experience. It was delicious and I devoured it all! Thank you for the meal! However, I feel that the excitement I had when tsukemen first became popular is starting to fade, as I now know what to expect when I have it. It might be important to have toppings like char siu warmed up, or subtle recommendations from the staff. Well, I'm not here for fine dining, so I won't nitpick.

I visited around 2 PM on a regular day, with about 3 other customers already there. I ordered the special dipping noodles (1,050 yen) with a free large serving (300g). The fish and pork bone broth with a slightly spicy kick paired well with the thick noodles. You can also get finely chopped onions for an extra crunch at no additional cost. I enjoyed the soup even when I added more broth to it.

【Revisit】It's been a while since I last visited Monjirou. I was torn between the spicy tsukemen and the regular ramen, but this time I went with the regular one. Since it was late, I wanted something simple to eat. Many shops were already closed, so I was relieved to find this one open. I asked for onion toppings, which I think they had before? I had forgotten, but I requested it anyway. The beer came in a can. Psshh! Ah... It felt like I was at home (although I don't drink beer at home). The soup had a nice fish powder flavor. I added onions and shichimi halfway through to change the taste. Late night calls for the regular ramen. Thank you for the meal!

I arrived at the restaurant before 3 pm on Tuesday. There was only one customer, so I bought a ticket from the machine and then sat down. This time, I ordered the A set which includes tsukemen, rice, and water dumplings for 1,300 yen. The price was neither high nor low. I chose to have the tsukemen served hot. You need to verbally request it to be served hot. The tsukemen had a rich soup made from dried sardines and pork bones, which was delicious. The spicy water dumplings were also tasty! Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, I went on a ramen dipping noodles tour, which started about 15 years ago when I tried the thick, soft noodles at "Tsukemen Ginshiro" in Grande Duo Kamata (※now closed) and found them exceptionally delicious like mochi. Since then, I have been hooked on tsukemen noodles and recently discovered "Tsukemen Monshiro" by chance on the 2nd basement floor of Umeda 2nd Building. The noodles looked thick and appetizing in the sample, so I visited in December last year and returned for the second time today! I entered around 1:40 PM and luckily there were no other customers, so I took some photos inside the store! Payment is made in advance using a ticket machine. In addition to tsukemen noodles, they also offer rice dishes and water dumplings, of course! I ordered the same as last time: ◎ Special Tsukemen - 1,050 yen ◎ Egg Rice Bowl - 280 yen. The noodles themselves, as you can see in the photos, are thick and chewy like mochi, which take a while to cook, but thankfully were served in less than 5 minutes from ordering! The soup, made from seafood, was delicious, but quite rich in flavor, so adding some soup broth really brings out the true deliciousness! They also have a spicy version of the dipping noodles for those who enjoy spicy food. Thank you for the meal.

I suddenly felt like eating tsukemen, so I visited this place. I quickly ordered the special tsukemen (¥1050) from the ticket machine and sat down. It took about 10 minutes for the thick noodles to arrive! Normally, I go for the simple tsukemen, but this time I decided to try the "special" one, which was filled with lots of toppings, making me feel happy. The large serving (300g) was free, so next time I might go for the regular size (200g) if I choose the simple tsukemen. It's nice to have thick noodles when you're in the mood for it! I also appreciated the fact that they had grilled stones. Maybe next time I'll ask for it to be served hot. Or I might just want to enjoy the special toppings with a beer. I really like this kind of chashu!

I ordered the Umakara Ramen (930 yen). When I took a sip of the soup, I could really taste the seafood flavor. The spiciness wasn't too strong, maybe around medium spicy. The noodles were thick and deliciously smooth. It's supposed to be a double soup of pork bone and seafood, but I didn't really taste the pork bone. Thank you for the meal.
