Winter Break Visit in December 2021 - First visit
This restaurant specializes in Neapolitan pizza baked in a blue wood-fired oven imported from Naples, as well as rustic Southern Italian home cooking focusing on seafood and vegetables. The name of the restaurant means "old boat" in Italian.
I arrived around noon, but was told they were fully booked until after 1:00 PM. When I asked to make a reservation for after 1:00 PM, I was informed that they do not take reservations at that time. As I was about to leave, the staff came after me outside and kindly accommodated my request for a reservation. Thank you very much!
After relaxing in a nearby park and experiencing a strange moment of being surrounded by a large number of pigeons that suddenly disappeared, I returned to the restaurant at 1:15 PM.
Lunch Set: ¥1980
- Assorted 7 appetizers
- Gamberi +¥300
- Espresso
Total: ¥2280
The appetizers included salad, pate, Italian-style char siu, mashed potatoes, and bread with various toppings. The pumpkin soaked in oil was particularly delicious and seemed like a perfect match for wine.
The Gamberi pizza had toppings of tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, sakura shrimp, bird's eye chili, and parsley. I've recently been enjoying cutting the crust of the pizza (known as "cornicione") and eating it separately. The cornicione here was soft and flavorful, and the sakura shrimp on the pizza was incredibly tasty. The buffalo mozzarella and tomato sauce had depth and the flavors intensified as I savored each bite.
Halfway through the pizza, I separated the cornicione and the inner part, then rolled them separately. The softness of the cornicione enhanced the flavor of the shrimp, making it extremely delicious. The last two slices were drizzled with spicy oil placed on the counter, and it was definitely worth the one-hour wait.
I am grateful for the restaurant's kindness, and I will make sure to make a reservation next time.
