This day, we both had plans the next day so it was a one-shot deal! And it was a day when we couldn't drink like idiots. I had been wanting to go to a certain restaurant, and luckily it was available, so I made a reservation the day before. It's called "Tamaki" and it's a pretty nice place where you can pair courses with sake for under 5000 yen. The menu seems to change every month! This month's menu started with an appetizer of jade eggplant and pike conger (paired with Sugi Masaru). The pike conger was refreshing and delicious, paired well with the sake. Next was a sashimi platter with horse mackerel, bonito, and golden eye snapper. The sashimi was slightly moist and tasty. The sake from Akita prefecture was smooth and easy to drink. Then came the miso-grilled sweetfish with liver on the side, paired with a sake called Uzura. The sweetfish was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The lotus root dumpling with sea urchin was a bit dry, but the sea urchin and sweet bean paste complemented each other well. We enjoyed the meal with hot sake. Lastly, we had boiled eel (paired with Shigemaru from Akita prefecture). The eel was cooked perfectly and delicious. We also added a portion of half-length noodles, which was quite filling. The restaurant focuses on pairing sake with the dishes, and the selection of sake was mostly from Akita prefecture. The price was reasonable, and the satisfaction level was high. I initially rated it 3.9, but considering the overall experience, I would give it a solid 4.0. I may not be able to go every month, but I would definitely consider visiting seasonally.

The August sake and appetizer set includes: - Appetizer: Figs, duck breast, and eel with sesame vinegar - Sake: Shiga Prefecture, Biwa's Longevity - Sashimi: Pacific saury, sea bream, and golden-eye snapper - Sake: Niigata Prefecture, Ayu Masamune - Grilled dish: Grilled ayu with roe, served with garnishes - Sake: Gunma Prefecture, Oozara - Fried dish: Shrimp and buckwheat tempura - Sake: Tochigi Prefecture, Higashi Rikishi - Hot pot: Conger eel and matsutake mushroom sukiyaki - Sake: Shiga Prefecture, Dojou Summer's Remnants The dishes this month are a delightful mix of flavors that can be enjoyed with both eyes and taste buds. The grilled dish of grilled ayu with roe is flavorful and tender, with no need to leave any part uneaten! The hot pot this month features the autumn flavors of matsutake mushrooms and the rare addition of conger eel for sukiyaki. The light and savory broth pairs perfectly with the ingredients, making it a dish that can be enjoyed endlessly. For an additional charge, you can add two servings of udon noodles at the end of the meal, which are delicious when dipped in the sukiyaki broth. Overall, another satisfying meal at Tamanki, thanks for the wonderful experience!

You can enjoy a monthly course meal using seasonal ingredients paired with sake at Tamanki. The August sake appetizer set includes: - Appetizer: Scallop and shrimp umami jelly sake from Fukui Prefecture, Bon - Sashimi: Golden eye snapper, Akou, conger eel sake from Iwate Prefecture, Asa Kai - Grilled dish: White fish and corn grill with accompaniment sake from Oita Prefecture, Ichinoi De - Simmered dish: Soft-shell turtle chawanmushi sake from Nara Prefecture, Shinomine - Hot pot: Soft-shell turtle hot pot sake from Toyama Prefecture, Owarla Musume The chawanmushi is said to be the most delicious one ever tasted, with a rich broth overflowing in the mouth. The soft-shell turtle in the hot pot has a good chewy texture, and the collagen-rich meat comes off the bones easily. The concentrated flavor of the turtle in the broth is also delicious. Finally, finishing with a rice porridge full of turtle essence is expected to result in smooth skin the next morning. Thank you for the feast.

I visited right at 11:30. It's a small izakaya at the back of a row house, I think. The interior has a counter, 4 tables for 4 people, and 2 seats. I was the first one there, but it quickly filled up. It seems like they mostly offer daily lunch sets for around 850 yen. It's quite cheap. I'll have to come back at night next time.

Good evening. I am a salaryman from Minato-ku. I often hear news about earthquakes and floods occurring in countries like Libya and Morocco, which have little connection to Japan. Unusual weather patterns seem to be continuing not only in Japan but also in these countries. When I visited Osaka last month, I found this restaurant in Shinsaibashi and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was reminiscent of a traditional Japanese snack bar. I ordered the monthly course set which included a selection of sake. To my surprise, it cost 4780 yen! The course included the following dishes, each served with a small glass of sake: Appetizer: Shrimp simmered in broth Sashimi: Conger eel, goldeneye snapper, and mackerel Grilled dish: White fish and corn Steamed dish: Softshell turtle chawanmushi Hot pot: Softshell turtle hot pot I also ordered a rice porridge as an extra. The shrimp appetizer was excellent, with the simmered shrimp and broth jelly complementing each other perfectly. Each sake was carefully selected to match the corresponding dish. The sashimi was delicious, and the grilled dish was presented artistically on the plate, reminiscent of French cuisine. I was surprised to find softshell turtle as the main dish for the hot pot, but it turned out to be quite tasty. Of course, I also ordered the rice porridge, which left me very satisfied with the rich flavor of the softshell turtle. If I have the chance to visit Osaka again, I would love to come back to this restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

At Tanmanki, you can enjoy a monthly course meal featuring seasonal ingredients paired with sake. The July sake and appetizer set includes: 1. Iwagaki oyster with Awa from Toyama Prefecture, 2. Sashimi with bonito, Ishigaki sea bream, and conger eel with Sawanoizumi from Miyagi Prefecture, 3. Grilled dish with conger eel and scallop roll and Bibibi from Kagawa Prefecture, 4. Simmered dish with white fish and okra in Obasute Masamune from Nagano Prefecture, and 5. Whale hot pot with Shirataka from Hyogo Prefecture. The hot pot features whale meat, whale blubber, and whale red meat for a delicious shabu-shabu experience. For an additional charge, you can add Chinese noodles to finish off the meal. The broth infused with whale essence is particularly tasty. In addition to a toast with bottled beer, we also enjoyed the summer limited edition Otokoyama Junmai Ginjo Shinsei Naru from Shimane Prefecture. This month's menu at Tanmanki features rock oysters, conger eel, and sweetfish for a taste of summer. Next month, they will be serving my favorite softshell turtle hot pot. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Company neighborhood lunch exploration series. Just a few days after eating a hamburger at Nat's cafeteria in Minamisenba, a few of us visited a restaurant that caught our eye in the same building for the first time. If there is no information available on the first visit, this is what you should order. ● Daily Special Set Meal 850 yen Upon entering the restaurant, I first confirmed if there was a daily special. The board at the storefront listed Chicken Cutlet Curry Ankake and Saury Soy Sauce Grilled, so I ordered the Chicken Cutlet Curry. But it was my fault for not paying close attention to the menu with pictures. I mistakenly thought there were two options available. The daily special actually consists of both dishes in a hexagonal bento box, each section separated. In the center, there was a soft-boiled egg, surrounded by Chicken Cutlet Curry Ankake, Saury Soy Sauce Grilled, Chicken Balls, and side dishes, along with rice and miso soup, all for 850 yen. I had thought it was just the Chicken Cutlet Curry, but it turned out that the curry-flavored sauce was poured over the chicken cutlet. The Saury Soy Sauce Grilled naturally went well with the rice, and the other main dish, Chicken Cutlet Curry, had a mild spiciness that made it easy to eat. The addition of Chicken Balls was also nice. There were also other options like the Specialty Oyakodon and Katsuotoro Don for 750 yen, but most customers went for the daily special, which sold out quickly. In reality, with a variety of contents, I think this daily special is a great find. Delicious, not overly fancy in terms of portion size. This restaurant seems pretty good too. This building is a gem. And isn't it a bit amazing? Also, what caught my attention was that this place is an izakaya at night. When settling the bill, they gave me a card. If you present this card at night, they will stamp it. And the next lunch will be free! In July, there is a "Sake and Appetizer Set" menu for 4,780 yen next to the lunch board menu. Hmm, that sounds interesting. This place is intriguing. On that day, my former boss who ate with me went back to this restaurant alone afterwards. Yes, the right choice.

I've always wanted to go to this restaurant. It felt a bit intimidating for some reason. Maybe because it was located in a mixed-use building? Today is my junior colleague's birthday, whom I always rely on. I asked what they wanted to eat, and they said either Korean food or fish. We decided on fish because we wanted to share different dishes together. So, we finally went to "Tamaki," the restaurant I've been wanting to try. Sorry, junior colleague, let's overcome this hurdle together! We opted for the course menu in the evening, where each dish comes with a type of sake. The first dish was fresh oysters, followed by sashimi platter with red snapper, sea bream, and conger eel. The flavors were amazing! We also had a delicious dish with okra and grated yam, and then whale hot pot to finish. Everything paired perfectly with the sake, especially the White Hawk brand. The meal ended with half-size noodles, and it was a delightful experience. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was great. I definitely want to go back next time for more sake and tasty dishes. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

At "Tamanki," you can enjoy a course meal paired with sake that complements the dishes at a reasonable price. The restaurant has 6 counter seats and 2 tables for 4 people each. When sitting at the counter, you can enjoy your meal while watching the TV in front of you. This time, I visited with 3 of my junior colleagues, so we sat at a table. We started with a sudachi shochu highball before the meal. The course is priced at 4780 yen, and without the sake pairing, it is 4280 yen. The June appetizer set includes jade eggplant and conger eel sake from Kyoto, hirame, bream, and bonito sashimi with Asa Hiraku sake from Iwate, grilled ayu fish with tade miso and Karasu sake from Kumamoto, shrimp lotus root dumplings with sea urchin sake from Akita, and conger eel shabu-shabu with Hanmasu sake from Fukuoka. The appetizer and sashimi are served with cold sake in wine glasses, while the grilled dish, simmered dish, and hot pot are served with hot sake. The dishes feature seasonal ingredients like conger eel and ayu fish, and my junior colleagues also enjoyed the meal. It was delicious as always. Thank you for the feast.

At Tanmanki, you can enjoy a course meal with sake that is matched to the dishes at a reasonable price. The May sake and appetizer set starts at 4780 yen (4280 yen without sake). The course includes various dishes such as a starter with conger eel and new onion sauce paired with sake from Aichi, sashimi with rockfish, bonito, and golden eye snapper paired with sake from Iwate, grilled white fish wrapped in asparagus paired with sake from Toyama, simmered new potato dumplings paired with sake from Kyoto, and a hotpot with golden eye snapper shabu-shabu paired with sake from Fukui. The dishes are carefully prepared to complement the sake, making the dining experience enjoyable. It is recommended to visit earlier in the week if you want to take your time and enjoy the meal, as the restaurant tends to get busier on Fridays and Saturdays with multiple rotations. We visited as a group of four, and the portion of cold noodles was just right for half the group. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I visited the restaurant at 11:35 for lunch. It is located at the back of the building. I was guided to the counter. It quickly became full of customers. It seems to be popular. I had the daily special set meal which included chicken tempura with leek sauce and grilled mackerel with salt. There were various side dishes like boiled vegetables. The meatballs were disappointing as they were cold and the sauce was too thick. I don't like cold minced meat so I struggled to eat it. Everyone else also had the daily special set meal. Rice and miso soup were refillable. I didn't get a refill as I was already full. The rice was freshly cooked and the miso soup was full of ingredients. Payment was cash only. When you order the sake appetizer set for dinner, you receive a lunch present ticket.

This place not only has delicious food but also offers great value for money. The course menu changes monthly, with the main dish for May being a sea bream hot pot. The sea bream sashimi was also delicious. Both the side dishes and the hot pot were tasty, so it might be nice to enjoy this place once a month! 😊

I visited for lunch and had the chicken cutlet curry and the daily special of hokke fish. As mentioned in other reviews, the portion size was large. I think it's best to visit when you're hungry. The service was also good, so I plan to come back for dinner next time and have some sake.

"Tamaki" offers a course where you can enjoy Japanese sake that pairs well with the dishes at a reasonable price. This month, I joined with 4 drinking buddies, including our leader senpai. We started with a toast with bottled beer before the meal. The March sake and appetizer set costs 4,780 yen (tax included), and without alcohol, it is 4,280 yen. The course includes: - Appetizer: Yomogi sesame tofu with ikura sake from Oita Prefecture, Senbazuru - Sashimi: Tai, katsuo, sawara sake from Hyogo Prefecture, Shirataka - Grilled dish: Kinmedai with uni, served with ashirai sake from Yamagata Prefecture, Kamo River - Fried dish: Scallop, shrimp, nanohana tofu pouch tempura served with yukinoshitake sake from Akita Prefecture, Yuki no Chaya - Hot pot: Anago shabu-shabu served with Senno Rikyu sake from Osaka Prefecture For an additional fee, you can enjoy half a portion of handa somen as a finishing touch. Shabu-shabu the anago in the broth, and the flesh expands like a blossoming flower, resembling conger eel. It has a similar taste to conger eel but with more richness and deep sweetness. The yuzu pepper condiment adds a nice accent, and the broth is delicious. It was another delicious meal this month. Thank you for the feast.

Had lunch in Shinsaibashi. Visited this restaurant, where I have used as an izakaya a few times in the past. It was my first time visiting for lunch. Ordered the daily special set meal. The set meal came in a hexagonal bento box with various dishes including meat, fish, and side dishes. The main dishes of the day were deep-fried pork with perilla leaves and grilled mackerel. Overall, the taste was homely and comforting. Miso soup was included, all for just 850 yen. I heard they recently raised the prices a bit. In this day and age, it's rare to find a set meal with this many items at this price. Thank you for the meal.

It's been about 6-7 years since I last visited Tamanki. I heard from a former colleague that the lunch here is very popular, just like it was before. Although it wasn't as crowded as it used to be, the narrow restaurant was still packed even at 12:40. Luckily, I managed to find a seat at the counter. The daily special set meal included sasami shiso cutlet and grilled salted salmon for 820 yen. It came with sides such as onsen tamago, simmered greens, simmered small potatoes and buri, thick-fried tofu with minced chicken sauce, and simmered wakame, among others. The miso soup with plenty of cabbage and wakame was a bit too salty due to being cooked for a long time, but the small potatoes were soft and delicious. The broth was quite dark, indicating that they may prepare a large pot for the night as well. The greens were probably komatsuna, lightly seasoned with a good texture. The scrambled eggs were soft and mixed in, and the slightly overcooked grilled salmon was served with a chilled onsen tamago. It tasted good today because it was warm. The octagonal plate was unique, making the meal look more luxurious and auspicious, just like the restaurant's name. The taste of the sides was good, with a not too strong seasoning. The sasami shiso cutlet was normal, and the grilled salmon was slightly overcooked, but having a variety of sides was enjoyable. Nowadays, there are a few places like this, offering a lot of side dishes for lunch. Moreover, the daily special set meal here is 10-15% cheaper than other similar places in the city. I think there has been an increase in 900-1000 yen lunches in Osaka, so this effort by the restaurant is a strong support for salarymen. At night, it seems to be a casual, Osaka-style izakaya loved by carefree middle-aged men. By the way, the lunch options in this building start from around 670 yen, offering a wide variety at reasonable prices. There are probably many salarymen who come here for lunch almost every day. Among them, Tamanki is the most popular spot.

This restaurant is amazing! The fact that they have been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog speaks volumes. It's a shame that smoking is allowed, though. And don't worry too much about the service. The course meal for 4500 yen with sake included is unbelievably cheap for what you get. I highly recommend the clam hot pot course with sake (4 cups). The appetizer, sashimi platter, and the abundance of delicious vegetables underneath are a pleasant surprise. The sesame-coated shrimp is a bit strong in flavor, but it looks great. And the amount of vegetables, clams, and mushrooms in the hot pot is just divine. The broth is incredibly delicious, and the combination of clams and mushrooms is outstanding. I haven't had a clam hot pot this good before. It's seriously amazing, and for only 4500 yen with drinks included, it's unbelievable. I also had a couple of glasses of barley shochu on the rocks, and it was great! The photos I took make the hot pot look even more divine with the light shining on it. I had such a great experience that I ended up going to another restaurant afterwards. I truly had an amazing dining experience here! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Kappo Tamanuki offers a course menu with sake that pairs well with the dishes at a reasonable price. We started with a Sudachi Shochu Highball for the toast. The menu included: Mackerel with Nanshunji steamed sake from Hiroshima, Seasonal sashimi with two kinds of fish and sake from Akita, Ankou with sansho pepper and sake from Iwate, Shrimp and taro dumplings with sake from Kyoto, and Shellfish shabu shabu hot pot with sake from Nagasaki. It was my first time trying a shellfish hot pot at Tamanuki. Instead of oysters, it included scallops, mussels, ark shells, and surf clams to be shabu-shabu in the pot with large clams already inside. The broth was delicious and everyone enjoyed drinking it as well. We also ordered extra somen noodles to finish the meal. The thin, smooth noodles with the tasty broth were a refreshing end to the meal. I have become a fan of shellfish hot pot and look forward to trying the conger eel hot pot next month. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
