I went to Yamada, which I found on Google Maps this time, because I liked the hand-made Sato I found on Google Maps last time. The name Yamada in Hakodate, my favorite city in Hokkaido, lured me in. The shop is located in a residential area. It has more of a cafe feel than a soba restaurant. The interior is clean and spacious, with jazz playing in the background. I ordered the Omori set for 600 yen. Unfortunately, the soba was disappointing - lacking in both firmness and aroma. The broth also lacked depth of flavor. I wish the soba had been rinsed in cold water to firm it up more. The amount of broth and condiments was also lacking. They are trying hard with the portion size and price, but I wish they would put more effort into the taste. This is just my evaluation as a soba restaurant, so I cannot comment on the cafe aspect.

While walking along Kitano Street, I started feeling hungry and remembered this place nearby. I visited at 2:30 PM and there were no other customers. The interior had a pleasant jazz music playing at a comfortable volume. I ordered the "Hiyashi Nuki" soba for 700 yen, which was served in just 11 minutes. The soba was topped with plenty of tempura crumbs, shredded cucumber, crab-flavored kamaboko, grated daikon radish, and garnished with chopped green onions and wasabi. The soba broth had a strong dashi flavor and a slight spiciness. The soba itself had a mild aroma and flavor, but had a smooth texture and was delicious. The tempura crumbs added a crispy texture and were tasty. The soba water was served a little later, clear and smooth, with a mild soba flavor. The curry nanban looked tempting, so I plan to try it next time. Thank you, Yamada-san, for the meal!

A general residential renovation store turned into a cafe. As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by the aroma of coffee. Jazz music playing from a nostalgic CD player further reinforces the cafe ambiance. The owner, who exudes a calm demeanor, brings water and a menu to your table. The menu showcases soba noodles on the top and coffee options on the bottom, making it clear that this is indeed a "Soba Cafe." I ordered the "Mori Soba" for 500 yen, and as I enjoyed the traditional More Soba noodles served in a rectangular sieve, I couldn't help but feel like I was in a cafe. The soft, brown soba noodles paired perfectly with the flavorful broth, creating a classic and comforting soba experience. The retro atmosphere and the gentle service made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The regular customers, including families and elderly gentlemen, all seemed to be savoring the peaceful ambiance of the cafe. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

This restaurant was not showing up in search results, but I was curious about it so I decided to visit on my day off. When I arrived, I saw the curtain was up and there were already three customers inside. The interior was stylish, with jazz music playing and cute decorations. The menu didn't have rice dishes, so I ordered the large portion of soba noodles while my wife ordered the cold soba noodles. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The food was served in about 10 minutes, and the large portion of soba noodles was actually enough for two people. The noodles were firm and had a good texture. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the soba dipping sauce, but overall I was satisfied with the meal. After eating, I ordered an iced coffee and enjoyed the lingering atmosphere. Yamada-san is a hidden gem tucked away from the main street, where you can relax and enjoy soba noodles and coffee. Thank you for the meal.

Soba restaurant located in a residential area in Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo City. The exterior has a simple and homey feel, with a mix of traditional and stylish decorations inside. The menu offers a small selection of soba dishes, along with two types of coffee brewed using a hand drip method. Reviews suggest that the restaurant used to be a regular soba shop before transitioning to a soba & cafe concept. The "Mori Soba" priced at 500 yen is considered cost-effective, with slightly warm soba noodles that have a gentle chewiness. The broth is savory and modern, with delicate condiments adding to the overall flavor. The restaurant doesn't offer rice dishes, focusing solely on soba and coffee. While it may not be a destination restaurant, it could be a convenient spot for a satisfying soba meal followed by a relaxing coffee in a simple and cozy atmosphere.

On a certain weekday, I had lunch at a restaurant in Toyohira-ku, Tsukisamu Higashi, which I learned about from a respected reviewer's review. It is a place that serves soba and coffee and is located in a place I don't usually pass by. There seems to be a parking lot in front of the store for about four cars. The restaurant, with a house-like appearance, has table seats that look like an old-fashioned public dining hall, and a tatami-raised seating area. As I glanced to the left, I noticed a slightly Western-style counter seat. Jazz music with a calm atmosphere is playing loudly in the background. On this day, as I couldn't find any rice set on the menu, I decided to go for something that would look good in photos, so I ordered the "Cold Zaru Soba (750 yen)" and, since I was there, I also ordered a "Strong Coffee (Set 250 yen)" for after the meal. Let's take a bite... The soba noodles were a light gray color close to white, with a moderate firmness and a slight flavor. The dipping sauce seemed to be on the lighter side, suitable for zaru soba, with a gentle taste of soy sauce, fish, sweetness, all together creating a mellow flavor with a hint of acidity that can be poured generously and eaten heartily, and it was the type of sauce that could be easily finished till the end. The toppings included cucumber, kamaboko (fish cake), grated daikon radish, tenkasu (tempura scraps), and green onions, and I also received a milky white soba water. Next, the strong coffee was prepared using hand drip (probably paper)... Huh? I heard a boiling sound from the kitchen at the end... Oh! They didn't ask about sugar or milk for the coffee, so they must have known everything, right? Well then... Hmm, the temperature after completion and boiling once is better than being lukewarm. In terms of flavor, it is indeed strong. That's all... I suddenly thought about how difficult it must be to predict the number of customers and the demand for coffee, and how much coffee beans to purchase. I hope they continue to work hard to provide delicious soba and coffee. Thank you for the meal.

▼Location▼ Located on the left side, 250m north of the intersection of Tsukisamu Higashi 2-18 and 3-19 in Kitano-dori. ▼About the Shop▼ This is an established soba restaurant in the residential area of Higashi Tsukisamu, which has recently been renovated to become a more stylish soba & cafe. ▼Menu▼ They offer various cold and hot soba dishes, as well as coffee. ▼Food Consumed▼ ▽Mori Soba 500 yen▽ (February 2018) The soba noodles were slightly thicker and had a good volume. The noodles were cooked well and had a simple and easy-to-eat taste. The dipping sauce was slightly thick and matched well with the thicker noodles, giving a good and simple taste. ▼Impressions▼ (February 2018) This is a quiet, long-established soba restaurant located in the residential area of Higashi Tsukisamu, slightly north of Kitano-dori. It used to be a simple soba restaurant, but it has been renovated to have a slightly old-fashioned style and now operates as a soba & cafe. I had the Mori Soba, which was simple and had a good taste with slightly thicker noodles that were easy to eat. Although it wasn't exceptional, I thought it was quite good. I had cold soba this time, so I would like to try one of their hot soba dishes next time.

This is a place in Toyohira-ku, in a residential area at Tsukisamu Higashi 3-jo 18-chome. It's difficult to explain, so as always, please check the detailed location on the map on Tabelog. I tried to go to my usual soba restaurant but it was closed, so I searched nearby and found a new place to try for the first time. The restaurant is located in a residential area, not easy to find unless you are familiar with the area. I parked in front of the restaurant and entered. The restaurant is quite spacious. I sat at a table for two and ordered the "kashiwa seiro" while listening to jazz music. It arrived in 8-9 minutes, along with soba-yu. First, I tried the soba noodles plain, which had a slightly rough texture on the surface. Then I dipped it in the kashiwa soup, which had a light seafood broth with a slightly salty soy sauce taste and a mild kashiwa flavor. Lastly, I tried the soba-yu, which was lukewarm as it arrived at the same time as the soba. It was a light soba-yu. Normally, you would mix the leftover kashiwa soup with the soba-yu to heat it up, but unfortunately, I couldn't do that this time.

I visited a soba restaurant located in a residential street in December 2017. There is a parking lot in front of the store. The interior has a cafe-like counter seat, table seat, and a raised seating area. My favorite jazz music was playing, creating a great atmosphere. I ordered the curry nanban, which was served in less than 10 minutes. The soba noodles were medium thickness and the chicken thigh meat was tender. The curry nanban was just to my liking. The distance between the staff and customers was good, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I would like to try the cold soba noodles next time. Thank you for the meal.✿ฺ(๑´ڡ`๑)✿ฺ.

The location is a bit hard to find, it's on a street across from Joy on Kitano Street. The exterior, interior, and kitchen of the restaurant all have a nostalgic feel. It seems to be run by a woman alone, so it must be tough when it gets busy. The inside of the restaurant is surprisingly spacious, but the kitchen is old-fashioned and not very practical. The counter where the soba is served faces outward, which must make it difficult for one person to handle. Today's order was the Morisoba for 500 yen. It's a simple dish, but the soba noodles are surprisingly thick and chewy. The broth is on the richer side, which I personally like. The noodles seem to be designed to go well with both cold and hot dishes. There are vintage amps inside the restaurant and antique furniture at the entrance with flowers on top, creating an interesting atmosphere. Overall, "Soba Restaurant Yamada" was a delightful experience.

Residential street "town soba shop". There was a parking lot diagonally across the street. You could also park in front of the store. The layout of the store is typical of a soba shop, with tables and a raised seating area, and a moderate size. The menu is standard, and I decided to order the "mushroom soba (cold)" for some reason. It was past the lunch rush, so there were no other customers, and a female staff member took my order and prepared the food. The male owner? seemed to have gone to the back with a guitar? for a break? (laughs). After about 10 minutes, the "soba" was brought out, topped with seaweed. The soba noodles were medium thickness. The taste was good, but the aroma and texture were lacking. The dipping sauce was a well-balanced type commonly seen in Hokkaido, emphasizing umami. The grated nameko mushrooms had a strong radish flavor and were freshly grated. Garnishes included green onions, powdered wasabi, and the soba broth was clear. It was a satisfying meal. Mushroom soba (cold) 800 yen

From Sapporo, head south on National Route 36, passing Sapporo Dome and turning left after Nippon Pan's south side, then head east through the residential area for about 1 km to reach the destination. The surrounding area is a complete residential area, giving off a feeling of "why is there a soba restaurant here?" The restaurant itself doesn't have a particularly fancy appearance, more like a casual diner run by an older lady, but the sign does say "handmade." The menu offers around 30 types of soba (udon) and 5 types of donburi, so it's quite varied. I tried the "oroshi soba (600 yen)" this time, which is served in a seiro style, not as a broth. While waiting, you can hear the sound of the lady grating daikon, which really stimulates the appetite. However, the soba itself is a bit thick and lacks some firmness, as if it was boiled a bit too long. It comes with plenty of grated daikon and the slightly sweet dipping sauce pairs well with it. Considering the location, it seems like a neighborhood restaurant where locals can easily drop by.
