I finally had the chance to visit a sushi restaurant in Honcho, Hakodate that I had been wanting to try. The interior had a counter on the left and tables on the right, and as a solo diner, I naturally sat at the counter. I had studied the chef and menu thoroughly on the restaurant's website beforehand, and since the side dish options were limited, I ordered a sushi set right away - the special Utajima set. The price was surprisingly low, making it a great value. I mean, 9 pieces including sea urchin, salmon roe, fatty tuna, crab, abalone, botan shrimp, conger eel, boiled octopus, and white fish for only 3300 yen - that's about half the price of other places. Of course, I also added more sushi. They had unique dishes like abalone liver gunkan and wasabi rolls, which were originally from Shizuoka. They also served homemade salted squid roe with chawanmushi. They had 10 types of sake available that day. I started with the TATEYAMA ginjo sake from Toyama, which was fruity and easy to drink. For the second cup, I tried the bubbly cloudy sake from Okayama, called Winter Bomb. The third cup was the spicy local sake from Akita. I ended the night with the robust Koshino Kagetora junmai sake from Niigata. The delicious sake paired perfectly with the tasty dishes. The chef was also wonderful. The customers were mostly regulars, but they warmly welcomed newcomers. It was a fun and delicious dining experience. I will definitely be back. Thank you for the meal.

I am healed by the friendly smile of the owner. Enjoy a happy moment with fresh fish and the recommended wine from Okushiri by the owner, who is from Okushiri.

Sushi Shimauta is a local favorite sushi restaurant. We made a reservation through Hot Pepper based on Jimopi's recommendation. The course we reserved was 4500 yen. When we arrived, they asked us what we wanted to eat, and we were surprised because we had already ordered. The meal started with a delicious sashimi platter and whale meat, which is unique to Hakodate. The restaurant was full due to the port festival, and the service was a bit rough, possibly due to being overwhelmed. Despite this, the food that came out was all delicious. The white omelette was made from eggs fed with rice, giving it a rich flavor. The large grilled ark shell was a luxurious treat. The sushi, including freshly harvested Okushiri sea urchin, was excellent. We also enjoyed dishes like crab, conger eel, and sushi rolls. We ended up having 5 beers and shochu highballs per person, resulting in a total bill of 49,000 yen for four people, which exceeded our budget significantly. Although the food was delicious, we felt like it was quite different from what we had ordered. For first-time visitors, it's recommended to confirm your order at the beginning.

The result was a fun restaurant♪ Highball, highball, highball... (laughs) I entered around 10:30 pm on Friday night. Surprisingly, there are not many sushi restaurants open at this time. This place is only open at night, no lunch service. The 47-year-old owner from Oshiri and his 26-year-old apprentice. And a part-time worker who went to the same university as my daughter. (laughs) Owner: "How much is the hourly wage for the part-time worker?" Apprentice: "It's 918 yen!" The menu also includes steak. Isn't that strange? The owner said, "We're a bit conscious of being an izakaya too." I ordered sashimi and highballs to start. They also serve my favorite whale bacon for sashimi. It was the best. In Morioka Station, I also felt that the highballs served at restaurants are stronger. Are the ones at home too weak? (laughs) I think I had about 7 highballs that day. At the end, I had a few pieces of sushi. The octopus sashimi was chewy and delicious. I remember having sea urchin and fish roe sushi rolls. The rest? (laughs) I drank too much because the conversation was so enjoyable. I had a slight hangover the next day. The owner and the apprentice were both fun to talk to. This time, the highballs cost 3500 yen and the food was around 6000 yen. So, it was around 5000 yen in total. I think it's a casual place where you can feel comfortable even on your first visit. Thank you for the delicious meal♪ It was a fun time!

I ordered the Nigiri Island Uta for 2500 yen at a restaurant located in a row of shops on Goryokaku Tokeidai Street, after going straight from the Goryokaku intersection towards Goryokaku Tower and turning right at the next traffic light. The toppings included shrimp, tuna, flounder, abalone, crab, scallop, tamagoyaki, sea urchin, salmon roe, and conger eel. The abalone and sea urchin were delicious, and the other toppings were also fresh. The miso soup with Naratake mushrooms served together was in season and very tasty, especially with grated daikon. When I finished paying and left, the staff even saw me off outside the restaurant.
