I come to Hokkaido every year, but it's been about 15 years since I last visited Asahikawa. Finally, I was able to visit the Genghis Khan restaurant that I had been longing for! The food is delicious, generous in portion, and offers great value for money! They have rare cuts of meat, ensuring the ultimate Genghis Khan experience. Even though it was before the Obon holiday and during the summer vacation period, when I arrived at 5:30 PM on a weekday, there were over 20 groups ahead of me. I heard that despite having 100 seats, the restaurant fills up as soon as it opens at 4 PM due to its immense popularity. It has even been featured on a popular gourmet show, which may have made it even more well-known nationwide. There are plenty of waiting seats in front of the restaurant, so as long as the weather and temperature are fine, you can sit and wait comfortably. In the end, I waited for an hour before being seated. Solo diners and groups of two seemed to be seated quickly at the counter, allowing them to enter one after another. I ordered the Number 1 Set (including shoulder loin, shoulder, and fillet), tongue, sirloin, lamb chops, rib loin, and more. We were seated on the second floor in a tatami room with tables and cushions lined up in a large room with partitions. The atmosphere was fantastic. The Number 1 Set, which includes shoulder loin, shoulder, and fillet, costs around 2,574 yen including tax. Ordering them individually costs 770 yen, 759 yen, and 1,045 yen, respectively, so it was surprising that the set wasn't necessarily a better deal. However, the shoulder loin, which is the most popular item, was so delicious with its thickness, tenderness, and rich flavor that I ended up ordering more! The staff members cook the first piece for you and explain the delicious way to cook and eat it, which is great! Despite having many student part-time workers, the service level is high, with quick delivery of drinks and meat even when it's crowded, which is pleasing. I also ordered the rare cuts of meat, tongue and sirloin. The tongue had a crispy texture similar to beef tongue and was extremely delicious, while the sirloin had an interesting taste reminiscent of shirako (milt) but different from grilled pork skewers. These unique cuts made me happy! I continued to order different cuts until I was full. Each portion is usually 3 to 5 pieces. The rib loin mostly consisted of fatty white parts, which would normally be a complaint in regular yakiniku, but when grilled in this case, it was exquisite! I highly recommend trying it. It was difficult to choose the best because everything was so delicious! With the fast service, even though it's a 90-minute time limit, I left full and extremely satisfied. If I have the chance to visit Asahikawa again, I will definitely stop by this restaurant.
