In the charming castle town of Inuyama, there is a lovely tea house that is truly wonderful. It likely attracts many foreign visitors as well. I visited on a weekday, so there weren't many tourists around, but I enjoyed my tea in a relaxed atmosphere. I sat at the counter, and my feet were kept warm, which suggested that the heating was well taken care of—very thoughtful! The restroom is located in a detached area, adding a touch of elegance to the experience. I had coffee, which was very soothing. It’s likely that weekends are bustling with tourists. This place beautifully enhances the castle town.

It was delicious. The Tea Soba Dengaku Set for 1480 yen includes tea soba noodles and seven kinds of dengaku, along with Inuyama tea. The dengaku options are sweet and spicy miso, sansho miso, yuzu miso, pizza-style, konnyaku with sweet and spicy miso, yomogi mochi with vinegar miso, and Domyoji mochi with shiso and plum paste. They were all tasty. The second floor had a beautiful atmosphere that I really enjoyed.

I was seated in the second-floor section due to the number of people, but the atmosphere was nice, and the view from the tatami seating was very pleasant. We ordered two types of dengaku sets and also enjoyed the goldfish bowl dessert. It had a cute appearance and was really great. The taste was good, so I would definitely like to come back.

I enjoyed tasting various craft beers alongside dengaku (grilled skewered tofu) in a stylish yet historical building near Inuyama Castle. The traditional dengaku restaurants in Inuyama have a different vibe, offering a pop-inspired flavor of dengaku in seven different varieties. The textures were also diverse.

This is the second round of street food tasting at Inuyama Castle, and my wife wanted to try some dengaku. So she made the request, and we headed to the chosen restaurant. A very cute staff member, who looked like a local idol, kindly guided us to a table inside, saying, "You can take a break inside even if it’s just one stick." The interior was spacious with a high ceiling, and everything looked new and clean, featuring a small garden in the back. About half of the seats were occupied, all by women. Everyone was busy taking photos with their smartphones and professional cameras. Orders were placed verbally. We decided on tofu dengaku (with sweet and spicy miso) for 120 yen and Dōmyōji namafu (with shiso and plum paste) for 150 yen. We took a moment to sip the cold tea available on the table. The food arrived in about 2 to 3 minutes. My first reaction was, "That's tiny!" but I noticed that the ladies around us were enthusiastically ordering the seven varieties of dengaku, taking photos, and happily sharing them on Instagram. The tofu dengaku had the expected flavor, while the Dōmyōji namafu surprisingly tasted great. My wife enjoyed her meal, so I think this place is really geared towards women.

I had the tea soba dengaku set for 1,480 yen. It included seven varieties of dengaku: tofu with sweet and savory miso, tofu with sansho miso, tofu with yuzu miso, tofu with a pizza twist, konnyaku with sweet and savory miso, yomogi nama-fu with vinegared miso, and Domyoji nama-fu with perilla plum paste. The pricing seemed to reflect the tourist setting, and overall, it felt average in quality.

I visited a restaurant in Inuyama on my way to Inuyama Castle. It's located in Inuyama Castle Town, a short walk from Inuyama Station. It seems that the skewered dengaku is famous here, as there was a long line for takeout. Since it was hot, I chose to sit inside; there was only one group ahead of me, so I was seated quickly. The interior had a charming atmosphere, resembling a renovated traditional town house, with both counter and table seating available. There were set meals, but I ordered a single dish of cold tea soba with dengaku, which also had some gluten. Although it was a mini size, it was light and delicious. The dengaku offered a variety of flavors, which I really enjoyed.

This café is located right in the middle of Inuyama Castle Town and is said to be housed in an old traditional house, allowing you to enjoy your meal in the same atmosphere as the castle town. You can make lunch reservations through Tabelog, which is very convenient. They had prepared a reserved seat for us on the second floor, but considering the age of the child we brought, they kindly guided us to a seat on the first floor instead. Their hospitality was greatly appreciated. As for the menu, it mainly features dengaku (grilled and skewered tofu or eggplant with miso). The basic options include a set with dengaku, rice, and tea; a set with dengaku, soba noodles, and tea; or just a set with dengaku and tea. There are also side options like sweets and Wagashi (Japanese confections). I had the dengaku set, and the dengaku was not only beautifully presented but also very delicious. The tea was served in a cast iron pot, adding to the overall atmosphere.

The signboard mentioned "Trending on social media," indicating a restaurant design focused on photo opportunities, targeting that demographic. Both the interior and exterior blended well with the surrounding atmosphere, renovated for a clean look, which really boosted my mood. However, I had several concerns, leading to a less favorable overall impression. **Points of Concern:** - The glasses for water were cheap and clearly out of place. - The menu design was poor and hard to read. - It seems the recommended items are listed first, but the distinction between them and the regular menu is unclear. The formatting is inconsistent and messy, making it difficult to read. - It would be better if drinks and desserts were grouped by category, but they were scattered throughout the menu making selection difficult. - There was an unpleasant staff member. - (Though we didn’t mind it, if the aim is to appeal on social media) The condensation on the goldfish jelly soda made it look unclear, preventing it from being photogenic. - The waffle cone for the soft serve was damp, lacking crunch. - The peach "smoothie" was just regular peach juice. It seems weekends are overrun with tourists, suggesting a business model focused on new customers rather than repeat visitors. If that’s the case, then perhaps not addressing these issues aligns with their strategy. This is more of a reflection rather than a call for improvement. Thank you for the meal.

This is a very atmospheric shop located in the castle town of Inuyama. The dengaku (grilled tofu with miso) was delicious! It pairs well with beer. I ordered a tasting set! There was a shishi odoshi (bamboo water fountain) in the courtyard, giving it a nice traditional feel. It's popular not only with Japanese people but also with foreigners!

During a weekday lunch, I had a set of seven kinds of dengaku (grilled tofu) and Inuyama tea for 980 yen, choosing hojicha (roasted green tea) as my tea option. I also tried the fluffy snow-like shaved ice in peach flavor for 550 yen. However, it wasn't as fluffy as the kakigori (Japanese shaved ice), resembling the texture of "sulbing." There were ice chunks at the bottom, likely for cooling purposes. The dengaku was small and seemed designed to be photogenic. While the tofu had a nice crispy texture, I would have appreciated more variety in the ingredients.

【Townhouse Café in a Castle Town】I visited for lunch after exploring Inuyama Castle. If you plan to enter the main keep of Inuyama Castle, it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance after checking the crowd. This way, you can enjoy a smooth entry on your way back. It was quite crowded around 1 PM on Saturday. 《Ordered Menu》 ◼︎ Colorful Dengaku Set (1,380 yen including tax) → This set includes seven types of dengaku made from tofu, nama fu (wheat gluten), and konnyaku (konjac). It comes with nozawana rice, miso soup, and a teapot. Each dengaku has a different seasoning, making it enjoyable without becoming monotonous, and they're served in bite-sized pieces that are visually appealing. ◼︎ Goldfish Jelly Soda (550 yen including tax) → Served in a large glass container, this soda features jelly candies shaped like goldfish, resembling a goldfish bowl. It's a refreshing dish perfect for summer and highly recommended. Thank you for the meal!

The dengaku set is incredibly delicious! The sansho miso and the matcha dumpling in particular were so tasty that I wanted to eat more. The mango kakigori (shaved ice) was fluffy and delicious~! It was such a hot day that it really refreshed me. The peach smoothie was tasty, but a little too sweet for my liking. It was so cute that I took some soda jelly home with me. The soda jelly is super delicious~! It's so refreshing. The goldfish jelly has a texture like yokan (sweet bean jelly). This sales idea is pure genius. I think it would sell like hotcakes at a festival.

I had a delicious beer from Inuyama that was rich in flavor! The various tastes of the dengaku (grilled skewers with miso) were also delightful, and I was thrilled to find yomogi (mugwort) soft rice cakes in it! I could choose from two types of Inuyama beer. The beer set with seven varieties of dengaku for 1280 yen (tax included) was a great deal! Since I wanted to stroll around the castle town and taste different foods, a moderate portion size was perfect! In the courtyard, I enjoyed my meal surrounded by blooming hydrangeas and green maple leaves. Thank you for the lovely meal!

The shop is popular for its colorful dengaku and vibrant anko dumplings. Enjoy a moment of relaxation with matcha served in Inuyama-yaki tea bowls, accompanied by seasonal five-color dumplings (¥750) featuring chestnut, strawberry, ramune, matcha, and purple sweet potato flavors. The small anko dumplings are so colorful and adorable that you'll want to take photos. All the flavors were delicious, and the matcha was easy to drink. I visited around 1 PM on a weekday and had to wait about 20 minutes. It seemed like many people were enjoying dengaku for lunch. I’d love to try the dengaku next time!

I enjoyed my last moments in Inuyama by slowly sipping beer while savoring dengaku (grilled skewers with miso) and nazuna rice. The brown rice dumplings were quite good too—delicious! The beer was tasty overall. If you’re a craft beer lover, this place is a must-visit. By the way, my top recommendation is the Blue Demon from India! Here's the breakdown of what I ordered: 7 kinds of dengaku (single item) - 880 yen Nazuna rice (single item) - 380 yen Soy sauce brown rice dumplings - 100 yen Beer tasting set - 1280 yen

I was walking around the area near Inuyama Castle and decided to take a break by stopping at a restaurant I had been interested in from a pamphlet and Instagram. I was glad I went in early because there were already a few customers waiting to be seated. They had a set menu for comparing dengaku (grilled tofu) and local craft beers, which was fantastic for someone who enjoys drinking! The dengaku paired wonderfully with the refreshing local beer, and I thoroughly enjoyed each bite and sip. It was delicious! ⭐︎

While wandering around the Ieyama Castle town and browsing various shops, I wasn't very hungry since I had a late breakfast. I looked for a place to satisfy my small appetite. My wife enjoyed some beautifully presented dengaku, while I had a single stick of gohei-mochi (grilled rice cake) and a refreshing-looking kingyo jelly soda. It was just the right amount and quality for a nice walk.

I tried dengaku for the first time, and there were modern variations that were really tasty and delicious. The dumplings were made from brown rice, which was unique, and the zunda (sweet edamame) paste had just the right amount of sweetness, which I really liked. I would love to visit again if I have the opportunity.

In the garden, there's a cute heart-shaped shishi-odoshi that gives off a retro Showa vibe, and a peaceful television with a medaka fish tank! I also enjoyed some adorable green tea soba, although the noodles were a bit soft for my taste. If you're taking a break while exploring Inuyama Castle town, I highly recommend the delicious strawberry mont blanc!
