This was my first visit. It was past 1 PM on a weekday, and there was one group at the counter. I was shown to a table in the back room. The dim lighting in the restaurant creates a very relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the beef curry for 1,400 yen and a 90g hamburger topping for 350 yen. The salad and three side dishes arrived first, which took about 10 minutes. After that, my curry was served. The curry had a rich flavor and was mild, but a bit of spiciness came through later. Large chunks of tender beef were generously placed on top, having been cooked just right. The hamburger topping was meaty and complemented the curry very well. I felt that the curry alone might have been a bit lacking, but the hamburger added just the right amount of volume. The staff provided excellent service, and the master's kind interactions made the experience very enjoyable. Next time, I would like to try the beef stew and the daily special hamburger. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

I made a reservation at this restaurant, which is listed among Tabelog's top 100 restaurants, and visited for the first time! I arrived at 12 PM and was shown to a private room in the back. The table was a sunken kotatsu style, and the spacious seating allowed me to enjoy my meal leisurely. I ordered the 'Beef Curry,' which seems to be their most popular dish! The drinks were only ¥200, so I decided to have a hot coffee after my meal. The salad came first, and after a while, the curry was served. Oh wow! The gentle flavor of the European-style curry and the tender meat just melted in my mouth (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵). I really enjoyed it! After the hot coffee, I found the atmosphere so comfortable that I ended up staying longer than intended (・・;). Since it appears to be a popular spot, I recommend making a reservation for sure.

To the ever-reliable and delicious Sion! I topped my beef curry with a 90g hamburger and cheese. - The curry has a sweet flavor typical of European-style curry. - The meat is tender and the hamburger has a strong beef taste, definitely a perfect 100! It’s always the best flavor every time I eat here! The owner is a wonderful person, and it's a place where you can enjoy delicious food comfortably!

I had been wanting to visit this restaurant and added it to my bucket list. It's also one of the hundred famous restaurants! While I thought the beef stew would be great, I decided to go with the curry for my first visit, specifically the beef curry. It was a simple curry without any toppings. The chef was elegant and seemed very kind, welcoming us with a smile. I could see him cooking from behind the counter, and the staff had wonderful smiles, creating a great atmosphere. Before the curry arrived, I was served a salad along with pickled onions, fukujinzuke (Japanese pickles), and some muscat grapes. Soon after, the curry came out. Wow! There was a generous amount of meat in it. The curry wasn’t very spicy but had a deep flavor. It was delicious! I'm not usually a fan of spicy curries, so this simple flavor was truly enjoyable. The meat was so tender! By the time I finished, I was really full – there was quite a lot. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal! Next time, I’ll come to try the beef stew!

I had a regular meeting in Osaka starting from the morning, and after finishing that, I had another meeting in Hyogo in the evening. Since I had some time, I decided to stop by Motomachi for lunch! I walked for about 10 minutes from Motomachi Station to Sion. I arrived just in time around 1:50 PM, with the last order at 2:10 PM! I was shown to an empty counter seat and ordered the beef curry with extra meat, along with iced tea for my drink after the meal. The condiments and a small salad were served immediately. The mini salad had a tangy French dressing. After about 5 minutes, my beef curry arrived! It looked delicious with lots of meat on top. I took a bite right away… so good! I could taste a hint of sweetness along with the deep, rich flavor of the curry. Most of the other ingredients had dissolved into the sauce. The meat was hearty and satisfying. The condiments included grape compote, pickled vegetables, and shallots. As I got lost in eating, I quickly finished it all—laughing at how fast it went down! After the meal, I enjoyed my iced tea, feeling fully re-energized! On my way out, the chef asked if I was full. The staff was friendly, and I definitely want to come back again. It was delicious! Thank you very much!

I visited the restaurant around 11:30 on a weekday and was able to enter without any wait. Jazz music was playing, and the interior had a clean and calm atmosphere, resembling a high-end restaurant rather than a typical curry shop. As someone from Osaka, I was a bit overwhelmed by how stylish the curry shop was in Kobe! I ordered the simple beef curry for 1,400 yen, and I was quickly served a salad and three types of fukujinzuke. The salad dressing was refreshing and slightly spicy – maybe it was some kind of horseradish? Whatever it was, it was delicious, and I was looking forward to the curry. The much-anticipated curry was fruity, with a rich beef aroma and generous chunks of meat. The spiciness was mild, but it was a type of curry that I personally really love! The service was also attentive, and I left feeling very satisfied. I will definitely visit again soon! Thank you for the meal!

The cheese topping was delicious. It’s a restaurant from the Curry Hundred Famous Stores in the Nishimotomachi area. I made a reservation through Tabelog. The texture of the curry was not too runny, and it had a fruity, elegant flavor with just the right amount of spiciness. The meat was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, and there was a condiment that tasted like grapes. It was all very tasty! (*^^*)

Thank you very much for always visiting my posts m(_ _)m If you think it's good, I would be very happy if you could bookmark it by clicking the "Save the store" button m(_ _)m I'm on a journey to visit the top 100 curry restaurants! The 92nd restaurant is Sion, located near Nishimotomachi Station. Sion's address is 5-2-18 Motomachi-dori, Chuo-ku, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, just a 2-minute walk from the Kobe Kosokudoro Line "Nishimotomachi" Station. It opened in 2013, and the chefs have inherited European-style curry from their time at the old Oriental Hotel! It's a selection of the "Curry Top 100" by Tabelog. I arrived at the restaurant before 11:30 AM. Closed on Mondays. Business hours: 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM (LO 2:00 PM), 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (LO 7:30 PM) *No evening service on weekdays. The menu includes Beef Curry, Shrimp Curry, Beef Stew, and Gohan Hamburg (rice hamburger). You can top the beef stew and Gohan Hamburg with curry, which is great! As soon as it was open, I informed them of my reservation and received permission to take photos while I was seated at the counter. The restaurant is completely non-smoking, with 20 seats total (8 at the counter and 3 tables with 4 seats each in a sunken style). The interior has a calm atmosphere. The gentle owner greeted me with a smile, and the staff was also very polite. I ordered the Beef Curry with added meat! The Beef Curry costs 1,400 yen, and the meat addition is an extra 350 yen, making a total of 1,750 yen. First, the salad and side dishes (muscat grapes, pickled vegetables, and pickled shallots) arrived. After a short wait, the curry was served. The meat addition was visually impressive, referred to as "meat-covered"!!! Here we go! The salad consisted of onions and leaf lettuce with dressing! The dressing had a nice acidity, creating a good balance before the curry. The curry sauce had a high viscosity typical of European-style curry! It was sweetened with sautéed onions, chutney, and apples, creating a well-balanced blend of flavors—sweetness, aroma, acidity, and a mild spiciness. The rice was Japanese rice, cooked to a suitable firmness, and paired perfectly with the European-style curry for a classic deliciousness. The side dishes of pickled vegetables and shallots were great as palate cleansers, and the muscat grapes were perfect for dessert after the meal! The beef was tender and had a satisfying amount of fat for a hearty meal. For those who can eat more, I definitely recommend adding more meat. I ate silently, thoroughly enjoying my meal until it was completely finished! After settling the bill, I thanked everyone at Sion as I left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal! It was delicious! I will come again! _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Thank you very much for reading until the end m(_ _)m I hope this provides some useful gourmet information for everyone. I suddenly craved curry, so I searched and found a place I had heard about before, so I decided to go. I arrived right when it opened, and there were already people in line. I ordered the beef curry. Honestly, it was the most delicious curry I've ever eaten.

Saturday at 12:15 PM, I entered without waiting. The beef curry costs 1,400 yen, and the Ranou egg is 120 yen. The curry has a slightly toasted aroma and a rich, deep flavor that clearly reflects the carefully prepared broth. It's truly an authentic European-style curry from a Western-style restaurant. The Ranou egg is firm and has a rich yolk that adds a mild touch to the dish, making you want to try the beef stew as well. The shrimp curry also looks tempting—this place is definitely a strong contender!

I was working in Kobe on this day, and I had really wanted to visit this restaurant. My brother kept saying it had nostalgic curry, so I had been looking for an opportunity to go. I took a short trip two stations away from Sannomiya, and I finally made it there. I can see why my brother was nostalgic—it tastes like something I ate when I was little. I remember being dressed nicely and going out with my parents, and I think that’s when I had this kind of curry. Though my parents are no longer around, I feel like I want to talk with my brother about it next time.

I arrived at the restaurant a little after my 11:30 reservation. There were about 20% of the seats filled, and it was quite a fancy curry shop. I was seated at the front counter and ordered the recommended beef curry with a 90g hamburger topping. Everything arrived in about 12 minutes. The curry sauce wasn't spicy at all, which made it easy to eat, but it was rather unsatisfying and not great. The meat was more chewy than tender, making it hard to eat. The hamburger was just average. The salad was also disappointing, and the grapes were underwhelming as well. I paid 1,650 yen using PayPay and headed back to Umeda.

I visited a curry restaurant in the Nishimotomachi area of Kobe for the first time. I ordered beef curry with a small hamburger as a topping. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The curry was rich in flavor and featured generous chunks of beef, giving it a deep, savory taste. It was clear that a variety of ingredients had been simmered for a long time. The hamburger was also juicy and delicious.

Beef curry 1,300 yen. All dishes come with a mini salad. The sign at the storefront mentioned that this is a restaurant where chefs from the former Oriental Hotel create traditional Kobe Western-style curry and beef stew. When I ordered, I was introduced to toppings like hamburgers, but since it was my first visit, I wanted to try the original menu without any toppings, so I ordered the beef curry. By the way, adding extra meat to the curry costs an additional 350 yen, and upgrading the salad size costs 300 yen. First, I was served a plate with the mini salad and three types of condiments. Looking at the mini salad, I decided I would size up the salad next time. The beef curry that was served contained three large chunks of meat, and when I had the curry, I enjoyed a refined European-style curry. It had been a while since I had such an elegant European curry. The condiments included a small amount of pickled onions, fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables), and grapes, which were quite unusual. Next time, I would like to add extra meat to the beef curry and upgrade the salad size.

I visited on a weekday around 1 PM, and there was only one other customer, so I was able to enter smoothly. I ordered curry with the smaller-sized hamburger as a topping. Among the condiments, there was something that tasted like jam made from boiled grapes; it was very sweet but paired really well with the curry. They offered a large portion as well, but the regular size was more than enough for me. It was delicious.

This restaurant is run by a chef from the Oriental Hotel and specializes in curry and Beef Stew. Kobe has many long-established Western-style restaurants that are quite popular. I visited for a slightly late lunch on the weekend and was seated at the counter. I paid with PayPay. I ordered the Beef Curry for 1,300 yen (including tax), which comes with a mini salad. For an additional 150 yen, I added a lunch drink. The spices and sweetness were well balanced, and the heat from the chili was mild, reminiscent of classic European-style curry. The meat had a nice chew to it. The rice was a bit more than the curry, in terms of balance. The milk for my iced tea was in a small portion, so I had it straight, which was a bit disappointing. I noticed that the couple beside me was enjoying Beef Stew, which also caught my interest. The service was very pleasant!

I visited this restaurant that was recommended by a local while sightseeing in Kobe. It was lunch time, but since I arrived a bit late, I was able to enjoy the spacious tatami room all to myself. The beef curry was delicious, with tender meat and a rich sauce that I easily finished even in a large portion. Alongside it, there were pickled shallots and even grapes, which added a stylish touch. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making my experience as a traveler much appreciated!

Located about a 3.4-minute walk from Hanakuma Station and Nishimoto Station, this restaurant is discreetly situated on the first floor of a building. With a Tabelog rating of 3.61, it's recognized as one of the best curry spots and I visited around 1 PM on a weekday. Although it's a popular place that usually requires a reservation, the time of my visit meant that there were only a few customers. The interior has a bar-like atmosphere with soft lighting, creating a cozy vibe. The friendly owner, who has a caricature of himself on the sign outside, welcomed me warmly. I ordered the "Beef Curry" for 1,300 yen, a "Large" portion for 300 yen, and an "Iced Coffee" for 150 yen. First, a mini salad and three kinds of palate cleansers were served. While typical curry accompaniments include fukujinzuke (pickled vegetable mix) and pickled shallots, I was surprised to see two grapes along with them. The visual presentation of the curry suggested a classic European-style curry, topped with several pieces of large beef. The large portion lived up to its name, offering quite a generous serving. In terms of flavor, the curry is mild, featuring less spiciness and a subtle sweetness from chutney that creates a nice balance. I even wondered if the grapes contributed to the fruity undertone I experienced. The meat seemed to be shoulder meat, with some pieces easily falling apart and others providing a bit of chewiness. Overall, this curry is a textbook example of a crowd-pleasing European-style curry. Personally, I would have preferred it to be a bit spicier, fruitier, or richer in flavor. As I was leaving, the chef and his wife kindly asked, “Did you enjoy your meal?” This gentle interaction added to the feeling that the warmth of their hospitality is what truly makes this place a great restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I visited a famous curry spot for lunch in Motomachi, Kobe, which is known for its historical ties to the former Oriental Hotel. I had high expectations for the hotel-quality meal. After getting off at Motomachi Station, I wandered through the arcade next to Daimaru Department Store, and when I spotted a torii gate toward the sea, I turned towards it, heading for the Hirazumi Shrine. While praying at the shrine, I almost missed the restaurant Shion, which I was looking for. Following some reviews, I decided to order the beef stew and curry set. The staff asked if I wanted to make my order the beef stew with rice topped with curry, and I happily agreed. The beef stew costs ¥2,300, and adding the curry topping is an extra ¥250. I was excited for this greedy lunch after skipping breakfast. Once I looked at the menu again, I noticed they also had a lunchtime special called chilled curry udon available from 1 PM, and there were options for additional rice. I wondered if I should have chosen that instead, but the shrimp curry for ¥2,000 and the hamburger special for ¥1,700 also caught my attention. I normally try to stick to the basics on my first visit, so I saved those options for next time. Soon, my salad arrived, featuring crisp lettuce, thinly sliced onions, and dressing. Then the beef stew and rice with the curry topping came out. The beef stew had large pieces of meat along with broccoli and carrots, beautifully arranged. The demi-glace sauce was rich but not too heavy, making it easy to eat. However, I felt full well into the evening after such a satisfying meal; the combination of meat and vegetables blended well in the delicious sauce. The meat was tender enough to cut with a fork, although the fatty parts were a bit much for my age. The deep flavors of the European-style curry were quite impressive—definitely worthy of being among the hundred famous establishments. I felt that the amount of curry toppings was insufficient, so I will definitely order the curry in a larger size next time. Both dishes were enjoyable, and it was clear why this place is renowned for its curry. Thank you for the meal!

On the first day of the long holiday, I enjoyed a double header of curry in Kobe! This restaurant allows online reservations, so I booked a table and arrived at 6:30 PM. The entrance had a spacious and elegant design, and upon entering, I was welcomed by a calm and dimly lit atmosphere. I was seated at the far end of the long counter, which was reserved for me. The menu had almost two options: beef curry and beef stew. I ordered the beef curry for 1300 yen and added a half-sized hamburger for an extra 350 yen. The curry is what you would call authentic European-style, mild yet rich, with hidden sweetness. It was delicious—almost overwhelming! The 90-gram half hamburger might have been unnecessary, as I found myself wanting to savor the deep and exquisite flavor of the curry. The chef, who hails from the Oriental Hotel, adds a touch of elegance to the curry, making it a dish that lifts your spirits as you eat. The condiments, including pickled vegetables and what seemed like grapes, were also impressively good. I was able to conclude my exploration of the top 100 curry restaurants in the Kobe area in the best possible way.

On the second day of my business trip, I spent the entire day working in Hyogo Prefecture. For lunch, I visited "Sion," a restaurant I had been wanting to try for a long time. It is located on the first floor of a building along Running Water Street, between Hankyu Hanakuma Station and Hanshin Nishimotocho Station. The owner, Junji Ichie, trained for five years under a chef from the former Oriental Hotel before opening this restaurant. The Oriental Hotel, which opened in 1870, was a historic Western-style hotel but closed after suffering severe damage in the Great Hanshin Earthquake. I was very excited to try cuisine that carries 125 years of history. Upon entering, I found a long counter leading to the back, where I sat down. Each seat had a small fan, which was a charming touch. The lunch menu featured four options: "Beef Curry," "Shrimp Curry," "Beef Stew," and "Omakase Hamburger." I chose the "Beef Curry" with a 90g hamburger topping. First, a mini salad and condiments were served. By the time I finished the salad, the "Beef Curry" arrived. It was the type of curry where the sauce was already poured over it, featuring generous chunks of beef. Additionally, a hamburger was placed on top. The flavor was truly a classic example of European-style curry! It started with a subtle sweetness from chutney and onions, followed by a fruity note, likely from apples, and ended with a mild spiciness, lacking strong spices but offering a smooth and luxurious taste. The richness from the beef was well-extracted, making it clear that this was a dish not easily replicated at home. The rice was Japanese, and the beef was tender yet hearty. The handmade hamburger was also delicious, confirming my belief that the "Omakase Hamburger" would be equally good. The condiment dish included traditional pickles like rakkyo (pickled shallots) and fukujinzuke (a type of Japanese pickled vegetable), along with grapes for a refreshing finish. I polished off the meal completely. It's been a while since I enjoyed such a high-level European-style curry. It was a satisfying lunch. The bill came to 1,300 yen for the "Beef Curry" plus 350 yen for the "90g Hamburger," totaling 1,650 yen. Thank you for the delicious meal!
