I had lunch at Okonomiyaki 105 in Yunokawa. There aren't many okonomiyaki restaurants in Hakodate, so it's nice. The exterior and interior are quite old-fashioned. An elderly lady manages the place on her own. There are chairs lined up around a large griddle. There is also a tatami room in the back. The okonomiyaki options include noodle-filled, negiyaki, and meatball. They even have a Hakodate-style okonomiyaki with shrimp, squid, and scallops. I ordered the meat okonomiyaki with extra cabbage. The elderly lady carefully layered the batter and cooked it. It's a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, so the ingredients are cooked with care. It was delicious.

Hakodate, Yunokawa. Today's restaurant is Okonomiyaki 105. I came back to my hometown for Obon, but this year, with COVID, I decided to just pay respects at the grave and head back home quickly. I had a few hours free during the day, so I decided to look for some new restaurants nearby. I found two okonomiyaki places that weren't there when I lived in Hakodate. Let's have an okonomiyaki showdown! If you take the tram, Yunokawa Onsen Station is the closest, about a 3-minute walk away. When I arrived around noon, there were no customers yet, and later there were 6. The noren at the entrance had the words "Higashimaru." That means it's Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki here! There is a counter with 10 seats surrounding the teppan, and two 6-person tatami rooms. The beer at 500 yen is Black Label. It's in pretty good condition. They served potato salad as a complimentary appetizer, and it was delicious and not charged for, very considerate. I ordered the Meatball Okonomiyaki for 700 yen with an Udon topping for an extra 100 yen. When having an okonomiyaki showdown, I definitely want noodles with Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. I saw the Mitsuya sauce in the kitchen, so I decided to go with udon. The ingredients included bean sprouts, cabbage, pork belly, and egg. It was a hearty dish! The udon was thin with a good texture. The husband and wife, along with their mother, were running the place, and the husband was cooking. I thought the cabbage would be plentiful, but it was a normal amount for Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. Still, it was much more than Osaka-style okonomiyaki, and the sweetness of the Mitsuya sauce complemented the sweetness of the cabbage. I wondered if it was authentic, but it turned out to be quite genuine Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. Well, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is probably not found elsewhere in Hakodate, so I was quite pleased. The other customers had ordered various items, and I noticed that the soba was also authentic Hiroshima-style soba. The sauce was the spicy kind that goes well with beer! If I didn't have plans later, I would have tried the yakisoba too! They serve food continuously from lunchtime, which is also a plus. Next time, I'll definitely try the yakisoba! Thank you for the meal!

This was my first visit to a retro-style okonomiyaki restaurant along the tram street in Yunokawa. An elderly lady and a younger man, perhaps her son, cooked for us. We tried the Hakodate-yaki, a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki with seafood. It was delicious, even though I'm not very familiar with it. Every once in a while, it's nice to have one with noodles in it.

Tangokawa Lunch Belly Tour, second stop. A genuine okonomiyaki restaurant where the owner trained in Hiroshima. It was my first time here but the stories were nostalgic. My mother, who loves chatting, found it soothing. I learned for the first time that okonomiyaki in Osaka and Hiroshima are completely different. There was a wide variety of seafood and typical izakaya dishes, so even though it was my first time, I felt comfortable and could drink pleasantly.

This place is located near Yunokawa Station. I was looking for a cafe-like place to rest my tired feet while walking, but there was nothing around. It really felt like there was nothing in this area. In the midst of this, I came across 105 Okonomiyaki restaurant. It was around 11 o'clock and I wasn't sure if they were open, but there was a sign indicating they were. It felt a bit intimidating to enter. Since there were no other shops nearby, I decided to go in. Inside, there was a large teppanyaki grill right in front, surrounded by counter seats. There were also two tatami rooms in the back. It seemed like the mother was running the place alone (at least during this time). The main dishes were Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and various side dishes. They also had a variety of alcoholic drinks. Since I wasn't very hungry, I ordered one okonomiyaki and some alcohol. The appetizer was potato salad, which I really liked. It had a homely taste like something you would have at home. The mother mentioned that she had actually trained in Hiroshima. They used dried noodles for the soba. They topped the okonomiyaki with sauce and MSG when it was ready. You could add mayonnaise to your liking. When the food was ready and I tried it... it was delicious! First, the noodles. It exceeded my expectations. It didn't have the dry, crumbly texture of dried noodles, and it didn't taste like dried noodles at all. And the sauce. I liked it more than the Otafuku sauce. I'm not sure if the MSG complemented it well... I don't know... It was my first time trying this sauce, so it was quite surprising. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. It surpassed my expectations by far since I wasn't expecting much. It was delicious. Apparently, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is not popular in this area. However, due to the mother's many years of experience, there were many regular customers with their own bottles. The atmosphere was very pleasant, with interesting conversations, making me feel like I had traveled back in time. By the way, the name "105" comes from the fact that it takes 100 minutes to fly from Hakodate to Hiroshima, and it only takes 5 minutes from their home to the airport, so they chose this name. It's quite impressive... I want to go back again. I will aim for this place. Thank you for the meal.

I heard about this place from an acquaintance and decided to check it out. As someone from Hiroshima, I have become a fan. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki here may have a different texture, but it still brings back nostalgic memories. Even the teppan (iron griddle) is from Hiroshima, which adds to the authenticity of the experience.

The local okonomiyaki restaurant on the street. I don't think it's Hiroshima style. The cost-effectiveness of 1,200 yen for one okonomiyaki is quite low.

The restaurant offers Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, which is rare in the local area. The taste is delicious, although slightly different from the authentic Hiroshima okonomiyaki. The way it is cooked may be a bit different. However, the overall taste is still good. The only downside is the parking situation, as there are only a few spots available. I happened to see a parking space in front of the restaurant, next to the post office. I didn't notice it before, so I apologize for that. Overall, I had a positive experience.

This is a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant in Yunokawa. The regular okonomiyaki is priced at 650 yen, which is surprisingly affordable. The toppings range from 230 yen for squid and shrimp to 480 yen for oysters (limited to winter), making it a wallet-friendly option that everyone will be happy with. The restaurant also offers specialty okonomiyaki dishes such as "Hakodate-yaki" with squid, shrimp, and scallops, and "Yukawa-yaki" with beef tendon and Kujyo green onions, both priced at 1,100 yen. The taste is top-notch, as the second-generation owner has trained in Hiroshima. I am confident that everyone who tries it will nod in agreement that it is delicious. The owner works hard to make each dish, so I highly recommend stopping by when you are in the area.

Get off at the last stop, Yuno-kawa, on the streetcar and walk back a bit to find this place. There doesn't seem to be a parking lot. The alley next to the shop doesn't have a no-parking sign, but it's a bit narrow, so you might be able to park there if you're careful. Inside the shop, you'll find a retro Showa-era vibe, including the guy cooking the food (laughs). If you like that kind of atmosphere, it might be worth a visit just for that. Of course, the okonomiyaki is delicious. It's not super cheap, and the shop isn't super fancy, but it has a good atmosphere, tasty food, and is a comforting place to be.

This is a Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki restaurant. It is located along the Denkamichi street, near Yunokawa Station. There is no parking lot, so it may be difficult to visit by car. It would be nice if there were some parking lots available for temporary use in the Yunokawa area. The interior of the restaurant mostly consists of counter seats where you can watch the owner cook the okonomiyaki right in front of you. The vegetables that were piled up in a triangular shape seemed to flatten out before I knew it, which was surprising. The amount of vegetables is incredibly generous, making it a very healthy option. After leaving the restaurant, I felt like something was missing. I think it might have been that the okonomiyaki was not topped with mayonnaise. They may have added it if I had asked. I wonder if it's a rule to have Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki without mayonnaise?
