[Sapporo City, Hokkaido] A spice cuisine and wine restaurant located in Minami Maruyama, Minami 6-jo Street. The restaurant has a high rating of 3.75 out of 5 from 26 reviews on Tabelog. To get there, take the Tozai Subway Line to Maruyama Koen Station, take exit 5, head east on Odori, turn right at the second traffic light (Sapporo Food Center corner), walk 700m and turn left on Minami 6-jo Street. After passing the next double intersection, there is a "gravelly private road-like path" on the right where the restaurant is located. It takes about 15 minutes on foot from Maruyama Koen Station. There is no parking available. The restaurant has irregular closing days, so it's recommended to check on social media. This restaurant was chosen by a companion living in Sapporo. The concept of the restaurant is to enjoy charcoal oven dishes cooked in a tandoor and dishes using whole spices, paired with natural wines. The interior features a rustic wooden design with a small counter, 2-seater tables, and 4-seater tables, all non-smoking. The male owner operates the restaurant alone. During peak hours from 6 to 7 pm, there may be a long wait, so it's best to visit with some extra time. Instead of set courses, you can order a la carte dishes. The menu for the day included the following items: [Appetizers] Assorted cold dishes of the day, stir-fried nagaimo and meti, spice dumplings [Tandoor] Chicken, gizzard, kulcha (cheese/blue cheese/keema) [Curry] Pork keema medium spicy, lamb keema medium spicy, beef medium spicy, lamb spicy Rice and naan are optional. The restaurant aims to serve "curries that can be enjoyed as snacks" and does not allow curry-only orders. The spiciness level is fixed, but there are no extremely spicy dishes to worry about. -------------------------------------------------- ■Wine ◎ "Quarticello" (Glass from ¥1000) An orange wine from Italy with a wonderful aroma that I really liked! ◎ "SULA" Shiraz (Glass from ¥1000) Indian wine may not be familiar, but there are continuous efforts to improve quality. This red wine is served chilled and surprisingly delicious with a pleasant astringency. -------------------------------------------------- ■Today's Assorted Appetizers (serves 2 for ¥2000) 8-10 spice dishes are arranged daily. ・Purple cabbage achar with coconut milk ・Komatsuna with cumin/mustard ・Enoki mushroom pickles ・Eggplant and shimeji mustard ・Octopus and rapeseed mustard All dishes are combined with spices like cumin used in curry. The vivid aroma of whole spices spreads in your mouth. ・Scallop coconut stew This is devilishly delicious! It has the richness of a stew, and you can eat as many as you want. -------------------------------------------------- ■Tandoori Gizzard (¥850) Surprisingly tender, unlike yakitori gizzard. It seems to be confit first and then baked in the tandoor oven. Well-seasoned, inviting to wine with the right amount of saltiness and umami! -------------------------------------------------- ■Tandoori Chicken (¥1100) A dish with a crispy skin and a hint of cilantro. Not as surprising as the gizzard, but still delicious. -------------------------------------------------- ■Cheese Kulcha - Blue Cheese (¥1250) An Indian bread with melty cheese inside. It has an authentic cheese aroma, not like processed cheese. It has a salty taste of blue cheese and pairs excellently with red wine. The size is not too big, so it's enough for one person. -------------------------------------------------- ■Lamb Keema Curry (¥1450) Besides minced lamb, there are plenty of chopped root vegetables! The presence of root vegetables like lotus root and carrots is overwhelming. Cilantro adds a nice touch. It's medium spicy, but the spiciness is hardly noticeable. It's okay even for those who don't like extremely spicy food.
