This hotel is part of the same group as Lake Akan Tsuruga Resort, but it seems to be a downgrade. The rooms are not small, but they are average. The baths are decent. The breakfast is just okay. I wouldn't stay here for multiple nights. There's nothing special or outstanding about this place. It's just basic, but acceptable. Next time, I will choose Lake Akan Tsuruga Resort from the same group. However, the staff at the front desk were impressive, especially those who came from Tokyo.

Upon arriving at Kushiro Airport, I boarded the bus that was there to pick me up and headed to Kushiro Shitsugen National Park. After touring the area, I checked into Hotel Gozensui located on the shores of Lake Akan. At 6:00 PM, I had dinner at the main restaurant Ishikari. The menu included various dishes such as appetizers, seafood, pork, deer stew, hot pot, steamed rice, and dessert. Although I didn't have high expectations due to the lack of details in the tour pamphlet, the meal turned out to be quite lavish. Personally, I enjoyed the mountain vegetable rice dish the most. I stayed at this hotel for multiple nights, and while the dinner on the second day was not as impressive as the first day, the breakfast buffet remained the same for both days. I wished there was more crab since we were in Hokkaido.

Kushiro and Nemuro Trip Day 1:
We stayed at this inn which included breakfast and dinner (with a glass of draft beer) for about 5,000 yen. Surprisingly, the price difference between meals included and not included was only 500 yen, so we opted for the meal plan. Initially, I thought the extra 500 yen was just for the beer, but it turned out to be for the meal. I didn't have high expectations for a 500 yen meal, but the inn's food was excellent in taste and variety. They served local dishes like Ishikari hot pot, trout sashimi, and smelt tempura. The miso soup even had shredded konbu seaweed shaped like marimo, which was a fun touch. Although we booked a discounted room, they gave us a lakeside room which was much larger than expected. The inn also had a large communal bath and outdoor hot spring, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Despite the tough times with declining sales, the service quality at this inn was exceptional.

After seeing the transparent Lake Mashu in between the mist, we went to "Hotel Gozensui" near Lake Akan. The lobby has a view of Lake Akan (*^^*), and the hotel is located in the center of the Akan Lake hot spring town, close to the sightseeing boat pier. There is a shopping street in front of the hotel, making it enjoyable for a stroll. The seafood was delicious♪ We enjoyed a buffet breakfast♪ It was a refreshing stay‼️

We are on a family trip to Hokkaido. One of the main highlights of this trip is the Shiretoko sightseeing boat tour, which we enjoyed before heading to Lake Akan Onsen on a tour bus. Along the way, we were able to see wild Ezo deer and red foxes. We safely arrived at Hotel Mizenomizu, our accommodation for the night. We arrived late, so dinner was served immediately. After dinner, we enjoyed complimentary hot coffee and soft serve ice cream in the lobby. Due to time constraints, we explored the shopping street and Ainu Kotan nearby. Now, onto the food review. Cheers! (*^▽^*) Let's dig in!
[Dinner]
The dinner was standard for a hot spring resort, but they cleverly used solid fuel to keep the dishes warm for group dining.
- The tempura of Lake Akan smelt fish added a touch of local charm.
- The Ishikari nabe in a paper pot was delicious.
- The miso soup had a unique seaweed ball resembling a marimo, a nice touch unique to Lake Akan Onsen.
- Plum sour ¥600
- Grapefruit sour ¥600 x2
- Otoko-yama cool ¥1000
- Cider ¥300 [excluding tax]
[Breakfast]
The Japanese breakfast buffet had a good variety from classics to Hokkaido specialties.
- Wakasagi tsukudani: Lake Akan smelt fish tsukudani, also available at the souvenir shop.
- Wagyu beef curry: Rich and slightly spicy, very tasty.
Unfortunately, the outdoor and indoor baths did not offer a view of Lake Akan, but soaking in the hot spring was a great way to relax. ( ̄▽ ̄) Thank you for the delicious meal.

The hairy crab is strong. Its face is also fierce. Its shell is hard and its spikes are sharp. Such a formidable opponent is rare. Faced with the hairy crab, I have always been running away. But this time, I decided to challenge it for the first time! The battleground was at the Akan Kohan Onsen Hotel Mizensui! The gong rang at the "Restaurant Ishikari" inside. After an hour and a half of intense battle, I emerged victorious, although I couldn't conquer its claws, so I can't claim complete victory. In the end, I showed respect to the formidable opponent and rearranged it back to its original form. Am I a bit crazy for doing this? (Definitely!) haha. Eating the hairy crab was indeed a challenge. I had been avoiding even relatively easier crabs like the red snow crab, so the small hairy crab was a real tough opponent. However, its taste was exceptional. It was so delicious that I wouldn't have been able to fight until the end if it wasn't. I also enjoyed other Hokkaido delicacies like "deer tataki". The "ikura" was especially unique, with its small, bouncy texture that paired perfectly with rice. Breakfast was also excellent, especially the salmon and potatoes. And the soft serve ice cream here is a must-try. It's self-service and available in the lobby until 8 pm. The view here is probably the best feature, with the breathtaking frozen Akan Lake visible from the room. The quality of the hot springs was also great, and everything was satisfactory. But the best part was the view. Thanks to the clear weather, I was able to enjoy the stunning scenery. Despite the -12°C cold, I took countless photos. It was a fantastic stay at the "Hotel Mizensui", but I will refrain from giving a rating as this time the accommodation fee was included in the package tour.
