I visited this restaurant in Hakodate two days in a row during my trip and I was intrigued. Despite the somewhat shady exterior, both the staff and customers were friendly, making it a very cozy place to be. I'm not a big fan of beer, but the Sorachi draft beer was exceptional! It had a great aroma and a refreshing aftertaste. Paired with Karl Raymon sausages, I found myself drinking it down easily. The food was more like snacks to accompany drinks rather than a full meal. The cheese platter, dashi broccoli, and zangi were all delicious! Especially the Frill Cheese from Kawase Cheese Factory was incredibly tasty. I wonder if I can buy it somewhere. The drinks selection was diverse, with a good range of sake and wine. I tried various types of sake, including a rare one called Hokuto Zuiso, which was a treat. It seems like Hakodate is big on serving Upikawa Daichi (Goryo) sake. Of course, I had to try it here too. The local sake made with Kameo rice was only available at this restaurant, so I was excited to try it. The staff were knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable. If you request in advance, you can even have hairy crab! The freshness is thanks to their seafood wholesaling business in Hakodate. Unfortunately, I couldn't have the crab that day, so I had it sent to my home to enjoy later. I will definitely visit this place again when I return to Hakodate!

Located near Hakodate Station in December 2022, a dimly lit alley with a signboard lit up, "Butsudan," is a hidden gem for sake lovers. The exterior may look different, but the interior is stylish and up-to-date with a wide variety of sake options, including rare finds from all over Hokkaido, wines, and Japanese sake. They have a policy against serving very strong alcohol, so beer is recommended. The set with beer and a side dish of "Herring with Green Onion Miso" costs 900 yen and is highly recommended. The beer is delicious, and the herring is a tender delicacy that goes well with drinks. The dishes are reasonably priced, with a focus on seafood as the restaurant is run by a seafood wholesaler. The "Extra Large Botan Shrimp" for 900 yen is a must-try, with two large, plump shrimp that are firm and satisfying to eat. The "Scallop and Butter Dashimaki Tamago" for 550 yen is a fluffy and creamy dish with the richness of butter, dashi, and scallops. The scallops are generously included. The food is as delicious as the drinks, making it a great choice for a first stop on an empty stomach when in Hakodate. Definitely a place to revisit when in Hakodate! Thank you for the meal!

There was a shop called Hakodate Uohan right next to the hotel that caught my attention. It used to be a Buddhist altar shop, which was an interesting concept. The atmosphere was mature, and it seemed like a place where people who enjoy alcohol gather. They had a variety of Hokkaido sake and wine. It was intriguing to see different Hokkaido wines available by the glass. The food menu offered a nice selection of dishes to pair with drinks. I heard that their hair crab, which requires a reservation, has good value. I started with a glass of Izumi from Yoichi Rita Farm. It had a fresh and fruity aroma, and was light and easy to drink. I enjoyed it with a Hokkaido cheese assortment. It was nice to be able to try various cheeses, all from Hokkaido. This place is exactly my type of shop. For the second glass, I tried a wine called Hinode Danke from Iwamizawa. I recently visited Iwamizawa but didn't have a chance to try their wine, so it was good to taste it here. I also tried a glass of Merlot from Mikasa, which I couldn't have when I visited there recently. It was light and left me wanting more. I also had a Nostalgia wine from Hokuto, which was a Chardonnay base that I really enjoyed. I planned to have a quick drink and leave in about 30 minutes, but ended up staying for over an hour, having four glasses of wine. The bill exceeded 5,000 yen, and I felt like I spent a lot for one person. But it was a place I really liked, and I left feeling satisfied.

In Hakodate City, Hokkaido, there is a bar called "Hakodate Uofan" where you can enjoy local sake and wine along with Hokkaido seafood and snacks. Despite the Buddhist altar sign outside, inside you can enjoy a glass of wine or local sake. They have a variety of Hokkaido wines in the cellar as well. The snack menu is also tempting, with dishes that make you want to eat more. It's a great place for a second round of drinks. On this day, before dinner, I visited and enjoyed a glass of wine with edamame. The wines I tried were "Nostalgia 2021" from Due Punti Vineyards (Hokuto City, Hokkaido) and "Muratulgau 2021" from Matsubara Farm (Rankoshi, Hokkaido). Thank you for the delicious meal!

When you go to Hakodate, it has become a common practice to follow up with Hakodate UoMeshi after visiting Tempura Tazawa. There are many rare wines from Hokkaido, and the slightly clever menu is also attractive. Above all, the exterior of the shop is very impactful. A must-visit second party venue in Hakodate.

In Hakodate, at night, it's all about the Buddhist altar. The parking lot logo is also cute. They have a lineup of rare wines from Hokkaido. Just seeing the cellar makes your heart dance. I ordered a cheese platter and fried chicken. They were delicious as always. It's a great atmosphere at this restaurant.

I went to this place after enjoying the sauna at Taniutagashira Onsen. It's nice that you can go in a casual manner without any makeup. If it's not too crowded, you can just pop in. I had Karl Ramon sausages, sea urchin salted fried chicken, and squid ring fry. The perfect way to finish was with a rice ball wrapped in rock seaweed! It's a great place to stop by casually. They also have a variety of Hokkaido wines. Other options are available as well.

After going to the sauna, I stopped by this place. They are only open from 3pm on Sundays, and only for dinner the rest of the week (may vary by month, so check on social media). I was hungry, so I started with Karl Raymond's sausages, then had fried cherry salmon, and finished with a bento box with rock seaweed. It's important to have a proper meal. They serve rice and pickles. I tried the local wine, which was just released. Recommended for those who like wine and fancy snacks, whether it's your first or second stop.

I rushed to the store as soon as it opened because I heard they had Montille. I bought three bottles, and the third one is about to be released, so I need to go quickly! I ordered a wine set with Montille. This time, I think it's actually from 10R, but I'm looking forward to trying the one made from grapes in Hakodate! I would like to try it with Burgundy wine if possible. It was delicious!

I visited this restaurant on the last night of my trip to Hakodate. The shop used to be a Buddhist altar supplies store, and it still looks like one from the outside, so you might hesitate to enter if it's your first time. However, inside, they have a wine preservation machine, allowing you to enjoy non-oxidized wine. They have a decent variety of wines at relatively reasonable prices, making it a great place for a pre-dinner drink. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Hakodate's second bar is open until 10pm. The exterior looks like a "Buddhist altar" and the name of the place is "Fishmonger." Feeling a bit confused by these keywords, I entered the shop. The interior has a nostalgic and valuable old-fashioned atmosphere. They have a nice selection of wine and sake. The appetizers are also well thought out. They even sell bento lunches during the day, and with "cafe" in the name, it gives off a cafe-like vibe. It's a great place. I would be happy if there was a shop like this nearby.

I visited this place several times for their draft beer and lunch. This time, I called in advance to request the hairy crab. As soon as they opened, I ordered their famous draft beer and the owner quickly brought out the hairy crab. It was a rare 3-toku giant hairy crab weighing 1 kilogram that you don't see often. The restaurant, being directly managed by a fishmonger, offers delicious food at a great value. They also have a great selection of drinks and the service is warm and welcoming. It was a fantastic experience!

A standing bar still with a sign for a Buddhist altar shop. Despite being a standing bar, there are chairs available. Their main business seems to be a fish market, so I went there for lunch. I had the Matsumae-grown rock seaweed and timeless salt-grilled bento for 1200 yen, and I went back for it twice. The bento had plenty of rock seaweed, the rice was Yumepirika, and the pickles were not store-bought. The freshly grilled salty Tokishirazu was perfect! It's actually too cheap. I also tried the natural salt-grilled red and white salmon comparison set meal for 1200 yen. It may seem trivial, but having good quality rice is important. I won't go back to a place with bad rice. People in Hakodate like salty salmon. They have Japanese wine, natural wine, and sake at Enomatic machines. It's nice that you can have a 60ml tasting. Sometimes people end up having a daytime drink. The menu seems to change from time to time, so I occasionally check their Instagram.

Welcome. ---------- March 2020 ---------- If you turn off the main road along the Wakamatsu Town tram line, you'll notice a flag with the words "Standing bar, lunch" |o| °д°)ノ Galarara It has a cafe-style vibe rather than a standing bar, with a large table in the middle adding to the atmosphere. The retro stove next to the table adds a nice touch and provides a lot of warmth. Sitting there makes you want to drink tea instead of alcohol... Now, let's talk about the lunch menu. From lunch to afternoon drinks, you can enjoy wine and ponzu at Cafe Reiko. The wine and ponzu caught my eye, and the staff were very polite when serving them. Since most customers seemed to be regulars, tourists might find it a bit unusual. For the first drink, I had Domaine Oyamada red wine, which was easy to drink with a rich grape flavor. The second drink was 10R Winery Pinot Rose, a refreshing dry rose. The third drink was Kaitaku Damashii Junmai dry sake, with a crisp finish that goes well with any dish. Asahi Kurosaki Sake Brewery. For food, I had scallop cheese chinmi, a combination of scallops and cheese that paired perfectly with the wine and ponzu. Many people overlook the entrance, where they also sell fish and seaweed.

Buddhist altar shop. Reservation required. They serve only carefully selected alcohol, including wine from Yamazaki Winery. The dishes are really reasonably priced. Each dish is meticulously prepared and the restaurant is truly wonderful.

This is a unique restaurant that focuses on local ingredients and alcoholic beverages from Hokkaido. It is a small restaurant located near the station, so it may be a place where locals, tourists, and staff can engage in conversations. The menu includes Hokkaido cheese platter, zangi (Hokkaido-style fried chicken), cheese with shishamo (smelt fish), and ikura (salmon roe) sushi, as well as other filling rice dishes. They offer a variety of Hokkaido wines and sake, and occasionally serve rare alcoholic beverages. It seems like a good place to have a drink before moving on to the next spot. Thank you for the meal.

A shop in front of Hakodate Station where you can drink wine and sake from Hokkaido. There are various snacks available, so it's okay to go hungry! Be sure to try the Iwata Nori rice ball from Matsumae as a finishing touch!
