Located at 4-2-6 LC Juuichi Bldg. 1F, Minami 7 Jo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido, this is the authentic miso ramen shop I tried for the first time on my previous trip to Hokkaido. I arrived at the shop around 7 pm and found a long line, so I decided to come back later. I kept checking the situation every few hours, but the popularity of the shop never seemed to die down! What's going on? For those of you living in Hokkaido, do you know about this place? Last time, I tried the regular miso ramen, so this time I went for the spicy miso ramen! And you can make it even spicier for an additional 100 yen. Let's do it. The line had about 20 people when I joined, but I got inside in about 20-30 minutes. They took my order while I was waiting in line, so the service was quick. In about 4-5 minutes after being seated, I was face to face with the spicy miso ramen. It was red! Very red. Even though I'm pretty good with spicy food, this was so spicy that I couldn't help but gasp. However, within the spiciness, you could still taste the flavor of miso. The noodles are made by a noodle factory called Nishiyama Seimen. Thick curly noodles with a great texture! The name of the shop, "Setsukaze," was given in the spirit of surviving the fierce competition in Susukino, like the warship "Yukikaze" which wreaked havoc during the Pacific War. It lives up to its name with its delicious miso ramen that is popular among the locals! If you ever visit Susukino, be sure to try it out!

I arrived 20 minutes before the opening and there were already about 5 people lined up. Despite the light rain, I entered the restaurant right at 11 o'clock. I sat at the counter and ordered the rich miso ramen and chicken broth shio ramen. Both dishes arrived quickly. The miso ramen had a rich but not overpowering soup with a deep and delicious flavor that paired well with the curly noodles. The chicken broth shio ramen also had a flavorful and tasty soup, although not as rich as the miso ramen. The only downside was the chashu, which was tender but lacked flavor. The gyoza was simple but delicious, and I would recommend ordering it if you have room in your stomach. It was a while since I had such delicious miso ramen.

I tried spicy miso ramen for the first time. I wasn't sure how spicy it would be, but I decided to pay an extra 50 yen to make it spicier because I didn't want it to be only mildly spicy. When the dish arrived, it was even redder than in the photo. Did I make a mistake? I cautiously took a sip of the soup. Huh? It's not as spicy as I expected. It is definitely spicy, but compared to the flashy appearance, it was a bit underwhelming. The miso flavor was still prominent, with the spiciness added as an accent. It was different from ramen that only focuses on spiciness. I enjoyed it while sweating a bit.

On the final day of the three-day weekend, there was a 45-minute wait in line at the 2100 shop, with fewer tourists. However, it was worth the wait as I was able to enjoy delicious ramen. The noodles from Nishiyama Seimen were soaked in miso, and the chashu had the perfect balance without being too overpowering.

9/12 Menya Yukikaze's rich miso ramen for 950 yen. After visiting Isono Kazuo, we came here around 2 am. When we peeked in around midnight, there were about 15 people lined up. We were asked for our order, waited for about 10 minutes, then entered the restaurant. The ramen was served fairly quickly. The soup was rich and flavorful, with a nice depth but not too heavy. The noodles were the usual curly noodles and had a good firmness to them. They paired well with the soup. The toppings included chashu, white leeks, wood ear mushrooms, and flavored egg. The chashu was tender and delicious, and the leeks added a nice touch. Overall, it was a straightforward and tasty miso ramen. I didn't so much eat it as I pushed it down (ate it quickly). Perhaps if I were more drunk and my stomach was upset, it might have tasted even better. Anyway, Sapporo's dining establishments have seriously messed up hours. It's a city that never sleeps. It's amazing that such a famous restaurant is open until 3 am. I'm just impressed. Thank you for the meal.

It's around 9:00 PM on a Friday night. In the Susukino area, there are several famous ramen shops, and one with a long line that can be seen from afar. As I got closer, I confirmed that it was indeed the line for "Yukikaze." Despite hesitating at first due to the wait time, I decided to line up since I had already come this far. The menu was handed out in advance, and orders were taken before entering the shop. It took about 1.5 hours to finally get inside. The interior was small, with around 10 counter seats and a couple of tables. The walls were covered with autographs of celebrities. Within 5 minutes of being seated, the miso ramen was served. The kitchen staff handed the ramen to the waiter with synchronized movements, ensuring that the freshly made ramen was served promptly. As for the miso ramen itself, it was truly delicious in my personal opinion. The noodles were yellow, thick, and curly. They were from a brand called Nishiyama Seimen. They had a good bite to them and mixed well with the miso soup, coating the toppings like white negi. The chashu pork was thick and tender, melting in your mouth. There were also bits of ground meat adding extra flavor. Overall, it was a rich and flavorful miso ramen, perfect for those looking to enjoy miso ramen in Hokkaido. This place is a must-visit for miso ramen lovers.

I visited just before the last order at 2:00 p.m. on a regular day and was able to enter without waiting in line. The interior of the restaurant was filled with autographs of very famous people, which was amazing. I ordered the rich miso ramen for 950 yen. The service was quite fast. First, the noodles! They were curly egg noodles, which are a must for miso ramen! The noodles were delicious! The soup was rich but refreshing! Sometimes miso ramen leaves a strong aftertaste or feeling in your mouth or stomach, but this ramen didn't do that at all! The thick and tender chashu was also delicious! It was rare to see wood ear mushrooms in the ramen, but since I'm not a fan of them, I didn't really think much of it. The generous amount of white negi (spring onions) on top was also good! It was delicious!

I arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 PM on Thursday, and there were already about 30 people waiting in line. Despite the current situation with the pandemic, we were able to enter smoothly, but now it's back to how it was before the pandemic, with a constant line. However, they take orders while you wait in line, so the turnover is surprisingly fast, and we were able to get in after about 35 minutes. Of course, I ordered the rich miso ramen. No matter how many times I eat it, I always think it's the best miso ramen in Japan. The fact that the full-topping-like serving is only 950 yen is cheap. Thank you for the meal.

After eating seafood in Susukino, I went for ramen as a finishing touch. I went at 11 PM and had to wait in line for about 30 minutes to get in. The inside had about 10 seats, but the turnover was quick and I got my seat soon after entering. I ordered the spicy miso ramen, which had a nice level of spiciness. However, for those who are not good with spicy food, it might be a little too much.

This time, I really wanted to eat miso ramen, so I went to Hokkaido. It was my first time at Yukikaze. I arrived at the restaurant around 11:30 PM after finishing work in Tokyo and heading to Sapporo. There was a line outside, and I estimated at least a one-hour wait. We were finally seated around 12:30 AM, at the counter seats. Of course, I ordered the rich miso ramen! Despite being described as rich, the soup was flavorful yet not overpowering, making it easy to finish even late at night. The yellow curly noodles were just right for me. My 20-year-old daughter also enjoyed her meal! It was the perfect way to end the day with ramen after work. The restaurant has limited seating, but the turnover is good, so I will definitely go again.

I had two bowls of ramen, miso ramen and Shio ramen! Personally, I prefer miso over Shio, and the miso ramen was outstanding. It had a simple flavor that I had never experienced before. The chashu was also impressive and overall, it was a very satisfying bowl of ramen.

I visited around 8 pm on Saturday. I waited for a little over an hour. I ordered one miso ramen and one salt ramen. They were rich and delicious. They also had ramen with only noodles and no toppings, which seemed like a good way to finish the meal! Despite being busy, the staff were all energetic and friendly!

When you come to Sapporo, you have to try miso ramen! So, on a late Thursday night, I walked around and found this place (since the wait at Shinshin was over an hour). There were about 7 people waiting around midnight, but the street seemed less crowded compared to other places, so I decided to wait in line. After about 30 minutes, I got a seat inside. If you're going to eat Sapporo ramen, it has to be miso, so I ordered the rich miso ramen. The restaurant was a bit small, making it hard to pass by people. The noodles were medium thickness curly noodles, which I liked. The soup was different from regular miso ramen, my first impression was that it had a decent amount of seafood influence. Even though I was already quite full, I finished the whole bowl. I'm curious about trying the spicy miso ramen next time. However, seeing the wait times of over an hour the following day, I decided not to revisit for now. Maybe next year!

We decided to have dinner at Yukikaze, so we arrived 20 minutes before the night session opened. There were already two people in line, and we joined as the 3rd and 4th in line. Just 5 minutes later, there were over 10 people lined up behind us! We tried the miso ramen soup, which we had never had before, and now we understand why there was a line. The turnover was pretty quick, and the food was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

At 3 am in the middle of the night, I was stumbling around and thinking about Snow Wind Ramen. I can't sleep without having ramen in Sapporo. The soup blended with three types of miso and my favorite curly noodles with egg were amazing. Sapporo miso ramen is definitely the best. I will visit again when there is no line. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This time, I visited the ramen restaurant "Menya Yukikaze Susukino" in Susukino for the second time in 9 years. It had been 9 years since my last visit, so I was excited as if it was my first time going there! When in Sapporo, I had a craving for miso ramen, so I decided to go to Menya Yukikaze this time! I arrived around 12 o'clock and there was a line to get in, but I was able to be seated in about 15 minutes. While waiting, you can place your order, and the food arrives in about 5 minutes after being seated! Menu: Rich Miso Ramen 950 yen, Handmade Fried Gyoza 500 yen. The ramen uses 3 types of miso, and the flavor is incredibly deep. The curly noodles are smooth and delicious. The chashu pork was also amazing, it melted in my mouth. The gyoza was crispy on the outside and chewy inside, with plenty of filling, it was excellent! Point: Since it's a popular restaurant, there is a high chance of lining up, so it's recommended to go with some extra time. When in Sapporo, miso ramen is a must-try here!!

I visited around 10 PM and there were about 6 people waiting outside. I waited for about 15 minutes. It's a popular place but I think I was able to get in without much of a wait. The curly noodles were thinner and firmer than I expected. I asked for green onions as a topping. It had a flavor I liked. It was delicious!

I had a rich miso ramen. I noticed that there was no soy sauce at Yukikaze, which I found unusual. The noodles and chashu were really delicious. I'm happy that it comes with an egg instead of just toppings.

Visited around 9-10pm on Saturday. Came for a meal after having Genghis Khan (grilled lamb). Waited for about 20 minutes before being seated. I ordered the special miso ramen. The soup was delicious. I wish the egg noodles in miso ramen could be more unique, they all taste the same and nothing special. The flavored egg could also use more seasoning, it was basically just a boiled egg.
