The day before September 19, 2021, my father's funeral ended and my family of four stayed at Hotel Paco Hakodate, which we had reserved upon arrival in Hakodate. Normally, we would arrange flights and hotels together for our trips, but this time we had limited time and ended up staying at a business hotel. However, Hotel Paco Hakodate turned out to be much more comfortable than expected. The best part was the "Hakodate Omori no Yu" hot spring. The sauna and hot spring were of a very high standard. The next morning, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It was quite luxurious with dishes like crab rice and sashimi, and we may have gone a bit overboard with our plate arrangement. The live kitchen with freshly fried tempura was a nice touch. The accommodation price was reasonable, but we were surprised by the fierce competition for breakfast in Hakodate. It seems like this hotel may not fit the typical business hotel category. We usually stay at Hakodate Kokusai Hotel and La Vista Hakodate Bay near Hakodate Station, but we will now consider this hotel as well for our future stays.

<Pacific Ferry and Hokkaido / Doonan Rental Car Journey>, Day 6. Today's breakfast is at the accommodation, "Natural Hot Spring Hotel Paco Hakodate Bettei." I chose this place because I heard the hotel breakfast was excellent. Exciting! The breakfast venue is "Shun," a restaurant on the first floor. This hotel is actually a combination of two hotels, "Natural Hot Spring Hotel Paco Hakodate Bettei" and "Natural Hot Spring Hotel Paco Hakodate," each with a restaurant on the first floor. Now, let's introduce the dishes. Main dishes include shumai, bacon, and sausages. There are also small side dishes on the top row: simmered scallops, herring and bamboo shoots, and smoked salmon. There is also fried chicken and gyoza with curry flavor. Additionally, there is freshly fried tempura, rolled omelet, grilled fish, tofu, and various drinks such as coffee, vegetable juice, and a German drink called "Orangca." There is also crab rice bowl, sashimi, cereal, honey, bread, French toast, salad, dan-dan noodles, green curry, clam miso soup, and white rice. The breakfast spread is quite extensive. Enjoying the meal!

I went on a business trip to Hakodate and stayed at this hotel where the president of the client company usually stays. After a successful meeting in the rest area, we decided to have a dinner together. Unfortunately, it was snowing heavily outside, so we ended up dining at this restaurant inside the hotel with five people. We started with a toast with draft beer and ordered a chef's selection sashimi platter for each person, along with Caesar salad, edamame, Zangi (fried chicken), potato wedges, and toro hokke (grilled Atka mackerel). The sashimi platter was all very fatty and delicious. The toro hokke was surprisingly thick and rich in flavor. We also ordered a bottle of shochu and added butter-grilled scallops, homemade dumplings, and miso-grilled octopus to our order. The scallops were the best I've ever tasted. I assumed the homemade dumplings were frozen, but they were actually made from scratch with chewy skin and juicy filling, so we ordered another plate. I didn't have high expectations since the restaurant seemed to be used for breakfast, but I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious dishes made with high-quality ingredients. Thank you for the feast.

I stayed here before and was impressed with the breakfast, but this time I was a bit disappointed. The tuna was gone. The sashimi only had salmon, squid, and flounder. It's nice to have sashimi, but a little disappointing. Overall, it felt like there were fewer options than before. The shrimp tempura was the same as last time, but everything else seemed to be downgraded. Was it because of the renovation celebration last time? Still, the breakfast is delicious enough. The hot spring is relaxing, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There's a kitchen, so maybe I'll cook dinner next time. There are dishes and frying pans available. It's really a great hotel! It seems like it would be fun to come with family. I'll stay again soon and try the breakfast once more! I hope there will be tuna next time!!

I tried this place for the first time even though it has been around for a while. You order one dish and then it's all-you-can-eat. They had about 5 different rice bowl options available that day. The seafood bowl was incredibly luxurious. Underneath the salmon roe, there was a whole scallop hidden. The steak bowl had a slightly sweet sauce which was disappointing, but they managed to make the tough meat tender. They also had tempura bowl. If you're not satisfied with the rice bowls, they offer pasta or yakisoba with a thick starchy sauce, and the fruit-filled jelly dessert was delicious. Personally, I didn't like the curry udon. The udon was overcooked and the curry had a sweet taste that I didn't like. The parking lot was spacious and the process of getting a ticket and stamp was hassle-free, which was great. If you're interested, you can also access the sauna and hot spring for an additional 702 yen.

Paco Hotel Hakodate restaurant. I made a reservation for the main building with accommodation, but I was upgraded for free to the newer annex. I'm grateful. The room is larger than the main building, with a washing machine, cooking facilities, a sofa, and a dining table. It's like a condominium. There is also a hot spring, making it a recommended place to stay in Hakodate. I usually had breakfast at the main building's restaurant, but this time I tried the restaurant in the annex, called Harada. I wanted to try their lunch buffet. I'm not sure if they still have the lunch buffet now? I entered around 8 o'clock and it wasn't crowded. The tables are placed close together in the restaurant. At night or during lunch, the seats might be a bit too close? I went around the dishes. Bravo!!! Wonderful seafood. The quality of the tuna is definitely good. It's incomparable to the tuna in other hotel breakfast buffets. Of course, they had squid sashimi, ikura, salmon, sweet shrimp, and crab porridge. The miso soup was delicious, and everything was tasty. Harada is amazing. The shrimp tempura with tempura sauce was highly praised. The ham and egg fry was enjoyable too! They had various meat dishes and fried rice. The salad and side dishes were also fulfilling. I ate too much from morning. A hotel worth applauding. I will stay here again.

Four of us went in with our work colleagues, looked at the menu, and unanimously decided, "Four ikura donburi, please." The excitement of having ikura donburi after a long time was unstoppable. Since there were no other customers, our orders arrived in just 10 minutes. The ikura donburi looked beautiful with the white rice peeking through. Well, that can't be helped... So, let's dig in!! The ikura popped in our mouths, and the texture was amazing. We couldn't stop eating, and before we knew it, we had finished it all. Considering the price and portion size, it was reasonable. We couldn't help but notice the staff watching us from the entrance of the restaurant.

I visited for dinner. It's called Kuidaokoro Harada in Omori-cho. It's like a small izakaya, but it's actually a restaurant in the Spa & Casa Hakodate on the 1st floor. Recently, I've been seeing a lot of ads for this Spa & Casa when searching for restaurants in Hakodate. It's part of the Hotel Paco Group. I was very busy that day, running around without having a proper meal. I was starving and felt like shouting, "I'm hungry!" I remembered this place and thought I should eat a hearty meal. I had checked out this place before, but I actually wanted to visit for lunch. Well, I thought a hearty dinner buffet would be good too. You can enter from the front entrance, but the entrance to the restaurant was on the back side. I went inside. They asked if I was staying overnight, but I was just there for a meal. They said it was no problem to just have a meal. I grabbed a plate placed right in front of me with determination. I couldn't help but smile at the plate. I was so hungry that I was ready to attack, but this plate brought me comfort with Miffy on it. Lovely! The staff said there are plenty of plates, but no, this plate is for me. I stubbornly decided to use it. The restaurant has an open kitchen at the front when you enter. The space is spacious with plenty of seats. The dishes may vary depending on the day as it is a buffet. I took the dishes like this. They brought the sashimi to me. I went back and forth many times and made sure to eat my fill. I mainly ate meat dishes. It was delicious. The dinner price is 3,240 yen including tax. I feel satisfied with what I ate for the price. When I entered, I was the only one in the spacious space, but then guests who were staying started to arrive. I didn't have any, but there was a guest who got very excited when they saw the crabs displayed. There is a private coin parking lot a little further away. Make sure to get a parking service ticket on your way out. I suddenly remembered that I used a Miffy lunch box when I was a child. Well, that's irrelevant information. The lunch seems quite reasonable, so I would like to visit for lunch next time. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch buffet was sushi day! I've been here several times before, and there are hits and misses. Today, I'm looking forward to it! When I sat down, I was told, "You can only have 2 plates of sushi per person," and I was given 2 vouchers. Huh? It's not all-you-can-eat? I thought to myself. The sushi included squid, scallop, amberjack, kanpachi, and salmon. Each plate had 5 pieces. The sushi seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, lacking freshness. The scallop had no sweetness or texture. It felt like eating vinegar rice with thinly sliced konjac on top, dipped in soy sauce. There was eel pressed sushi, which tasted good. I won't comment on the eel. The mackerel sashimi bowl had no mackerel taste. There was ice cream, mini cake, coffee, and katsugen. There was also braised pork, crab cream croquette... The two ladies next to me only ate the sushi and mackerel sashimi, leaving a lot of rice behind. It's a shame it wasn't all-you-can-eat for sushi, but for 1300 yen, eating a variety of food to your heart's content is reasonable.

The lunch buffet was average in taste, but the food was mostly cold. It seems like the heating machine doesn't work well. I recommend going on days when they have good main dishes like sushi or grilled dishes. The juice selection is from a popular brand with various flavors, but if you prefer 100% juice or milk, you might be disappointed. The desserts are typical mini cakes, but the homemade pudding looked delicious, although it ran out quickly and wasn't replenished. The young waitresses are friendly, but they can startle you when they suddenly take away your empty plates without saying anything.

I usually choose accommodations with breakfast included for my business trips. Although I have never reviewed hotel breakfasts before, this place made me want to write about it. It feels more like staying in a regular apartment unit (1LDK) than a business hotel, so the number of guests staying seems to be small. As a result, there is plenty of seating available, and you can sit anywhere you like. The layout of tables and chairs is a bit cramped, but I think it would be more comfortable if they were spaced out a bit more. The interior, furnishings, tables, and chairs all have a sense of cleanliness. The buffet area has food items on the top shelf and dishes on the bottom shelf. It's a good idea to have different types of dishes available at different stations, and the space for dishes is well thought out. I got some ikura (salmon roe) in a small bowl, which I thought was pretty good for this time of year. I also got a fried egg, which looked nice on a perfectly sized plate. I picked up a salad as well, with a variety of ingredients like tomatoes, onions, broccoli, and corn. There were about 5 different dressings to choose from. I also got a small portion of squid sōmen noodles and 2 pieces of tuna. Since it's Hakodate, they had to have some squid on the menu. The buffet line had a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, and just when I thought it was over, I found more food on the tables in the back. There was a good selection of Japanese dishes like miso soup, pickles, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette), nagaimo (Japanese yam), mentaiko (spicy cod roe), and more. It seemed like the staff were regularly cleaning up, so there were no dirty dishes or lack of food replacements, which was nice. The variety of food options was impressive, and I was happy to have a pleasant breakfast at the hotel during my business trip.
