I visited this shop every time I went from Asahikawa Station to the downtown area in March 2022, so I was curious about it. After having Aoba Ramen for breakfast, around 10 am on a weekday, I noticed that the shop was open. It seemed like the shop had short opening hours because it was always closed in the evening. Upon further research, I found out that they close when they run out of rice. The shop was very small, with a cash register counter in the front and a shelf of products on the right. I was looking forward to trying their rice balls, but they were made to order so they weren't available. Instead, there were several side dishes lined up on the shelf, including rolled omelette, Zangi (fried chicken), croquette, and Neapolitan pasta in single or combination sets. I briefly looked at the menu for rice balls, and there were a lot of options, around 40 types priced between ¥170 and ¥240. Additional toppings were also available. The side dish set I ended up buying was a combination of rolled omelette and Zangi. I believe it was ¥350. The Zangi had a mild sweetness and a rich flavor that paired well with rice. The texture was also soft. The rolled omelette had a sweet and salty taste and a fluffy texture. Personally, I am very interested in the wide variety of rice balls they offer. Reading other reviews, it seems like the rice balls are quite large, so I wish I had bought one...

Last fall, a takeout shop opened called "Onigiri Yukoahu." It is located at 1st floor, Midorihashi Building 1, 3-8, Asahikawa City. Operating hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, closed on Sundays and holidays. They do not accept credit cards, but offer takeout services. The shop mainly offers bento boxes and side dishes. The curry rice, priced at 550 yen, was simple in appearance but delicious in taste. The curry had a deep umami flavor with a variety of ingredients blending well together. Overall, it was a satisfying meal and worth trying again.

I happened to come across a rice ball shop by chance. There was a lady making rice balls and another lady taking orders, and their friendly service left a good impression on me. The rice balls were bigger than I expected, with just the right amount of saltiness and a good variety of fillings. I couldn't decide which one to choose because there were so many options. I definitely want to go back to this shop.

It was my first time going to the store to buy directly ♬ I used to always ask someone to buy it for me... I remember being surprised when I had it bought for the first time, because I unknowingly ordered 2 pieces...lol [Nanban Miso] ♬ The firm and sharp spiciness is stimulatingly delicious ♡ I wonder where the rice is from? The rice is not too soft, and it's still delicious even when cold...♪*゚Every onigiri is filled with plenty of ingredients, so it's still satisfying to eat (*^ω^*) The first time inside the store... the narrow space made it a bit difficult to find a place for my eyes... I wonder how it looks to people who are sensitive to such things? They also had PayPay available (*^^)v On a scorching hot day, I waited outside the store for about 7-8 minutes. There was a slightly cool breeze coming from a circular ventilation fan-like place at the top left near the entrance, so I managed to avoid heatstroke somehow...lol The 4 onigiri and small pack of Napolitan had quite a weight to them...♪*゚Bon appétit~(*^^*)

I wanted to eat delicious onigiri, and I had my eye on a certain shop. I thought they might be closed on weekends when I have many opportunities to go out, but it seems like they are open more often now! When I visited, I found small packs of side dishes and bento boxes. This way, I can buy a bento and use it for my husband's dinner while I'm out at night. But I still wanted to eat onigiri... I ordered the daily bento for 550 yen and changed the rice to onigiri for an extra 100 yen. I chose the "Ham, Cheese, and Bonito Flakes (individually priced at 230 yen)" onigiri. I ate it at home after finishing my errands, so the onigiri had cooled down, but it was still delicious. The rice was chewy and tasty with just the right amount of salt. The sweet type of rolled omelette was also included. The onigiri was bigger than I had imagined, so I got really full! How about trying the onigiri bento from this shop?

In the center of Asahikawa City, there is a rice ball shop where a friendly older lady manages everything by herself. The rice balls are made to order, not pre-made, and are quickly hand-rolled once you place your order. After being rolled, they are wrapped in a sheet just like convenience store rice balls. The rice balls are surprisingly large in size, so I ended up ordering two. On this day, there were only a few side dish options, but I also bought a tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette). The "Sakura Ebi Salt Rice Ball" (220 yen) had rehydrated dried sakura shrimp, giving it a slightly soft texture. It was generously filled and had a nice flavor with green onions and white sesame. The "Takana Cheese Rice Ball" (190 yen) had slightly softened cheese due to the warm rice. The pickled takana (leaf mustard) was not too salty and paired well with the cheese and rice. The warm rice balls were delicious. The tamagoyaki had a nostalgic sweet taste. While convenience store rice balls are improving, freshly made to order rice balls are still the best!

I finally had the chance to visit the shop after struggling to find a suitable time. I was drawn to the popular menu items, but this time I decided to go with the rice ball and a side dish set. The price was a bit over a coin, but worth it. The rice ball was dense and satisfying, one was enough for me. Pairing it with the side dish made it a complete meal. I would love to try it again if timing allows. The shop and the lady working there were both nice.

"I went to Asahikawa alone to eat ramen in the city, but to my disappointment, the place I wanted to go was closed with no reopening date. However, I found a nearby onigiri shop run by a woman. She was playing loud rock music, which made me think she was young, but then I noticed her white hair and deep voice. I like people like her. She made me a wasabi onigiri, which was nicely shaped due to teamwork. She also gave me a sweet tamagoyaki, which was a bit too sweet for my taste but still delicious. The onigiri had a good level of spiciness, and I was surprised to find sprinkles mixed into the rice instead of a wasabi paste. Overall, it was a tasty onigiri experience."

【Takeout】Located near many companies and public facilities in the area in front of Asahikawa Station, this shop offers onigiri, side dishes, and bento boxes. The shop is on the first floor of the Midoribashi Building, right at the intersection of Midoribashi Street (Hokkaido Route 20) and 3rd Street, just a few minutes' walk from JR Asahikawa Station.
Visited again around 12:30 pm on April 5, 2020. I really like this shop and often use it when I come to Asahikawa, but surprisingly this is my first review. Initially, I planned to buy onigiri, but when I saw this, I couldn't resist changing my order to the Napolitan for 270 yen. I had Napolitan for breakfast and it was delicious, but it was different from the ketchup flavor I had in mind, so I decided to give it another try.
Ate it there and also enjoyed it at home. This is what I wanted to eat - the ketchup flavor. It had sausage, onions, and green peppers, with soft spaghetti that had a good texture, not the al dente pasta you would find in Italian cuisine. Satisfied ♡

I have a job in Asahikawa... I've visited a few times before, but it seems like I have bad luck as some places were closed for temporary holidays or sold out whenever I went. There are some places that I just can't catch during lunchtime, so it's partly my fault as well. Today, I visited "Onigiri Yukoafu" which is just a few minutes' walk from the station. It's a small takeout-only shop with a kitchen run by two women, one middle-aged and one younger. I bought the ikura (salmon roe) onigiri for 230 yen and the dashimaki (rolled omelette) for 160 yen. The onigiri is made to order, wrapped in seaweed, and packaged in a plastic bag similar to those sold at convenience stores. They quickly handed me my order along with chopsticks and a wet towel in a small plastic bag. I enjoyed the onigiri in my car right away. The rice was cooked firm and seemed to be from Hokkaido, with a mild saltiness that paired well with the ikura. The quality of the ikura was not high-end, but it was decent for the price, with a good amount and no fishy taste. The dashimaki had a slightly sweet flavor, and the broth seeped out as I chewed. It seemed like it would taste even better with a little soy sauce drizzled on top. Overall, the onigiri was delicious just as I had imagined. With such a variety of fillings, I plan to visit again to try something new. Thank you for the meal.

In Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, on Midori Bridge Street... This town should have addresses like XX Street, YY District in the central part, but locals often refer to it as ZZ Bridge Street, which can be confusing for those unfamiliar with the area. Anyway, I've always been curious about the unique sign at the onigiri shop in Midori Bridge Shopping Street. Let's go check it out! The daily recommendations on the blackboard outside look delicious, but the menu inside is quite extensive. Hmm... After some thought, I decided to go with the #1 Cheese and Okaka (bonito flakes) and #2 Eggplant Miso onigiri. The orders were taken, and the rice was scooped from a large jar into onigiri molds. The ingredients were added generously, and the rice was pressed firmly on top. The onigiri was flipped, pressed again, and shaped by hand to form a ball with nori (seaweed) on the outside. Each onigiri costs around 200 yen and is quite large. Back at the office, I took a bite. Wow, it's so big! The onigiri was soft and flavorful, with a generous amount of filling. It felt more like a rice ball with side dishes than a traditional onigiri, and I was very satisfied. The Cheese and Okaka and Eggplant Miso onigiri were both delicious, with a good balance of saltiness. Without the nori, the rice would have easily fallen apart, so I savored every bite. The onigiri was so tasty that I even licked my fingers clean. Delicious!

I have visited a few times and the food was delicious. However, while waiting, I looked around the store and it was quite unsanitary to the point of concern. It's understandable that some parts of the store are old, but I have reservations about eating something made in this environment. The onigiri is really delicious, so I would like them to clean up to a level where it's less concerning.

I visit this place a few times a year when I have business trips to Asahikawa early in the morning. The name of the shop has changed a few times, but the style of making handmade rice balls and side dishes in a small shop remains the same. The rice balls are not pre-made, they are made to order. They put rice in a triangular mold, add the filling, cover it with more rice, shape it, and wrap it in crispy seaweed. Eating two of them makes you quite full. I often buy egg rolls as well. I almost always get the cod roe, salmon, and egg rolls. Other fillings also look delicious. You order at the counter inside the shop. The interior of the shop is old-fashioned, so it might not be appealing to everyone, but the rice balls are definitely delicious.
