グルメハンター・酔いどれ天使
Located in Sapporo City, Higashi-ku, at 7-1-21 Kitaku Higashi 14-jo, along the Circular Avenue. It is situated on the same premises as the car supplies specialty store, Autobacs, with plenty of parking available. Flags flutter outside the store advertising "Tendon," "Katsudon," and "Takeout." It's noon on a weekday. The restaurant is about half full when I arrive, just managing to secure a seat. Soon after, more customers start streaming in, and the place quickly becomes packed. The clientele seems to consist of office workers, local housewives, and elderly couples. The interior is mostly square-shaped, with the kitchen space at the back. Upon entering, there are counter seats on the right side, and tables are arranged further in. This restaurant specializes in Hokkaido-style katsudon, tendon, and soba, which was completely unknown to me until now. I debated between tendon and katsudon but settled on the latter to avoid any potential disappointment. Katsudon and a mini soba were my choices. Katsudon costs 540 yen and is served promptly within 10 minutes. The appearance is appetizing, with the freshly fried tonkatsu wrapped in beaten egg. The pork is tender, easy to eat, and has no unpleasant smell. Although the rice, made from Hokkaido-grown grains, seemed a bit dry. It would have been more visually appealing if they had added some Mitsuba or green onions. The mini soba, priced at 290 yen, can be served hot or cold. It comes in a small seiro with shredded nori on top. The soba noodles are flat and slightly thick. The soba broth is quite salty, with a sharp saltiness. The POP inside the restaurant mentioned "bonito flakes, real kaeshi," but the bonito flavor was not very noticeable, and there was a lack of richness and mellowness from the kaeshi. The restaurant is completely smoke-free, with clean air. A nearby table ordered an Ebi-mashi tendon, which also looked delicious. Additionally, the restaurant offers discounted prices on their dishes three times a month on Katsuten Days, where on the 10th, katsudon is 390 yen, on the 20th, tendon is 390 yen, and on the 30th, soba is 390 yen.
