I tried the mini Yamato Nori Karashi Mentaiko bento, and they used chicken breast for the karaage. The portion of karaage was amazing. They seem to pay attention to the rice, and even though I ate the bento cold, the rice was delicious. There were also many side dishes, and you can customize the bento to your liking. I would like to use their service again next time.

It seems that the Yam Yam Shinhatsu store has closed, and a new store called Mini Yam Teine (BENTO FACTORY Mini Yam) has opened. The popular Zangi bento is still the number one choice, just like at Yam Yam, with no changes in the menu. However, the overall prices seem to have gone up, possibly due to a new menu booklet. I didn't have much time, so I chose the fried rice Zangi bento from the takeout corner and ate it in the car. The Zangi wasn't as crispy and the flavor seemed to have decreased, but the fried rice was still warm and the Zangi wasn't cold. The taste and saltiness remained the same as before, so a lighter flavor might improve the overall taste. The side dishes were all meaty, with a slightly salty kelp and pickles for nutritional balance. I thought about having a vegetable-centric lunch next time. When I buy again, I'll try to get freshly fried Zangi. Store information: Mini Yam Teine (BENTO FACTORY Mini Yam) located at 3-3 Tomioka 2-jo 4-chome, Teine-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Teine Ward, Tomioka area. This is a smaller version of YamYam, called MiniYam. There is a parking lot in front of the store. The menu mainly consists of Zangi bento, Nori bento, curry, and tonkatsu. They also have pre-made bento boxes available. The Zangi is only 200 yen per piece, which is surprisingly cheap! I personally prefer not to eat cheap chicken, but I decided to try the Zangi bento (450 yen) which comes with 4 pieces of Zangi. The soy-based marinade is quite flavorful. In addition to Zangi, the bento also includes fried shumai, chikuwa tempura, and red Vienna sausages, making it a fried food feast. I'm not sure if the taste is the same as the Zangi bento listed on the menu. Overall, it's good value for money. It's a bit outdated that they only accept cash payments. Thank you for the meal!

YamYam, which used to be in Shinpahadan, closed down and reopened on January 28, 2023, along Route 5 as "MiniYam Teine Store." It seems like they chose to focus on the most popular menu items from YamYam, hence the name "Mini." I was curious about this place for a while, so I decided to have it for dinner on Friday. I ordered four Zangi bento boxes, each costing 680 yen, with chicken thigh meat. I called and picked it up 30 minutes later. When I opened the container, the Zangi was huge and had a lot of volume. The taste was soy sauce-based with a hint of ginger and slightly salty. It also came with deep-fried chikuwa and red sausages. I thought about adding mayonnaise or ponzu sauce, but the flavor was already quite salty, so I enjoyed it as it was. It was a great snack with beer, and I finished my portion. My wife and kids left 2-3 pieces of Zangi for the next day's side dish. Overall, I was satisfied with the portion and taste. Thank you for the meal.

Cost performance is the best! The famous YamYam, known for their generously topped Zangi bento, has made a comeback in the form of MiniYam. When the original store closed, I thought it might be due to the impact of rising ingredient costs, especially with the continuous increase in chicken prices. However, they have returned, and I am grateful for that. Despite opening a new store, the price increase was minimal. I worry about the store's management with such maintained cost performance. When I asked about the difference between YamYam and MiniYam, I was told that MiniYam has fewer menu items. But for someone like me who loves the Zangi bento, it didn't matter much! Lauded as the ally of the common people, I hope they can continue to run the store for a long time!
