Feast Travel Part 10 - Visit to Hokkaido in 2022 at night. The place is located right outside the Nishi 18-chome station on the Sapporo Municipal Subway. This restaurant is by reservation only and only allows one seating per customer, so reservations are required if you want to go. The reason for the reservation-only policy is that they dismantle the lamb purchased during the day only for the reserved orders of the day, offering lamb meat with a serious emphasis on freshness. Just that alone gets you excited, right!! When you enter the restaurant, it looks like a Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) restaurant, with plenty of smoke, so if you don't like the smell, you should consider your attire before going. There is a place where you can hang your outerwear on a hanger where the smoke does not reach. Now, here are the impressions of what we ate: 1) Raw lamb sashimi 1,190 yen - It seems like it was just dismantled by the owner while we were eating Genghis Khan... Freshness... Amazing!! The cut is from the loin, but the taste is seriously like horse sashimi!!! Refreshing, no hint of any peculiar taste, just rich in flavor!! This is the menu that symbolizes this restaurant. I think it's hard to find lamb of this quality elsewhere!! 2) Raw lamb meat 1,190 yen - It's finished rare in 20 seconds on one side, and it's good to eat. When you actually eat it, even though it's a lean cut, the flavor is concentrated and there is no hint of raw smell. This is exquisite!! A true specialty!! 3) Lamb shoulder loin 1,310 yen - This meat has plenty of fat, so when grilling it, the fat drips down, making it quite juicy, but when you eat it, it's refreshing and you can eat as many pieces as you want. I made a reservation after checking Tabelog and Google reviews. It seems that reservations are essential as some customers were turned away on the day. The owner seemed very busy but was also very friendly. Now, onto the star of the show - the lamb. I was surprised to find that this lamb had no gamey taste at all, which was a first for me! The lamb sashimi was incredibly easy to eat. It was like a cross between tuna and horse meat...? It may not be suitable for those who prefer a bit of a unique taste. The vegetables were surprisingly delicious too. It was great that they came out sautéed. This restaurant really pays attention to detail!

The interior of the store is so-so, the service is okay. The lamb hamburger is incredibly delicious, and the meat dishes are consistently good here! If you don't like carbonated soda, then maybe go for a draft beer to drink! It's a bit away from the bustling area, so taking a taxi is recommended.

I went to a restaurant where it was impossible to make a reservation three weeks ago, but when I called on the day of, they said "It's okay if you come after 8 PM." I couldn't believe it! So I visited the restaurant on the same day, hungry until 8 PM. Even on a Sunday night, the restaurant was packed with customers, showing how popular it is. I had heard that this place is one of the best in Sapporo, and it was true. I ordered raw lamb sashimi, raw lamb meat, lamb skin, thymus meat, 5 types of vegetables, and white rice. Shortly after ordering, raw ham sashimi was served. I was hesitant at first, but it had no smell and was very tender. The raw lamb meat was recommended to be cooked for 20 seconds on each side before eating, and it was so tender and sweet. The lamb skin was crispy and made a great snack. The thymus meat had a texture similar to eating sweetbreads. The amazing thing about this place is that they lightly stir-fry the vegetables before serving them! And for some reason, onions in Hokkaido are always sweet. Irresistible. Even though I was already quite full, I added premium shoulder loin and more onions. The shoulder loin was also cooked for 20 seconds on each side, and it was delicious. I finished everything in about an hour and left the restaurant completely satisfied. I didn't know lamb could be this delicious. This restaurant is definitely on my list of places to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I was surprised that some of my acquaintances in Sapporo have never been there or even heard of it. The appetizer was delicious, and I finished it quickly. Next, I had lamb sashimi, which had no gamey taste at all. They also served raw lamb meat, limited lamb skin, and their specialty thymus. It has a texture similar to shirako (milt). I also ordered the special shoulder loin and vegetables, and I asked for some onions, which were also homegrown. The staff quickly sautéed the onions, so I could eat them right away. The onions were also incredibly delicious.

Yesterday was Friday, so I went to the nearest Genghis Khan restaurant, the highly rated Lamb House Kekele. They serve Western-style Genghis Khan here. It's reservation-only, so be sure to make a reservation at least a day in advance. It was almost full, but it starts to open up around 8 pm. We were seated at a table and started off with some draft beer. They didn't have Sapporo Classic, but they did have black beer. The fresh lamb meat can be eaten rare. We ordered lamb sashimi, raw lamb meat, premium shoulder loin, lamb meat hamburger, spare ribs and vegetable platter, and pickles. The spare ribs take a little longer to cook, but the other meats cook quickly. The unique thing here is that they bring out the vegetables already cooked, and the sauce is a special Western-style sauce with a spicy kick. It's the best way to enjoy fresh lamb meat. Healthy and satisfying. Thank you for the meal!

About 7 people from the Tokyo headquarters came to the restaurant for a company event. One person from the headquarters who seemed to know a lot about Sapporo made the reservation. They learned how to pour draft beer and make cocktails from the owner before toasting. They started with fresh lamb sashimi for 1290 yen, which had a great texture and no gamey taste. Even the French person from the headquarters who couldn't eat lamb before enjoyed it. They also ordered a platter of grilled vegetables for 870 yen, lamb roll rice for 1290 yen, premium lamb shoulder for 1410 yen, lamb brisket for 1290 yen, and more. The lamb meat was fresh and had no gamey taste, so it was easy to cook. They couldn't remember all the dishes they ordered because they were enjoying themselves so much. It had no gamey taste, smooth texture, and tender meat, incredibly delicious. The lamb roll slices were juicy and flavorful, showcasing the high-quality meat. The thymus was crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a unique texture and delicious taste. The lamb skin was crispy and delicious, but had a strong lamb flavor. It was my first visit since I was a student, before the renovation. The master seemed to be in good health. The Genghis Khan dish was light and not too fatty, with no strong smell. The sauce had a unique French-like flavor. You can also try lamb sashimi.

Tonight in Sapporo, I went to Kekele, a place that serves Genghis Khan and raw lamb by reservation only. They apparently cut the meat on the day of the reservation, so it's incredibly fresh. The raw lamb sashimi has no gamey taste at all, tasting just like tuna. The premium lamb shoulder is tender and cooked for about 20-30 seconds under the guidance of the owner. Grilled vegetables are served first and are delicious. The homemade lamb hamburger is also very tasty, whether eaten as is or with the unique sauce provided, which has a light and herby flavor. This Genghis Khan restaurant is truly one-of-a-kind. The owner, who runs the place alone, is amazing.

I don't really want to tell anyone, but this is the best Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) in the country. The restaurant is called "Ram House Kekele" in Sapporo. This place stands out because the lamb meat is incredibly fresh and doesn't have any gamey taste. The owner is very particular about the ingredients and preparation, so reservations are essential. The highlight is the special salt sauce and herb sauce, which make the lamb meat taste amazing without any gaminess. The cabbage is stir-fried lightly, and the sweet risotto with pearl barley is a must-try. It's hard to believe that the lamb meat is so tender and flavorful without any gamey smell. I have never heard of a restaurant serving sashimi domestically, and it's also strange how there is no fishy smell! Additionally, the other lamb dishes also surprised me because lamb is usually associated with a strong smell, but this restaurant managed to serve lamb without any odor, completely changing my impression of lamb! I had the chance to talk to the head chef, who mentioned that he trained as a chef in countries such as Germany and Sweden in the EU. Sapporo expedition. Went to the popular Ram House Kekere again. The food here is really delicious. What impressed me the most this time was the lamb spare ribs. When it first arrived, I thought there was hardly any meat on it, like the lamb chops you often get with Genghis Khan, but the flavor was amazing! It had a concentrated umami taste that was incredible, like aged bacon or sausage. I already want to eat it again. Every time I come to Sapporo, I discover so many delicious places that I want to revisit. I might have to stay here for a long time. By the way, I heard that the young staff working here were so impressed by the taste of this restaurant that they started working here. It's amazing. According to a taxi driver, this place used to be a steakhouse in the past? Ram House Kekere is still full of surprises. The prices have gone up due to rising raw material costs, but I still want to eat here!

A friendly old man runs the place by himself. First of all, the sauce is clear and surprising. I like the thick sauce, but this one with various spices is also delicious. The best part is being able to eat raw lamb. It's really delicious without any strange taste, so I want to come back to eat raw lamb again.

I mustered up the courage to try Genghis Khan (Mongolian BBQ) by myself, as I had been curious about this place for a while. I arrived a bit early before opening, but was promptly seated and suggested to try a combination plate with a little bit of each of the four types of meat since I was dining alone. I had never tried raw lamb before, and it was my first time eating it raw. It was a bit fatty and different from beef, chicken, and horse meat, but it was delicious. The combination plate included raw lamb, sliced lamb loin, premium lamb shoulder loin, and lamb liver. I made sure not to overcook the raw lamb and enjoyed it rare. All of the meats were tasty, and it was great to be able to try different varieties. Thank you for the kind service. The owner was managing everything alone and seemed very busy running around. Despite being busy, they were attentive and provided excellent customer service. I think Genghis Khan is best enjoyed with two or more people, so I will definitely be back with friends. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This shop, located right by Nishi 18-chome Station, is one of the top three Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue) restaurants in my book. The basic recommendation is the fresh lamb meat and shoulder loin, but the lamb hamburger is also highly recommended. It's rare to find lamb hamburgers in Sapporo, and this one is by far the most delicious. The sauce is based on a salt base with a hint of herbs, which is also very tasty. When you order a vegetable assortment, they bring it separately sautéed, making it efficient to eat. Note that reservations are required.

From raw lamb meat, lamb sashimi, spare ribs to lamb meat tomato risotto and hamburg steak, everything was a must-try. Each dish showed a lot of attention to detail, and even the oolong tea was homemade. What's more, the owner of the restaurant was managing everything alone, and he was truly a kind person that made me want to support him. This restaurant makes me want to come all the way to Hokkaido just for this experience.
