Located in the Kinshicho area of the West District. Congratulations on being selected as one of the top 100 Western restaurants on Tabelog! We made a reservation for 11:30 and arrived on time. Some people who arrived at 12:00 couldn't get in and had to leave. The interior has a bright and casual atmosphere. The background music is mellow Western music. In addition to tables for two and four, there is also a counter seat, making it easy for solo diners to enjoy. We were seated at a table with shadowy lighting, and the placement of the lights and the overall layout of the restaurant were a bit disappointing. Since it was my first visit, I wanted to try the most popular menu item, while my wife ordered the fluffy omelette rice, which she found delicious in the past but made her feel sick. Our orders were as follows:
- Hamburger steak (1950 yen) with Demi-glace or Shallot Pin Salad and soup, with a choice of rice or bread
- Omelette rice (1800 yen) with salad and soup
- Pudding a la mode (1750 yen)
- Lunch coffee (440 yen)
[Hamburger steak]
Wow! Delicious! The juicy hamburger steak was overflowing with meat juices, and the seasoning was exquisite. I was surprised by the Demi-glace sauce. It was not the type that emphasizes acidity and instead was light but complex and rich. The vegetables served as sides were exceptional, especially the asparagus, which was incredibly juicy and flavorful. The root vegetables were also plentiful, and the deep-fried potatoes were so voluminous that half of one was equivalent to a whole. The attention to detail in the cooking techniques for the vegetables, perfect deep-frying, and the sautéed daikon, all without using pre-made recipes, was truly impressive. To be served all these items on one plate at this price point is perhaps unprecedented. I was moved.
[Omelette rice]
Although I prefer a fluffy omelette rice, I could see the skillful technique in the perfectly shaped omelette. The thinly cooked egg was also very beautiful. The rice was delicious, almost like a risotto-style ketchup rice that I think would not be achievable without a reservation made the day before. While I think the Demi-glace sauce is more delicious, the tomato sauce had a balanced acidity that complemented the flavorful ketchup rice. It was very tasty.
[Rice]
I chose rice over bread with the hamburger steak. The rice had a strong stickiness, sweetness, and aroma. It felt slightly soft on the first bite, but it had the perfect firmness. The rice was also perfect and very delicious.
[Salad]
The salad that came with the set had a dressing that you can drink. It had a slightly sweet and fruity dressing with a hint of berry acidity. It was a unique and delicious dish.
[Soup]
The soup was an original creation with a slight acidity from tomatoes, a Japanese-style clam broth, and a slightly Chinese-style flavor. It was very original and delicious.
[Pudding a la mode]
This was a big disappointment. After enjoying such fantastic dishes, the use of canned fruits for decoration, apart from half-cut strawberries and sliced bananas, was a letdown. At 1750 yen, I expected a bit more thoughtfulness.
[Coffee]
The aroma was good, but the coffee was a bit too bitter for my taste. It felt a bit weak due to the small amount of beans used. Personally, I prefer a darker roast, so I was a bit disappointed.
[Overall]
I honestly don't want to write too much, but the staff hung up the phone unusually quickly when I made the reservation. The hamburger steak was served 15 minutes after the omelette rice, so I couldn't add a bit of hamburger Demi-glace sauce to the omelette rice. The empty plates were left untouched for over 20 minutes until the pudding was served. The main dishes were of such high quality that I think the staff must be under a lot of pressure, but there was a clear lack of hospitality. It's common for popularity to lead to a decrease in hospitality. I'm pointing this out in the hope that it will be helpful for others. The taste is excellent. Thank you for the meal.
