This is the best time to enjoy autumn salmon, known as "Akiaji" in Hokkaido. I don't fish, so I don't have many opportunities to eat it unless I go to the market to buy it. But this time, it was on the menu at this restaurant, so I tried it right away! - Autumn Salmon Set Meal (with Clam Soup) ¥2000 The portion size, the firmness of the flesh, the sweetness of the fat, and the elegant umami flavor - it's all just amazing! The sashimi is thick and satisfying to eat. The sensation and flavor that linger on the tongue are irresistible! The only downside was that there wasn't enough rice... (laughs) (I think you can ask for a refill if you tell the staff) - Rausu Sea Urchin Sashimi ¥600 This is sashimi made from real sea urchin. It is presented in the shell, making for a visually striking dish! It's finely prepared and has a crunchy texture. It's delicious, and the fact that they can offer it at this price is because it's from Rausu. At an izakaya in Kushiro, this would easily cost double. ^^; Overall, many tourists head to the "Shiretoko Shokudo" located inside the Michi-no-Eki. Their menu is extensive and the food is delicious, so you can't go wrong there. However, this place is relatively quiet, not too expensive, and the food is delicious. If you're looking for a hidden gem for lunch, I highly recommend it! (*´˘`*)

On the third day of my trip to Eastern Hokkaido, I went to this popular restaurant along the national highway. While Rausu is famous for its hokke (Atka mackerel), my companion ordered the hokke set meal, so I opted for the ikura (salmon roe) donburi as the second choice. The salmon roe in Hokkaido is known for its large, delicious pearls. Rausu itself doesn't have many dining options, which may contribute to the popularity of this restaurant. I would definitely want to visit this place again when in Rausu. The hokke was also delicious.

When I visited the Rausu Lunch during lunchtime on August 16, 2023, it was full and I had to wait for about 15 minutes. I ordered a seafood bowl, a grilled salmon set, and dried Atka mackerel. The salmon was fatty and the sashimi was thickly sliced, while the grilled dish had a perfect amount of salt, making it very delicious. The Atka mackerel was also firm and tasty.

I arrived at the restaurant a little past noon and there were about 3 groups waiting. The staff seemed busy working. I decided without hesitation to order the salmon set meal, which is currently in season. The salmon tasted different from any I had tried before, with a unique richness. Fresh fish delivered directly from the port really does make a difference.

I found this restaurant when I was in Rausu the other day and wanted to have lunch. They had a variety of options, so I ordered the sashimi set meal. The price varied depending on how many shrimp you wanted. I chose the set meal with one shrimp. The restaurant is run by fishermen, so the seafood was really fresh and satisfying. I enjoyed it a lot.

From morning until now, it's already 12:00. Had breakfast at the hotel, then went to another place to eat a sea urchin and salmon roe bowl. Can't miss out on this when visiting Rausu. At this point, sea urchin and scallops were sold out. Ordered the sashimi set instead. The sashimi that came out was beautiful. Even though I should be full, the thick sashimi tasted fresh and delicious. The shrimp, salmon, and yellowtail were rich and had a deep flavor I've never tasted before. The clams with salmon roe were crunchy! The crab soup was amazing! The staff were very kind and friendly. I want to visit again and enjoy it to the fullest next time.

I used this restaurant for an early lunch during my business trip to Eastern Hokkaido. It is located along Route 335 on the sea side, on the way from Rausu to Shibetsu. I arrived before 11:00 am on a weekday and was able to get in without waiting. I ordered the "Atka mackerel set meal" (1500 yen). Although the sea urchin also looked tempting, I thought that when in Rausu, I must eat Atka mackerel, so I chose this. The Atka mackerel, with its rich flavor, easily separated from the bones and meat, making it easy to eat. The miso soup was "teppozu" soup, adding to the luxurious feeling. A large group of foreigners (mainly Chinese) arrived in droves, so if you have a set plan, it might be safer to make a reservation in advance.

Delicious but expensive, but maybe it can't be helped in this area. There are few options for finding food in Shiretoko, mostly catering to tourists. Even asking locals didn't yield different results. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is cold and feels like it's just for tourists. There are several items on the menu, and even though it was a weekday, customers kept coming in without a break. I wanted to try both Kinki and Hokke, but ordering both ended up costing over 6,000 yen. The Hokke grill for 1,300 yen was reasonable, but the Kinki grill for 4,800 yen was so expensive that I thought it might be the most expensive in Japan. However, it was delicious.

I visited Rausu in order to go on a Shiretoko cruise! Before the cruise, I searched for a restaurant for a pre-meal and decided to try Hamada Shoten, known for its fresh seafood. I ordered the Uni-Ikura Donburi (sea urchin and salmon roe rice bowl) and the Hokke set meal. The Uni-Ikura Donburi was like a sparkling gem with its beautiful red and yellow contrast. It had a rich and delicious flavor without any fishy taste. However, the real highlight was the Hokke! It was juicy with just the right amount of fat, and a hint of sweetness made it incredibly delicious. While Uni is famous in Rausu, you must not miss out on trying Hokke! Highly recommended for those visiting Rausu! It was so delicious! #Rausu #HokkaidoTravel #HokkaidoFood #HamadaShoten

Research report on September 5, 2022. 5th day of the Hokkaido expedition. Today's itinerary: Ootainuma -> Notsuke Peninsula (Todowara) -> Kaiyoudai -> Rausu. Tonight we are staying at the Rausu Onsen campsite. Before heading to the campsite, we stopped for a meal. Arrived at 12:22 PM. Interior: - In the back, there was a factory where they grilled and prepared fish. - Seating: 4-person tables x 8 tables - Operation: 2 friendly female staff members, waited 18 minutes for the food to arrive. Ordered items and reviews: - Autumn Salmon Roe Bowl: 2800 yen, Rating 3.9 Delicious autumn salmon with a rich taste! The soy sauce-marinated salmon roe was generously topped, which elevated the dish. - Okhotsk Atka Mackerel Set Meal: 1500 yen, Rating 4.0 The locally caught Atka mackerel from Rausu was firm and flavorful, with a good amount of fat. Overall impression: When in Rausu, you can't miss the Atka mackerel. It was truly delicious.

Shiretoko Goko had clear skies with no clouds, making the view of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko mountain range incredibly beautiful. Driving through the Shiretoko Pass to the other side of the peninsula to Rausu, the view of Mount Rausu was obscured by clouds at the pass. As we descended towards Rausu, the weather was overcast, showing how different the weather can be on either side of the Shiretoko mountain range. For lunch today, we stopped at a restaurant where we were lucky to find a seat by the entrance as it was almost full. The restaurant had a simple and rustic feel, with various seafood products on display. We ordered the Hokke set meal (1500 yen) and the scallop set meal (2200 yen). Rausu's dried Hokke is famous for its delicious fatty meat due to the cold water temperature in the northern sea. After a short wait, our Hokke and scallop meals arrived. The scallops were served as sashimi and butter-grilled, accompanied by a soup with plenty of snow crab, rice, kelp, cod roe with pickles. The Hokke had crispy skin, juicy meat with a rich flavor, and was truly delicious. We enjoyed the fresh seafood from Rausu in Shiretoko Peninsula, it was a delightful meal. Facing the sea and seeing Kunashiri Island in the distance, it brought up mixed emotions. Now, we will leave Shiretoko and head towards Lake Mashu and Lake Akan.

Golden Week is here, but Hokkaido is still cold. Even in Shiretoko, the wind is strong and it seems like spring is still a bit far off. The newly opened Shiretoko Pass has frozen over and been closed again. However, looking at the Shiretoko Peninsula from afar, it is still covered in snow and incredibly beautiful. The grandeur of nature is truly moving. I have come to the easternmost part of Japan. Anyway, when you think of Rausu, you think of Hokke (Okhotsk Atka mackerel). I can't leave without trying it. I quickly headed to Hamada Shoten. In the spacious shop, I ordered the Hokke set meal I was looking for. And look, they even have the legendary Budou shrimp. Let's try that too. My wife ordered the Tokishirazu Don (salmon rice bowl). After about 15 minutes of waiting, the set meal arrived. I was face to face with a huge Hokke. The size is truly impressive. It looks thick and satisfying to eat! The surface is nicely grilled and the cooking is just right! And here comes the Budou shrimp! It looks just like a Botan shrimp but with a completely different color. It looks very deep in color. It's worth the 2000 yen! Now let's start with the Hokke. The thick meat is very satisfying to eat. The umami flavor overflows as you chew. This is truly the best of Rausu! The bones are crispy from being grilled. The quality is impeccable. This is the pinnacle of Rausu. I really want everyone to try this. A single bowl of rice is not enough in front of this quality Hokke, haha. The Budou shrimp is also very delicious. It is sweet with a good texture. It is much sweeter and firmer than regular Botan shrimp. This is the king of shrimp. Truly Rausu at its best. Thank you for these two amazing dishes. Thank you for the meal.

On June 24, 2021 (Thursday), while participating in the 2021 Hokkaido Michi-no-Eki Stamp Rally, I had lunch in Rausu. I was turned away from "Jun no Banya" and ended up at this restaurant. When it comes to Rausu, it's all about 'Hokke' fish, right? The Hokke set meal (1500 yen) was huge... and the flesh was thick. When you break it with chopsticks, the fat oozes out and it's so juicy. Drizzle some soy sauce and take a bite. It's incredibly juicy! The indescribable sweetness of the fat is amazing! Even though I'm from the port town of Kushiro, I've never had Hokke like this before! The "Rausu Hokke" is famous, but it lives up to its name in deliciousness. The grilling method was also excellent. The side dishes of scallop simmered in soy sauce and ikura (salmon roe) were also excellent. The soup with hanasaki crab was made with elegant crab flavor and sweetness, simply impressive. By the way, you can have free refills of rice. All of this for 1500 yen. Good value for money, and if you come to Rausu, you must try the Hokke grilled at Hamada Shoten!

Memories of a trip to Hokkaido. It was the end of February 2020, right when the coronavirus began. I haven't been able to go to Hokkaido since then (tears). We stopped by for lunch. Around this time, salmon roe was becoming scarce and expensive. When we went to take photos by the river, the salmon that used to come there was nowhere to be seen... Even the bears that eat them seemed disappointed and went back empty-handed. We visited right after returning from the first morning drift ice cruise in Rausu. Although it was opening time, the shutter was only partially open. When we called out, the staff inside said, "Of course, please come in." Perhaps due to the scarcity, they only had enough Uni Ikura bowls for two people that day... But they kindly offered to wait until a new catch arrives if we were willing. Since this trip was not primarily for food, I declined the offer and opted for the Uni Ikura bowl. I vaguely remember it was around 2800 yen. The bowl came with cod milt and a soup with radish (miso soup with cod milt). It's not cheap, but the taste of the sea urchin is unmatched! Just imagine dipping it in a bit of soy sauce... The scallop butter grilled dish was also recommended by someone, so we added it to share. When will I be able to go back again? Thank you for the delicious meal!

I wanted to go to Jun's Banngoya, but they were closed!! But the food here was still delicious! I had a set meal (without rice) and ordered prawn and scallop butter grill and sea urchin as side dishes. Ate too much, haha. The hardest part is not being able to drink because I have to drive.

Visited around 10 o'clock on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. The parking lot in front of the store was full, but the inside was empty, which was strange. I assume there must be a second parking lot somewhere. I was in the mood for a light snack, so I looked up this restaurant on Tabelog and it had very high ratings. I decided to order the scallop butteryaki. It was indeed delicious and had a great texture! However, since it was something I don't usually eat, I wasn't sure how to rate it. But overall, with the atmosphere reminiscent of the coast of Hokkaido, I thought it was a good restaurant.

I came here for lunch in Rausu, and there were many options but I decided to come here. They are working on something in the back, maybe preparing the seafood. This is my third time in Rausu, and of course, it's all about sea urchin. Sea urchin here is delicious, especially when paired with Rausu kelp. The seafood bowl also looked very tasty. The sea urchin is really sweet here.

After the Shiretoko Nature Cruise, I visited this restaurant. I ordered a seafood bowl with sea urchin and Botan shrimp. The seafood bowl was delicious with a variety of fresh ingredients. The Botan shrimp was expensive at 3300 yen per tail, but I thought it was worth trying at least once. I was able to compare the Botan shrimp on the seafood bowl with the one I ordered separately. The Botan shrimp was moist and had a strong sweetness compared to regular shrimp. I also bought dried Kinki fish and Toki Shirazu fillet as souvenirs. Keep in mind that this is a popular restaurant with high prices, so be mindful of your budget. There may be a wait to get a table, so visit with plenty of time to spare.

I visited for the first time in 6 years since May 2013. Last time, the scenery was covered in snow and the sightseeing cruise was canceled, but this time I was able to see orcas and the weather was nice. The wind is still strong as usual, and I'm worried about tomorrow's cruise, but I'm glad I could reunite with the landlady at this restaurant. I couldn't remember her face well, but I could tell it was the same person by the atmosphere of her service.

During my trip to Shiretoko, I visited Rausu. The Shiretoko Shokudo at the roadside station was crowded and closed early, so I went to Hamada Shoten instead. There was a wait here too, but if you write down your phone number, they will call you when your table is ready, so you can wait in your car which was convenient. I ordered the daily seafood bowl with sea urchin. For the price of 3,500 yen, I was very satisfied with the generous portion. The sweet shrimp was large, and the salmon was very fatty. The sea urchin had a refined taste, and I was completely satisfied. The seafood bowl from the fishing port is truly delicious.

We wanted to eat fresh seafood from the local area, straight from the fish tank. There were many similar restaurants nearby, so we were unsure which one to choose. The restaurant we decided on turned out to be the right choice. The staff were very friendly and when we expressed our desire to eat hairy crab, they informed us that the meat was thin that day but recommended snow crab instead. They boiled it with the innards and it was delicious. We also had a sea urchin bowl, which was rich and creamy. We forgot to take photos, but we also bought some souvenirs from the restaurant, such as salmon roe and dried fish, which were sent to us in a cool box.
