I had a business acquaintance in Sapporo who was a sushi lover, and when he came to Sapporo for a meeting, he recommended a restaurant called "Sushi Matsumoto" saying "This is the best place in Sapporo/Susukino". I finally managed to revisit the restaurant after 4 years, and the conclusion is, it's still incredibly delicious. We started with the omakase course, beginning with appetizers. The first dish of "Squid and Shellfish Shinjo" was amazingly delicious, with the flavors of the ingredients shining through. Here are some of the dishes we enjoyed and my thoughts on them. The food was fresh and expertly prepared, with a good balance of creativity and traditional flavors. The total price for the course, including sake, was around 16,000 yen, which was quite reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also very pleasant, with the chef and the hostess being friendly and welcoming. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience that I highly recommend.

Four golf course members went on a golf training camp in Hokkaido. On the first day, we visited Matsumoto's place as it seemed cozy with limited seating. We made a reservation and went there. The course cost 12,000 yen including drinks, totaling 16,000 yen. The meal included 6 appetizers, 5 sashimi dishes, and 12 pieces of sushi. The appetizers and sushi were average. The fish was fresh, but the overall dishes didn't quite match. The owner was very friendly, which made the dining experience enjoyable. There might be a slight gap between the quality and cost. This place is recommended for those who want to relax and take their time.

First visit. I felt anxious as the surrounding shops in the underground had no restaurant atmosphere, but I found the place. We sat at a table and overall, the food was good. The salmon roe was particularly delicious! I prefer the foie gras and simmered octopus to have a stronger flavor. The sushi was of high quality and good. I also think it's good value for money! I will definitely go again.

For the final dinner of our Hokkaido food tour, we found a restaurant called "Sushi Matsumoto" as many famous sushi places are closed on Sundays! It was located in a slightly chaotic building in Susukino, underground. The restaurant was clean and had a sense of cleanliness. We made a reservation in advance and arrived at the opening at 6:00 pm! We ordered the course menu and left the choice of sake to the restaurant! The first dish was hairy crab tofu, which was quite delicious! Next, we had local tuna sashimi. The Shiretoko mackerel was a large cut piece with a satisfying texture! The sweet shrimp tartare was also good! The grilled flounder fin was fatty, so they grilled it for us! It was also delicious!!! Here, Hokkaido sake, Niseko, was served! When my wife mentioned she likes ikura, they brought out the sakuramasu salmon roe! Their homemade shiokara was also tasty! The deep-sea fish called aburabozu was also delicious! We wanted more sake, so they served Hokkaido Katsu! The shark ray and surf clam were delicious one after another! Next, the nigiri sushi was served! First was scallop! It was thick and delicious!!! They seemed to forget the ankimo, oyster, and tachipon as appetizers, so they brought them out at this point! The king salmon called masunosuke was also delicious!!! The third sake was Tateyama River. Uni is definitely the best in Hokkaido!!! The hairy crab sushi was also incredibly delicious! The botan shrimp, toro, and tamago concluded the course! We were very satisfied, but the saba we had as an appetizer was so delicious that we asked for more nigiri! It was our first time at this restaurant, but the taste and service were good, making it a place we would want to visit again!!! Thank you for the meal!!!

The content this time was too good. It's like the main event of the day, a post-event gathering. It would be great if this delicious happiness could last forever, and scenes where you feel that way are the best in life. At Sushi Matsumoto, I was able to enjoy a delicious and satisfying moment of pleasure. They use Hokkaido tuna to make their homemade sea chicken with purple onions, adding a nice crunchy accent. The sweet shrimp tartare has a crispy texture and is perfect to eat as it is, paired perfectly with sake. The shark fin wrapped in sea urchin is refreshing with a clear sweetness, and it's delicious! The mackerel has a perfect balance of lean and fatty meat, and it's absolutely delicious, making it a great accompaniment to sake. The monkfish liver and Saroma oysters are both creamy and delicious. The tuna collar meat skewers have a delicious salty flavor and a tender texture that is similar to high-quality braised meat. The simmered octopus has a soft texture and is delicious when dipped in salt, making you want more. The fresh salmon roe has a delicate appearance and a mild flavor that is delicious. The vinegared rice risotto with shark fin skin has a crispy texture and is delicious, making you want to eat more. The homemade karasumi has a gentle salty flavor and a rich umami that makes you want to savor it. The salted fish roe with yuzu pepper is also different from the usual, thanks to the masterful skills of the sushi chef. The cherry salmon is a perfect match for sake. The nigiri sushi is subtly seasoned with red vinegar, and the scallops are becoming more meaty. The vinegar-marinated flatfish has a good umami flavor. The abalone with miso is delicious when paired with sake. The bowl of soup with shrimp and seaweed is fragrant and flavorful. Finally, the tamago has a great flavor with the taste of seafood. Overall, the additional dried gourd roll is delicious and makes you want more. Sitting at the counter was the best experience. I look forward to visiting Sushi Matsumoto again and wondering when I should go next. As for drinks, the Oka no Kami sake from Higashimurayama has a muscat-like aroma and a sweet and savory taste. The AKABU sake has a rich and crisp taste that is perfect for enjoying at a sushi restaurant. The Tatenokawa special junmai sake is irresistible with its sweet and savory taste. It leaves a good aftertaste and a pleasant buzz, as we move on to the next destination with my fellow reviewer. Restaurant Information: Location: B1F, N Grande Building, 3-8 Minami 5-jo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido Smoking Policy: No smoking allowed Private Reservations: Available (I used the private reservation option last time) Closed on Wednesdays

Sushi Matsumoto is a sushi restaurant located on the basement floor of a tenant building in Susukino, Chuo-ku, Sapporo. The reviewer made a reservation and visited with a regular customer on a Saturday at 7 pm. Upon entering the restaurant, they found a cozy interior with an L-shaped counter seating 8 people and a 4-person table. The reviewer opted for the course menu priced at 11,000 yen, but later discovered that the price had been revised to 13,200 yen on the restaurant's page on Tabelog. They enjoyed the excellent pairing of Japanese sake with the delicious dishes served. The reviewer mentioned some of the sake brands they tried, such as Oku no Kami from Tochigi and Akabu from Iwate. The menu included various dishes like tuna, sweet shrimp tartare, sashimi, sea urchin, and more. They were particularly impressed by the sushi selection, which included items like scallops, abalone, and sea urchin. The reviewer concluded that they would definitely revisit Sushi Matsumoto.

The sushi restaurant on the bustling street had great value for money. The head chef was always smiling, which was nice. However, the fish in the display case didn't look very appetizing and the case itself seemed a bit dirty. Despite this, there was a good variety of sushi and it was worth the price.

The dinner course I had this time was amazing! It included a variety of dishes like sashimi, flounder with sea urchin, snow crab, sweet shrimp tartare, marinated mackerel, foie gras, abalone risotto, tuna, sea chicken, steamed white fish, Western-style chawanmushi, homemade pickles, octopus, grilled tuna collar, sushi, scallops, sole, alfonsino, surf clam, abalone, sea urchin, snow crab, herring, salmon roe, botan shrimp, fatty tuna, conger eel, and green algae soup. Everything from the appetizers to the sushi was incredibly delicious! This sushi restaurant offers great value for the quality of food you get. The chef is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. I'm sure this kind of meal would cost at least 1.5 times more in Nagoya!笑

The counter was full, so we sat at a table for two. We started with a toast of red wine. We left the snacks up to the chef. We had homemade karasumi, sausages according to the chef, smoked oysters, and something else. We also had bouillabaisse chawanmushi, vinegar rice fried rice, and akami and chutoro sushi. Recorded for reference. (January 2022)

I ordered the omakase course for 11,000 yen and was surprised by the large amount of appetizers that came out first! The sushi course started and even more dishes kept coming! I was happy to see that there were many ingredients from Hokkaido. It was a bit disappointing that both pieces of the cooked turban shell had sand in them, and I would have preferred the grilled cod milt to have a bit more sear before adding soy sauce. The sea urchin was from the ocean and tasted a bit off, but the salted sea urchin was excellent and a great accompaniment to sake! They mentioned having their own unique sourcing route. The cost performance is excellent. It's also great that they are open on Sundays! Thank you for the meal.

I requested the 10,000 yen course at a sushi restaurant in Susukino. <Appetizers> ・Homemade Sea Chicken with Moist Cheese ・Quality Flatfish with Uni ・Hair Crab topped with Salmon Roe and Crab Miso ・Sweet Shrimp Tartare ・Shizuoka Onion and Souda Bonito ・Tuna and Ankimo with Ponzu Sauce ・Grilled Oysters and Tuna with Balsamic Sauce ・Simmered Octopus with Rausu Red Beans ・Mackerel, Tuna Belly, Pickled Ginger, and Cucumber Rolls ・Clam and Potato Bisque ・Whale Bacon and Karasumi ・Lean and Fatty Tuna from Kyushu ・Grilled Tuna Collar Skewers with Green Onions <Sushi> ・Flatfish with Kelp ・Kohada ・Surf Clam ・Abalone ・Uni ・Hair Crab ・Herring ・Salmon Roe ・Botan Shrimp ・Toro ・Tamago ・Soup Addition ・Salmon ・Grilled Skate Wing ・Conger Eel The sushi rice was on the smaller side, but the balance of the toppings was good. We had 2 beers, 5 sake, and 1 oolong tea. What! We spent 30,000 yen for two people with the above contents. The cost performance was great, and the continuous servings of Tachi in the appetizers was probably because I showed my love for Tachi.

After enjoying wine and tempura in February 2020, I wanted rice as a finale. I called at 9 PM to reserve a seat, grabbed my coat, went down the stairs, and headed to Matsumoto with two other people. We sat at the counter and ordered highballs, sweet potato shochu on the rocks, and lemon highballs. Each of us had one piece of sushi, and I accidentally set the sea urchin on fire. We also ordered marinated sea bream, lean tuna, and more. It was a long time since I had a conversation with the head chef and the hostess. Oh, is it time to change the building now?

This is a sushi restaurant located in a building basement close to Susukino Station! This was my first visit, and I met a wonderful owner. When I arrived at the reserved time and sat down, the owner greeted me with a smile and the experience began. The owner's style is to have customers enjoy drinking and eating delicious food little by little. Various dishes were served at a good pace. I am quite particular about sushi and have visited many sushi restaurants in Sapporo, but I really enjoyed the style here. There was a noisy customer at a nearby table, and the owner, who had been gentle and smiling, suddenly became stern and asked them to lower their voices as there were other customers present. It's true that some customers these days don't follow the rules in such situations, and I have had a bad experience in Kyoto before. The noisy customers left soon after finishing their meal, and we continued to have a pleasant time. The owner's cooking and attitude towards customer service here are truly amazing. The cost performance is also excellent. If this place were in Tokyo, I would definitely visit every month. The owner's wife also supports diligently and is very likable. Whenever I came to Sapporo in the past, I always tried to visit a sushi restaurant, but from now on, I will likely visit this place more often.

I was treated to sushi by my boss as a reward for working hard. We went to a sushi restaurant run by a couple in the basement of a building in Susukino. It was my first time visiting. After quenching my thirst with beer, the chef served us a course meal starting with lightly boiled conger eel, followed by three types of sashimi, steamed shirako, marinated anglerfish liver with crab, grilled tuna with leeks, and salted squid guts soup, among others. We enjoyed the dishes while savoring recommended sake. The chef adjusted the pace of serving dishes to match our eating speed, ensuring that everything was delicious. There were also wines available, so we had a bit before enjoying the final sushi course. The recommended sushi was fantastic, with fresh and succulent shrimp. The food and sushi were all delicious, the portion sizes were just right, and we had a wonderful time. The chef and his wife were very friendly, providing detailed explanations of the dishes. We felt satisfied both mentally and physically after having miso soup and tea. It was a truly enjoyable experience. Thank you very much.

Matsumoto-san's restaurant offers a sense of peace and stability. The whitefish sashimi was refreshing and delicious. The kabu (turnip) mousse was a unique dish. The warm soup always brings a comforting feeling. The ankimo (monkfish liver) had a natural flavor. The shirako (cod milt) soup had just the right amount of saltiness. The souda katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes) was my first time trying it, and it was very delicious. The tai (sea bream) and uni (sea urchin) roll was quite tasty. The botan ebi (spot prawn) had a perfect balance of flavors. Thank you for the delicious meal!

As always, the taste was reliably delicious!! Flounder with kombu, pickled mackerel, white fish, crab, and grilled shrimp with green onions. Autumn-like mushrooms with cream sauce over white fish. Bouillabaisse sushi with 3 pieces. The closing soup was seaweed and sea urchin. Another satisfying night!! Thank you for the meal.

It's been a while since I had a full course meal (^-^) When I arrived at 6:30, there were already customers seated... The restaurant was full today and the chef seemed busy. I started with a beer, Asahi Super Dry. It's nice to see my favorite restaurant doing well. I also had my favorite, Kohada, and it was satisfying. Thank you for the delicious meal! ===========

I revisited my favorite sushi restaurant, Matsumoto-ya (^ ^) I arrived early for my 6:00 reservation, but they let me in. They didn't have any rare drinks this time, but they served a good Japanese sake. The sea urchin had two types, both sweet and luxurious in taste. The soft and plump shari was also good. The toro melted in my mouth, pairing well with the crisp Japanese sake. The scallop was sliced differently, allowing me to feel the fibers of the shellfish. The crunchy texture of the abalone was irresistible. The shrimp head miso snack was a rich and deep-flavored delicacy. The Nishikyo-yaki was an excellent accompaniment to the sake. The sushi and Japanese sake were a perfect match, and the hospitality was top-notch. I realized I hadn't left a review, so I wanted to share my experience. I had been away for a while due to the hot weather last year, but now I feel like going back more than trying new restaurants. Thank you for the delicious sushi and sake!

Let's become a family☆ The Matsumoto family is the strongest sushi family!! This time, we were brought to a good sushi restaurant. We made a reservation for 6:30 pm and when we entered the restaurant, we were the only ones there. The interior of the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Besides the counter, there were also booth seats available. We started with a highball for a toast! There was sudachi available, so we squeezed the juice into the highball, and it was delicious☆ The first thing that caught our eye was whale meat, which was boiled in the restaurant. We tried various dishes as appetizers, and everything was delicious. The simmered dishes and grilled fish were perfectly seasoned, and they paired well with sake. Surprisingly, even the corn served as a side dish was delicious with a nice flavor. We also tried the whale meat, which usually has a strong taste, but the Matsumoto's whale meat was surprisingly tasty without the strong flavor. The shellfish and liver sauce were great accents that complemented the sake. There was a soup served in the middle, and although I forgot the name, it was delicious. The nigiri sushi had small-sized shari, which I personally like. Overall, it was the most delicious sushi I've had recently. The atmosphere, taste, sake, and cost-performance were all excellent. The owner, maybe the husband, was friendly and created an engaging atmosphere with his delicate presence. The wife had a dignified demeanor, and I personally liked her type. She also selected the Japanese sake for the restaurant. When I mentioned I liked sake, she brought out a good one. We started with sake and then had Kuro Ryu. It had been a while since I had it, and with the high-quality food and sake, it made me feel happy. Their daughter was working part-time as a support staff. You could feel the good relationship between the family members, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy. Although the seats were full and the restaurant was busy, the customers were nice. I had such a good time that I got a bit tipsy and couldn't write detailed comments! I was so impressed that I immediately wanted to revisit the restaurant. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
