While looking for souvenirs, I came across a "Hokkaido limited edition" of the familiar "Clear Asahi" at a price of 113 yen at this store! Truly Don Quijote♡ I purchased one for a taste test. It is made using barley from Furano, and proceeds go towards supporting the preservation of Hokkaido's cultural heritage, the "Red Brick Government Building." The taste was refreshing with no lingering sweetness in the aftertaste, and I couldn't tell the difference from the regular version. If you don't mind the same taste and don't mind the price, it's nice to drink the limited edition that can also contribute to society.

I went to Don Quijote to buy some snacks for a hotel room drinking session. After 7 o'clock, the deli section had significantly discounted prices. Fried foods were mostly half price. Salads and vegetable items were still a bit expensive, so I decided to check out the fried food section first. Surprisingly, the sushi section was crowded with customers trying to catch the timing of discounted items, while the fried food section was not as popular. Among the discounted fried items, I came across something called "Bacon Tempura." It didn't look very appetizing, but the unexpected combination intrigued me. I walked around the seafood section for 4-5 minutes and when I returned, the "Bacon Tempura" was still there, unsold. I thought maybe this was a beloved local delicacy in Muroran. I couldn't find any information online, so I decided to buy it for half price (149 yen excluding tax). Back at the hotel, I tried the "Bacon Tempura" during my drinking session. It was quite tough and crispy, with the bacon being too thin to stand out amidst the fat. It lacked any dipping sauce, so I assumed it was meant to be eaten as is. I tried to search for tips on how to eat it, but found none. I struggled through two pieces, but the oiliness made me feel queasy, so I had to give up on the rest. I probably won't buy this again, but I'll likely visit Don Quijote again for the evening deli discounts.
