"At Michi no Eki Asahikawa, you can find exclusive products like 'Michi no Eki Asahikawa Limited Karinto (Honey)' for 389 yen, 'Michi no Eki Asahikawa Limited Karinto (Brown Sugar)' for 389 yen, and 'Colorful Asahikawa Beans' for 378 yen. Michi no Eki Asahikawa is known for delicious meals and local specialties, but they also offer unique limited edition items like the 'Michi no Eki Asahikawa Limited Karinto' from Hokukari-san and 'Colorful Asahikawa Beans' from Kyosei Seika. These products are located near the entrance. The karinto is small and easy to eat, not overly sweet, and features a cute label with Asappi. The Colorful Asahikawa Beans are a mix of the traditional Asahikawa snack dating back to the Meiji era. Once you start eating them, you won't be able to stop. They are perfect as a snack, a side dish, or as a companion for a drive."

I visited on February 24th. "Michi-no-Eki Asahikawa" I last visited on August 7, 2016. Since it is a roadside station, it is mainly used while traveling by car. It seems like the facility was originally established and then registered as a roadside station. The parking space is a bit limited for a city the size of Asahikawa. There is also a roadside station in Hakodate, the third largest city in Hokkaido, which was originally located in the surrounding towns and villages, but was incorporated into Hakodate due to municipal mergers. Today, I visited with my daughter to adjust the meeting time. We explored various things. As for food, Umekouken, Yoshino, Hyozan, and Tororian are located here, but Umekouken and Tororian are closed... Tororian is either closed or has moved to a different location (pop-up shop) due to some reason... It's a bit of a problem. In Chitose, there is a dispute over the sudden termination of the contract with the management contractor, but it's strange to close due to personal reasons. Well, it depends on the contents of the Asahikawa's contract. A metal version of Asahikawa's official character "Asappy" is placed in a slightly inconspicuous location. I think it's a bit strange to have a spotted seal in Asahikawa, a city without the sea (laughs). I checked the merchandise corner. There are many items related to Asahikawa's local trees. Occasionally, there are items that seem unrelated to Asahikawa, about 10% of them. But I think it's a good ratio. Purchased items: - Kera Pirka 330ml for 571 yen - Animal Print Gummy for 324 yen - Usuyaki Senbei-san (slightly burnt rice cracker) for 650 yen - Kinpira gobou snack for 378 yen "Kera Pirka" from Taikichido Beer Co., Ltd. is an ale-type beer. Kera Pirka apparently means "delicious" in Ainu language. I thought it was "Hinna" from Golden Kamuy, but it means words of gratitude including "Bon appétit" and "Thank you for the meal." The package features a flying penguin from Asahiyama Zoo. Kinpira gobou snack is commonly seen at roadside stations. It has a crispy texture and is lighter than expected. The flavor is kinpira, with the taste of gobou also present. This is thanks to the gobou powder in the ingredients. - Usuyaki Senbei-san (slightly burnt rice cracker) A popular item from Senkaitei Suzuki Seika. It is sold at a discounted price due to possible breakage. It has become quite affordable. Also, pay attention to the vending machine there. It contains local items. Thank you for the meal.

On September 25th, I went on a food tour drive in Asahikawa. After visiting the Indian restaurant Gangga, I stopped by a roadside station and bought focaccia at DAPAS, where I also purchased beer. During my visit, the Asahikawa Pottery Festival was taking place, so I looked around and bought a piece of pottery that matched my image, a sake cup. Interestingly, the owner's family of my favorite soba restaurant, Harunosuke, was also there privately at the same time. It was a fun coincidence.
I tried the Taisetsuji Beer Kurodake when I got home for a drink. This black beer is modeled after Mt. Taisetsuji and is made with more malt than usual, resulting in a high alcohol content of 8.0%. It has a deep, rich flavor followed by a refreshing finish. According to the official website, Taisetsuji Beer has won awards at the Japan Beer Grand Prix and other competitions, showcasing its quality. Be sure to try this recognized Japanese beer for yourself.

After checking out of the hotel, I visited the memorial hall of my favorite author, Ayako Miura. I knew it was closed during the winter season, but I wanted to feel her presence somehow. The memorial hall is located behind the road station, and it was truly moving to experience the world of Ayako Miura's novels there. After that, I walked 12-3 minutes to the road station. There was a food court with popular ramen shop Umekouken. I was looking for JUN DOG, and this time I chose the sausage instead of the popular shrimp fry that I had tried at Asahiyama Zoo before. The sausage for 460 yen was a sausage cutlet coated in sweet sauce. It was filling with the generous portion of rice. I also bought Wasabi Nori for 648 yen, which uses wasabi from Ginneko, perfect as a snack. The Sanmasu-zuke for 250 yen is a Hokkaido specialty preserved food made by marinating green namaban, koji, and soy sauce in one-sho portions. It's recommended to eat it on top of white rice or cold tofu. I also purchased the Ginnneko Yakitori Sauce for 270 yen, which I couldn't try at the restaurant the day before due to it being fully booked. It's a convenient 3-pack that can be used for yakitori, Shiniko-yaki, and Chappu-yaki. The taste is not as sweet as typical yakitori sauce, it was a new flavor for me. I thought there wouldn't be much to buy, but my friend ended up buying ramen and other items, so we ended up shopping more. The ramen had many single-serving options, making it easy to buy. Later, I got hooked on the bakery inside the road station and ended up shopping more. Google Maps shows it's a 14-minute walk from Asahikawa Station, but it takes longer on snowy roads. We tried to take a taxi back to Asahikawa Station, but couldn't find one. We had to call for a taxi in the end. If you're not in a car, please be aware of this.

On the way back from my business trip to Okoppe Town, I stopped by Michi-no-Eki Asahikawa. Last time, I stopped by for dinner on my way back from Wakkanai, so it's been a while. The parking lot is one-way, so be careful at the entrance. This time, instead of dinner, I bought sweets: the "Miracle Pudding Vanilla" for 399 yen and the "Crepe Squeeze (Strawberry)" for 410 yen. The Miracle Pudding is made with milk that emphasizes not stressing the cows during breeding, resulting in a high nutritional value and a smooth pudding. It was delicious and incredibly smooth. The Crepe Squeeze was a first for me! It's frozen! It was a mysterious sweet that was just right to eat when I got home. I was impressed by how delicious it was, and I regret not buying more. I'll definitely get it again next time.

I knew about this pudding before, but I decided to buy it again. The flavor of vanilla is strong, it's smooth and not too sweet. It has a unique softness that melts in your mouth. I'm thinking of making my own caramel sauce to go with it. It lasts a long time. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the Asahikawa Michi-no-Eki market for the first time. After shopping at the bakery next door, I stopped by to see if there was anything interesting. I found a delicious-looking soft-boiled egg for 298 yen, which seemed like a good deal. I decided to try it and ate it about 3 days later, within the recommended eating period of 2 weeks. It was seasoned with a light soy sauce, bonito, and kelp broth, and tasted great. It was a perfect snack to enjoy with beer. Thank you for the meal!

I'm planning to visit this roadside station again in May 2019, but there aren't many reviews to highlight. There is a bakery specializing in bread, but I will review it separately. The dining options are not very appealing, so I have not reviewed them. A well-known food blogger in the area, Mr. "C," has posted his thoughts on this roadside station. In Hokkaido, only Tomakomai City and Asahikawa City have registered "roadside stations" in major cities. The significance of having a "roadside station" in Asahikawa City is discussed. If I agree with that, I might also be banned from visiting Asahikawa. Some people are already banned from there, probably because of always writing about the "salty Asahikawa theory." I bought "mizuna" for 100 yen, which is a slightly flawed vegetable. I usually buy vegetables from JA Asahikawa's "Asagao" shop, but there were some vegetables here. I lightly salted and pickled them to eat. They have a bit of spiciness and taste delicious. But Asahikawa's roadside station is really in a difficult location, not a major transportation hub, and it's hard to figure out how to use it.

On May 2019, after spending too much time relaxing at the Greek yogurt specialty store "F," I arrived in Asahikawa around 1:30 PM. I was eager to have lunch, so I visited a restaurant called "Minatsuki" based on satochina's review of the "Geso Don" dish. However, they replied with a simple "No comment," which apparently meant they were out of rice. So, I decided to visit the "Michi no Eki Asahikawa" instead, which is not your typical roadside station. Originally established as the "Hokkaido North Region Asahikawa Grandparents Industry Promotion Center," it later received the designation of a roadside station. It's interesting to note that Asahikawa, a large city, has a roadside station while cities like Sapporo do not. After buying some water for heatstroke prevention, I headed to my next destination in Higashikawa, as I ended up not having lunch in Asahikawa.

The ingredients are fried and coated in a special sauce, then compressed with rice into a stick-shaped onigiri to prevent it from falling apart, and eaten by holding the paper wrapping. This fast food has been sold in Asahikawa City and Biei Town for a long time. It's delicious, but 400 yen for one is a bit too expensive.

Soft serve ice cream is fluffy, smooth, and delicious. The portion size is a bit small... The bakery is also delicious.

The sweet and sour fried chicken at the set meal restaurant is incredibly delicious! I can't believe you get that much volume for only 800 yen. The size is so big that it made me laugh as soon as I saw it!

Now, let's take a leisurely stroll along the Chubetsu River from Takasago-dai・Manyo no Yu! Unexpectedly feeling full, so I need to walk it off properly to burn it off. And I have to buy souvenirs for my colleagues! So, I'll stop by the Michinoeki (Roadside Station)! Today is the day I go back home after a long time! Asahikawa's mascot, Asapi, welcomes me! Here we go! Senbei from Sengatei・Suzuki Seika! These thin and crispy rice crackers come in 10 different flavors! Milk! Chocolate! Sweet miso! Cheese! Kelp! Pumpkin! Azuki bean! Onion! Asparagus! Corn! What an amazing lineup! These snacks are quite delicate and prone to breaking, so I wrap them in a towel for stability! The subtle differences in flavors and the crispy texture are delightful! I had them with yogurt, and the lightness of the crackers is addicting! Highly recommended by Asika! Now, since I have some time before the express train, I'll have one last meal in Asahikawa! Of course, I'll have some ramen!

Welcome.---------- April 2018 ----------Renewed for the first time after crossing the tracks behind Asahikawa Station |o| °д°)ノGood afternoonThe spacious interior is like a small supercenter, with a food court featuring several famous ramen shops and set meal restaurants from Asahikawa. The shop also has a lineup of famous local products, including the mysterious "Miracle Pudding."Tom, who is fixated on alcohol, couldn't resist the Maleyama One Cup and bought it in bulk. The Harukasumi is from Takasago Shuzo, both fruity and disappeared in an instant lol. There is still plenty of power from the sake breweries in Hokkaido, thank you for the meal.

I went to Asahikawa Michi-no-Eki. There is a bakery inside that is delicious, but as I looked at the souvenirs being sold, I saw Jundog! I had heard of Jundog before but had never tried it... I was a little hungry so I decided to buy one. There were three types available, but I chose the Chicken Cutlet for 400 yen. They are sold refrigerated but they will heat it up for you at the register. It was actually too hot when I got it! I was expecting something more elaborate, but it's really simple. It's like a stick-shaped rice ball. Since it didn't come with sauce on the cutlet, it felt a bit incomplete. For 400 yen, it felt a bit expensive... Anyway, thank you for the meal!
