- Chicken curry spiciness level 1
- Freshly baked bread
- Small white rice
- Caramel lassi
I ordered chicken curry with the spiciness level at its maximum, freshly baked bread, small white rice, and caramel lassi (total cost 1400 yen). Since curry and carbohydrates are charged separately, you need to order them separately.
[Chicken Curry]
The curry contained about 5 pieces of chopped chicken and had a mild taste without any distinctive spicy flavors. It tasted familiar, like something homemade. Even though the spiciness level was supposed to be medium, it felt quite spicy when served immediately. It goes well with both rice and bread. However, when ordering both rice and bread, the curry sauce felt a bit insufficient, so I wished for a larger portion or an option for extra sauce.
[Freshly Baked Bread]
The bread was very large, not as big as the naan at Indian curry restaurants, but still sizable. It had a crispy outer texture like French bread and a chewy inner texture. It tasted delicious on its own and even better when dipped in curry. I even thought about adding olive oil or ghee to enhance the flavor.
[Small White Rice]
I ordered the small size, which was probably around 200g, so it was a sufficient amount. The rice was not Nanasuboshi, and I couldn't identify the exact type, but it was slightly smaller in size. It was cooked firm and tasted delicious.
[Caramel Lassi]
I found it unique to have a lassi flavor other than fruit-based, so I decided to try the caramel lassi. The lassi was the main flavor, with a subtle caramel aftertaste, refreshing and not too sweet. It was a delightful way to end the meal.
The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Susukino Station. It has booth seating and counter seating, and since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. The interior had a wooden theme, with small items like squirrel postcards related to the restaurant's name placed on the tables. They also played Hokkaido news on the radio. Water is self-service, and since it was a one-person operation, you need to make eye contact with the staff.
It was a Saturday when I visited, and due to the strong rain and wind, there were fewer customers. Depending on the timing, I was the only customer there, so I ended up staying quite a while, even though it wasn't until the last order time.
When I asked upon leaving, they mentioned that they were not currently serving Kashmir curry. This was my first visit, so I ordered the most traditional menu items, but I would love to try the keema, cheese bread, and dumplings on my next visit. Thank you for the delicious meal!
