グルメハンター・酔いどれ天使
Capital YMD Building, 1F, 5 Minami Hachijo Nishi, Chuo-ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido. Located in Susukino, Sapporo Chuo-ku. Walk south on Minami 7-jo street and you will see a red lantern on the left. However, the opening day of the new Genghis Khan restaurant has been changed to a later date. So, we ended up having a steak nearby to fill our stomachs, but we were really in the mood for Genghis Khan. We couldn't resist, so we ended up at this place for the first time. There is a simple ashtray outside the restaurant, and two people were smoking. Oh, it seems like smoking is now prohibited inside the restaurant, which is great. We had confirmed our seats by phone just before arriving, and luckily we were able to secure a table on the day. The restaurant was quite busy. The spacious interior had table seating, with Genghis Khan pots ready on the table stoves. The aged look of the pots added to the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant. It felt like a place for families and groups of friends, mostly tourists. There were photos and autographs of celebrities on the walls, and it seems that even baseball players have visited. With four tables set up, we were guided to one of them. We ordered a Black Nikka highball for 570 yen, which disappointingly was quite weak. The raw lamb Genghis Khan for 1300 yen, which was served on a plate with the restaurant's name on it. It was thinly sliced shoulder loin with a good amount of marbling, which we enjoyed without overcooking. The sauce was rich and had a complex flavor from over ten different ingredients. The combination with the raw lamb was excellent. Grated garlic and coarsely ground red pepper were provided on the table for seasoning. We also ordered Rib Fingers for 830 yen, which was meat from between the ribs. It had a good texture with a slight elasticity and wasn't too gamey. However, we concluded that the shoulder loin was our favorite. We also had a vegetable assortment for 460 yen, which included bean sprouts, cabbage, onion, bell pepper, and pumpkin. Lastly, we asked for hot water and tea to mix with the remaining sauce, which turned out to be a luxurious and flavorful soup. The restaurant had some smoke from the Genghis Khan cooking, but it wasn't overwhelming. There were four exhaust fans on the walls and other places. When we left, we realized how strong the Genghis Khan smell was outside, but it was a great dining experience overall.
